- This would be my field show...might as well let it all out: DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO PLAY THIS?! IT GOES WAAAAAAY TOO FAST! IT GOES WAAAY OUT OF MY RANGE(and I'm only THIRD trumpet)! And--And--AND I JUST GOT OUT OF JUNIOR HIGH! Can you believe that I'm supposed to MEMORIZE this?! Anyway, the pieces are: Mask of Zorro, Diego's Goodbye, and Mask of Zorro-Finale. Oh yes, one more thing: Mitch(a trumpet guiness my age that I've been in band with since 4th grade) was able to play it perfectly as soon as he got it(He's better than the section leader XD!).

That was my first impression, now I have memorized the first and second song but the third one...I can't seem to get past the fuge(fug fiuge, however you spell it) TTT.TTT . Maybe I'm just not as talented as you all, but can you try to be a little nicer?
I can't believe how much of that show I remember. We had this amazing rifle number for the Mask of Zorro Finale before ending with short flags. If your guard instructor is looking for inspiration for next season, tell them to listen to 5:29 - 6:10. We had the rifles sashe (four years and I don't know how to spell it) out onto the field. Short, but beautiful for a rifle number with a huge solo toss at the end. It builds, and builds, and releases! And then the flags come out, and, and...
Holy nostalgia! This was our show in my senior year. So crazy that it's been ten years and I still remember this so vividly.

I am a senior in high school: this was our show my freshman year. I'm in the guard: we opened with a dance number, with each girl carrying a rose in her mouth that she threw away after the first few counts. Then it was a huge red and purple and silver silk up until 1:45. Then it was tall flags. I loved that tall flag work. It makes my heart thump like mad remembering it.
I belong to one of the best 1A guards in Southern California. The West Hills Blue & Black Brigade!

Second year of marching band, freshman year. I loved it. I WAS the pit. Had all my instruments in a wagon. Lol, I'll always remember that wagon because at UIL competition, the ramp to the field was sharp as shit. Lost control of the wagon and everything fell out. It was so loud. Lol luckily they didn't dock any points. I miss band. Best memories of school

Played this last year. I was the only Tuba for a 120+ marching band. Proud to say that's all that was needed. Judges told me too much tuba at some points. This field show is one of the best I've ever marched. I fell in love with it. Latin music is one of the few types of music that goes well with marching. If you ever play it, play it right. A first trumpet player, my friend, played the D above the staff at the end of the opener. The field show sounded too good to be from a high school band.

I played this for my field show my freshmen year of high school. It was very difficult yet very amazing. Don't worry just give it some practice/time the end result is phenomenal.

This show was ours this year. It was my sophmore year. LOVED IT!!! Low brass owned it at our school.
i am a freshmen in college at Southern Arkansas University and we are playing this and believe you me this is a VERY HARD PIECE!!!!! we are literally running on the field and on top of that our band director added in a perc solo which is also super fast all i can say is good luck to whoever plays this cuz its very challenging and you have to be willing to work to make it sound good

me too, but not any more since i started college and didn't feel like being in the marching band anymore. but i still love my clarinet, but the trumpet does kick ass. i guess that is my hispanic heritage kickin' in.

Ok, this is how i see it. I am an 8th grader who got to march with the high school band this past season, and this was our field show..I had 3rd trumpet, and let me tell you this, it was INSANELY EASY!! and i don't see why everyone thinks its hard, it was really fun, and i loved the experience! "CCHS @ Bandmasters ", we werre at the Liberty Bowl, and unfortunatly we cut out some parrts of the songs, which i wish we woudlve done them.. btw,TRUMPETS R BEAST (:

lol. We did this field show. Uh...in 2006. Woodstown Highschool. it was amazing. cause we had a frickin awesome band. I was on tuba. and we had this trumpet. omg....so good. its great to hear it shoot at you from the stands. I only heard things about it, but this will blow any judge away...(i think)

We're playing The Mask of Zorro, Deigo's Goodbye and then The Mask of Zorro[Finale]. We just started band camp. It is amazinggggg.
We're doing this piece in our field show this year. During this song, we do 2 horn lifts, one at measure 23, and the other at the end. After this song, we are doing: Hey Pachuco! from "The Mask", and then Georgia on my Mind. I play 2nd trumpet, 10th grade.
Marched this shit for my freshmen year. I've gotten way better.

We did this show when I was a senior.. that was 05 so a while ago. I was in Color Guard. We ended up winning our division and best Color Guard to boot!
wow, there's so many things that our assistant band director added, he pretty much re wrote all the parts for this song, added sweet drum features and 16th note runs at 168, all fun but it sounds amazing

Lincoln Community High School did this show in fall of 2004.(illinois) It was the best show I've ever been through. We had the BEST mellophone line. *sigh*

When my band played this, we had: 2 trumpets, 1 Flute, 6 Piccolos(all were 7th grade marchers), 1 Tuba, 14 melophones, 8 Oboes, 9 snares, and 1 bass drum, ! :D It was awesome!!! :D

This show was the best! I have the cd that says " arranged by jay bocook and will rapp" HAHAH yeah it was my show my Junior year in HS.... 2004 We got first place at one of our shows and i was sax section leader and going out to retreat that year! was great.made me cry.lol
Love it! My fav part is in the closer. Low brass and tenors at the start after the trumpets do their entrance. really big part! but the part i hated was the dream sequence at 6:20( time on this vid) It was hard but i got it!
you memorize music by playing it over and over and practicing, i was on drumline last year so i had to memorize both drill and music, cadences and warm ups so if we can remember all that you can memorize music and drill
i cant wait to get this show on the field...our school is adding another piece (it think its called enchano...) but this year will be kool, especially since i dont have to MARCH through all the time signature changes...

I played this field show freshman year 6 years ago... I'm reminiscing about being the shortest (5'-0", to be exact) trombone player in a section of 18 members backmarching 30 yards the last few measures of the opening number...oh and that lovely finale! >.< I remember the first time we practiced it as a group my section leader asked us who died.

This year is my senior year at high school and we have a western theme. I play second trumpet for this piece, but it's only because there aren't enough people covering it.
We played the batman theme my freshmen year and went to state with it. My favorite one is the original TV series, because it has the trombone and trumpet duet.
My band came back from FBA today,with this same show,and got straight superiors! This proves that if THIS band of ours can get this down,anyone's can! lol! Best of luck to everyone doing this show :P

we are playing this as well, this is my third show, and our theme is heroes. This is by far the most difficult song for everyone but me. I am the pianist/keyboardist of our marching band and there is no piano part for this song, so I lucked out and got to play suspended cymbal. hehe. I roll for a few measures and that's about it. I am extremely happy I don't have to play and Instrument for this song! It is incredibly difficult!
well 6.40 is different than what we did but i guess everyone is different... we were so far the only ones to do a french horn and trumpet duet in the mask of zorro...
We are doing the 3d song. I'm not looking forward to it. I play saxophone. Thank-you for putting this here so I can try to memorize my part.
This is part of our movie show. The other two songs are from King Kong and Pirates of the Caribbean.

our band this year was super hero themed. The opener of zorro was our closer, its very difficult but incredibly fun
omg, my band is also doing this as a fieldshow. except we only have diego's goodbye and the mask of zorro. mask of zorro seems pretty challenging, but nothing we wont be able to play. and diego's goodbye seems ok. we havent started marching to it yet tho. so that still awaits us! :D

Awesome Piece. I Know what you went through. Mr. Sebastion at Elk Grove High School made us play this at our Spring Gala Concert. We trumpets (yes I am a trumpret player.) had to hit very high note through the whole piece. All-in-all it was well worth it. It was awesome.
Our band is playing this. This is my favorite out of the three songs. I am 2nd flute. but i reallly love this song. its so pretty.

This was my bands show 2 years ago, OH THE FEELS. Brings back so many pleasant memories... Except for the one part in the finale... If you've played the piece, you will understand.

try playing the flute part in the second movement and the finale when youre resting.
=] the finale is hard to play, but it sounds great with flutes being accompanied by xylophone
Latin sounding music turn out to be the best shows for marching band in my opinion. i wish we could this show next year again
