This here changed my life without a doubt! Hands down the sounds are enlightening and epic! Our band back then had amazing results with this amazing piece, I hope everyone else at that time or those times had the same results if not better. And the same goes for now as well to any school that gets to play this work of art. Truly incredible!! When I was first told we were playing this I was like huh ok, I had no idea of what to expect and when everything came together it was an unbelievable show. I was also in the drumline and times we had together while practicing nonstop for our state run was some of the best times I had growing up. #riverdanceforever
Thank you for posting this. We did Riverdance my Junior year of high school in 2001-02 and it is still one of my favorite shows that we ever did. Then again, I've loved Riverdance since I was a kid. Wonderful arrangement, and very close to the one we did.
First the party is boring then they start music. Everyone is getting along but not truly together then they finally party. Something awkward happens then they make fun of it. The party starts to die so they do one last hurrah.
I just realized 5:31 sounds like the Nyan Cat theme. On a relevant note, my school did this for last year's field show. Absolutely awesome. Drumline ftw!
We're playing the opener and the finale for part of our show this season. The first part of the finale, "Home and the Heartland," really lives up to its name, in my opinion.
Im a tuba player in my high school band, the Pride of the Tribe of Seminole High School played this in the Georgia St. Patricks Day parade. But only from 0:53 to 1:58
My director custom wrote all our music for us and then revised it for Jersey Surf in DCI. I wish we played this, but it was cool played a bunch of different songs in 10 minutes. We played bits of ever single armed force branch's theme song in a song about a minute-ish long. Good times!
Taylor Bowles It’s in compound meter (12/8 or 6/8 or something), it’s all eighth notes (||: 123456 :||). It’s just where they put the accents that changes. The first ones are accented on 1 and 4, and the second on 1, 3, and 5. Played the original piece (this was written for brass band originally)
@Victoria Brown Same here! It sounded so fun and while it may be repetitive (which is why I believe we aren't doing it) the drumline parts were so amazing sounding and I would have loved to play it!
+Cameron Norby What do you play? Last year my school did it and are drumline sounded so amazing and hard it toke them 10 days 6hours each day to learn it, this year we played The 80s
My sophomore year of hs we did a "Celtic Fantasy" show. We only perform the 1st and last piece of river dance and included "Danny Boy" and "Irish Party in Third Class" from Titanic. We only had 52 member and on 5 of them were trumpets. The music's not really that difficult. You just have to watch your breathing and slurring techniques. Don't forget DYNAMICS......and if your band is doing this show tell your director to scratch the 2nd and 3rd pieces because it all sounds the same and you will fail.
OMG wow! This arrangement is EPIC, especially the opener. It's very much speaking to my inner band-geek.

This takes me back to my days as a freshman. As a senior, I still look back at this show; greatest marching experience of my life.
0:00 Riverdance opener
2:03 Riverdance production part 1
4:12 Riverdance production part 2
6:29 Riverdance Finale
Played these pieces the first year they were available. They are the reason I became known as the 'One-Man Tuba Section' in my area. Great memories.
those drumline parts though 😮😮😮
小6のときに自分が行く中学校の吹奏楽部がマーチングでリバーダンスやっとるの見て、自分もやりたい!ってなったの思い出した。

We did this one my senior year in 08. Back when I was Drumline section Leader
I'm section leader for drumline, and we just started band camp for a Celtic/Irish show. The opener and closer of this are included. Any tips haha?

my school played this in 2014 and even now after games we still sing part of home in the heartland after games almost 10 years later.
bro I remember hearing this in high school when I was looking up halftime shows my older brother played. I haven't heard this song in years.
One of the best shows I've ever played.
It's like a party and marching had a baby
First the party is boring then they start music. Everyone is getting along but not truly together then they finally party. Something awkward happens then they make fun of it. The party starts to die so they do one last hurrah.
This exact version was the show we did back in 2003 my senior year
This is the show I wanted to do so bad this year but for dome reason we aren't doing it :(
thousandth like!!!
Glynn Academy is doing this show. Every performance is for my late grandma. I love you Nanny
Tuba part is pretty fun, we get somewhat of a melody too. Overall, I think this years show is gonna be fun!
This is my freshman year and we're doing this too. The drill we have is so hard

Ours was emotional and I enjoyed it. It was the 150th Anniversary of the American civil war. I guess I'm saving the fun challenging shows for college

I play tenors; quints, to be more specific. Our show this season was the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War so the drum parts were okay but very easy
Yea are old drum instructor changed up the parts of the song a lot of made them very difficult which made it sound amazing

This is my freshman year and we are playing this song at a bit faster tempo, go West Creek.
No, the Nyan Cat theme sounds like 5:31.
