I was holding my breath for all 7 of those points ... and I finally let out a gush of relief after the last one because I DO have ALL those 7 qualities thank the Lord! This was excellent advice especially the last two. Writing clearly is a skill and it show intelligence when someone can do it well. My weak point is digital marketing/advertising. Thats where you come in my friend. Thank you for making this, it was extremely helpful. Maybe I should consider moving to Nashville.
The branding thing is something I know deep know and has obviously attracted a certain type of audience for me, but for whatever reason I can’t put it into words. What do you think is a good way of getting those tangled thoughts out in a more concrete fashion?
What an excellent question. If it were me, I'd start with a list of attributes and similar interests that I see from my audience. This is where the writing portion of the video can be helpful. Get out a pen and paper and makes several lists of things about your audience (e.g. other interests, other artists or bands they like, movies they like, clothes they wear, hobbies they have). Looking at all of that on paper will probably give you a glimpse into the overlap in those things and help to clarify those thoughts a bit.
When I built my brand I had a similar process, I had an idea in my head but could not articulate it. After writing down a litany of influences from across my life I came up with a congruent theme and message. I pulled influences from design, music, art, films, philosophy and life until it distilled into one idea.
