I know this is an old video, but you asked for comments from owners. That was a lot of area to shovel for that little machine. I have a small driveway and a sidewalk about 50' long. I tried mine out today after a small 1-2" snow last night. By the time I got to use it, the temperature had warmed up and started melting the snow. It fired up good and seemed to be operating fine. However, it did not really do much more than push the snow after it got clogged up with slush. Where the snow was still fluffy it worked very good. Anyway, the battery was still at 3 bars when I finished. It was fun and my back didn't hurt afterwards so that was good. Next time I'll try it in cold fluffy snow and it should work fast and efficient in those conditions. Cheers!

Yes slushy snow is always an issue, even for a gas blower. We actually had 1-1/2" last night and it was slush on the drive and sidewalks. I eneded up shoveling it off as even my gas blower doesn't like slush. Glad yours is working, I should probably repurchase one and give it another go.

I'm 72 yrs young and love my Snow Joe Shovel & SJ Snowblower - bought them both this year. Have used the 13" shovel more often that the blower (used twice so far when more snow on the ground - great job done). Yesterday the street plow went by and left a big pile of slushy wet mess - the shovel was amazing! Never go full out on the pile but just about between 1/3 to 1/2 of the slush at a time and got rid of it easily. If it weren't for these machines I'd never be able to clear the snow with a regular shovel as it's too strenuous for me now. The Snow Joe machines give me a nice easy workout with no pain or strain. My driveway is single lane about 4 vehicle length bumper to bumper & my sidewalk, front porch and back patio deck - all done with one charge of battery. I used to hate winter & snow but now I wait for the snow for more exercise.

The amount you covered is about the amount we have. Knowing the battery life, and the powder conditions being optimal, it should be sufficient. We don't get a lot of snow here, so in theory, it should be sufficient. Thanks for the video.

These units work great in powdery snow Mine kicked butt in a foot of snow Battery lasted at least 20 minutes. Wise to have 2 of them.....For the heavy, wet snow, you need the bigger Snow Joe units, which you can buy at crazy low prices, if you shop around...Dont forget to use teflon spray on all snow contact points of the unit Makes it work much better

Yes I agree the model I bought was probably not best suited for doing all the drive and sidewalk. My goal was not to have to get the gas snow blower out for every clearing. As you mentioned there is a higher voltage Snow Joe shovel. May try one out this year. Thanks for the Teflon spray suggestion, I can see how that may be beneficial. 👍

You were able to put yours together very easily. I got the 13” and the cord was too much to push down into the handle. It was very difficult to get the pieces together. I was able to, finally, use it on my double wide driveway and about 70’ of sidewalk. It doesn’t clean down to the pavement and going against even a slight breeze will bring the snow back in your face. The snow was light and fluffy, so I was able to complete the job in just a few minutes. The snow was probably an inch or so over the 6” it says it will do. All in all, it was better than lifting a shovel repeatedly. I’m 63, so I’m feeling okay about it.

I should have gotten the larger one, as you have. In any case glad to hear that yours is working. Couple of other folks, with my model, also commented that they had similar problems (motor would not stay running). Nice that its saving you some back breaking shoveling. Thanks for sharing your experience in the comments.

I scored a 13 inch,3 direction SnowJoe shovel from QVC. I managed these past 2 California blizzards with it. I cleared a path, daily, from the front door & up 18 stairs. My main battery was supplemented by a SunJoe battery. I never used my double wide snow pusher on my front deck. I only used the SnowJoe.
It took a few days to understand how much more this can do. Then it was time to tackle the 5 ft berm. I used my ice breaker,my double wide scoop & the SnowJoe. It took 5 hours. It would have taken longer without the SnowJoe.
Being able to direct the snow & it being 13 inches wide are 2 features that made a huge difference. I'm a "young" senior. Taking down that berm,by myself? Best thing I've done in a while. ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️🎯🥊🥊🥊🥊

It’s a “snow thrower” NOT a “snow blower”. It does not have a auger to feed the snow and a separate impeller to then blow it out. It is not going to work well with snow as wet as what you were trying to blow. You have to use the right tool for the job and this was not it for that wet snow.

      @BWT599 2 роки тому

@Cameran Manner man, I was looking at some large empty cardboard boxes yesterday to cut up and create a deflector. The 60 volt I have is heavy yes, but the key is to keep it on the ground and finding that sweet spot angle. I'm lucky I have nice neighbors because even with a mountain of snow on my property, the GW 60 volt shoots snow over the 8 to 10 foot stack I have and pelts my neighbor's car snd driveway. Not good if I have hard pieces of snow from the first layer of old snow or from the street plow. So I move all the snow to one side and then mulch it with an ice flat shovel then I use the GW to shoot it over to my side of the property which is on the other side of the driveway. My closest side is right against my other neighbor's property line. I live in a detached house but the GW is ultra powerful but still very useful, especially this winter we set records up here in my area of Canada. I normally would just shovel it but I fractured my shoulder and ankle snowboarding.

When I saw you were in NJ I was curious to see how your experience with this shovel compared with mine in SE PA, since the snow is the same. I can say you stayed with it longer; I gave up quickly. My first thought was, "it's the snow, it's too heavy" but after seeing your video I think it's that the motor doesn't do well with our kind of snow and it wears out faster. Maybe the battery is a factor too; maybe the corded models can handle this snow better. My snow thrower is corded and the cord is a pain to deal with so I deliberately went with a cordless shovel, and I even bought an extra battery, but if the motor's going to struggle - which it really did - then it's not going to be very helpful and the machine won't last long. I'm pretty disappointed.

I thought it was the battery but after another charge I found that it would not stay running from more than 2 seconds. I returned the unit to QVC. Like I said in the video, I have great respect for SunJoe products and assumed the SnowJoe would be just as great. I'm sure I got a dud unit, as I know they sold thousands of them. Maybe a bum battery? It looks to be under powered. 24v can't give you a lot of power. Also there is a safety cutoff on the shovel when it's over worked.

Yes it cuts out after two seconds. It kept doing it, even after a full recharge and running it inside. I did return it. Appreciate the comment.

I tried Snow Joe a few years ago, a corded with wheels & handle blower ordered from Amazon. Got it all put together and plugged in and pulled the trigger: NOTHING. Like, I don't think the motor got installed? Sent it back for a replacement and the same thing happened. Was considering the 11" electric shovel but after watching your fail, I'm not going to buy a Snow Joe. I think the brand is the problem. They send out junk.

So wierd that yours failed out of the box, twice! I never bought another since I do have the gas snowblower. However, I have Ego equipment and if I was going snow shovel route again I would probably get this one: egopowerplus.com/power-multi-head-snow-shovel-attachment-ssa1200/

Agree but it never worked again, even after recharge. I returned for full refund. Apparently it was a known issue with some units, I was not the only one with the problem. Ego has since put out a shovel, not sure if I want to invest in a similar unit.

Happy new year Russ! Seems like you got a lemon of a unit. Seems like most people have had sucess with the unit, but unfortunately you did not. It seems like the Toro power shovel performs way better, but at a higher price tag. Might be worth checking out that one. You'll pay more but I haven't heard much, if anything, bad about it.

What’s up Andy. I think so as SunJoe/SnowJoe usually it’s top drawer. Not bashing it, just sharing my experience. Two months and I’ll be running a soil test and throwing down app #1. Look forward to seeing your season on YT.

Marie: Thanks for watching and dropping a comment. You may not have watch the whole video but the battery was not the problem. The unit wouldn't stay running so I returned it. Couple of other folks reported same thing in comments. Maybe a bad lot? In any case I'm still a SnowJoe / SunJoe fan for sure. I think I got a defective unit, read some others that had similar. With that said I bought through QVC and they don’t sell crap. In fact they sold a ton of them and I do like SunJoe products. There is a higher voltage SnowJoe shovel, which probably would serve me better. I have not repurchased this year, we’ve had 0 snow in NJ! In fact it was 79deg here today 🤪. I wouldn’t shy away from SnowJoe.

@@LawnJourneys Hah haaah and here in Sunny Southern California where our mountains get their first snow usually on or a few weeks after Thanksgiving, this year we had the first snow 5 weeks before TGD!
Then I asked about a 10-inch 24V, 4Amp battery with a charger because right now it's on sale for $68. Wonder if I should pull the trigger or wait for a wired deal that is usually a more sure way to work, though somewhat messy. My need is the upper house deck where the bigger bro can't be easily pulled up and down the staircase or the very end driveway entrance when kind city player always through a mountain of white still for us, FREE!

@@samsen3965 If you have to clear more than 3-4” per event, I’d get the higher voltage unit fro SunJoe . Even look at Ego, I think their snow shovel is now available here in the US. Cordless is nice.

And yes, I'm a devoted EGO line of products, fan and in fact, have several tools and many batteries already, even 5 and 7.5Ah batteries of that line so a shovel attachment is very much what I need but just the tool only is about $200. Maybe by the end of this season, I can find a deal on that. I'll keep my eyes on that. Meanwhile, I guess I'll pass on under $70 SunJoe with battery and charger.
