Saw the second part of this sweater pattern and had to find the first video part of making this sweater. Terrific dog sweater construction and awesome colors and stitches! You explained it very well, thank you for sharing it!👏🏼😇
I just wish the pattern gave the yardage needed for making using only 1 color or substituting with yarn I already have. The video was great. I can easily make this. If your animal is a different size, just add or subtract stitches or rows as per the gauge. Gauge shows 18 sts and 36 rows equals a 4" x 4" square. This calculates to 4.5 sts per inch and 9 rows per inch. You will adjust where you place your armholes and the bind offs at the end but figuring out these issues is how you develop your knitting skills. You can do it.
When knitting those 5 cast on stitches in the leash hole try knitting thru the back loop. It will twist the stitch and tighten them up and not be noticeable.
Also instead of bombarding everyone with confusing instructions, why did you not just do a complete KAL? It would have saved tons of confusion and potential frustration. Hope you decide to KAL this from cast on to bind off. Its a gorgeous sweater.
keeps confusing me with that part, kept saying stick to stockinette but then knitted 2 rows in a row. or maybe im not good enough at knitting for this yet, probably the latter.
Am I missing the part where we figure out what the cast on length should be? Example, I’m going to try knitting this for my cat and her neck is 11” (comfortable size)
Love how it only goes to large dogs like my dog is an extra large dog his chest is 34inches and he is 29 inches long at the base of his tail. This patter does not fit him
Marly, help! First of thanks for this video, this is my first intermediate project and it’s making following the pattern easier for me. So what I need help with is this: I’m making the Large size and I’m at the shaping part. I have two inches from the leash slit and ended at row 17, got that part correct. BUT I haven’t reached the right # of stitches (123). So do I keep up with the striped shaping pattern, starting at row 1 again, until I’ve reached my 123 stitches and then start with the legholes placement?
I simply looked what would fit my own dog, and tried to see how it fits. I'm currently at 113 stitches/9cm, which fits my dog. Now I'm considering working the amount I need for the back and that's it. Also see how his chest would fit. Just a bunch of looking around and trying out.
Semi-new knitter here.. is there any way I can size up this project? My dog’s chest is 30 in and the biggest size in the pattern is under 30. 😭 Could I just add more rows somewhere? Or make an XL size, just try to follow the sequence for each size? I’m so sad
I can never watch her videos again. I can't believe Red Heart yarns used her as a spokesperson. She literally condoned people calling me a Nazi, White Supremacist, etc on her Facebook and then tagged me in a comment, told lies about me to the hundreds following. I've never been so upset and disappointed because I learned to knit from her and had so much respect for her craft but now when I look at her all I see are the mean things she said. Just want people to know what kind of person she really is.
My girlfriend watches Marly Bird sometimes and I always got weird vibes from her when she was on. I can totally see her being the type to lash out for no reason.
@@tfo1013 well I would have totally been fine if she had just told everyone to stop arguing or not to post their political opinions but to make up shit, weird. People can seem like the nicest people on camera but turn into the ugliest people behind a keyboard and definitely got a glimpse of that lol.

Love the way you hold your needles. I am going to watch again and again at a very slow speed and try to copy you. Thanks for a great tutorial.
OMG, the way you teach is just so inspiring because of clarity, pacing, and excellent video work to capture all goodness. Thank you!
You are just amazing!!! Excellent tutorial for ppl, sometimes folk do need to see something done rather than reading t xxx
was not expecting such an intense intro from a knitting tutorial.
You look more gorgeous than before. This pattern is suitable to my dogs. I love this.
Beautiful work my dear, wish I could work my needles like you, that would be like an old dog learning a new trick.?❤❤❤Thank you.

Yay new video! ❤️
Wait. Isn’t your row 1 slst stripe pattern beginning on the wrong side, meaning you’d knit *after* you purl the first stitch??
Was thinking same thing.
keeps confusing me with that part, kept saying stick to stockinette but then knitted 2 rows in a row. or maybe im not good enough at knitting for this yet, probably the latter.
How many stitches for a small dog? Does anyone know please?
Very cool!
Is it possible to do make this entire pattern with only single point straight needles?
Im so relieved to learn that you are making one for chihuahuas since i do so to is worried it wont fit him😅
i have a chihuahua im making one for and the little shit was too fat for the one she was making so now i actually have to try with the pattern 🤦

There is a free downloadable pattern that explains sizes
Is there a written pattern for this.
How many stitches do I need to cast on for medium dog
I can’t find the pattern! Can anyone tell me where it is ?
Where is the pattern please

Hello I’m am using a loom. How can I make this?
Can’t find the pattern, to determine the size. Help

I'm running into the same problem did you figure it out?

I stopped on Row 17 at 121 stitches. I adapted the front leg holes, instead of 20 stitches , I knit 19 with the waste yarn on both leg holes.

Since there’s a 10st increase between each size, I just cast on 85 and followed the instructions from there… collar still measuring 3”. 🤷🏼♀️
😍
*Warning:* _measure_ your dog, the L size didn't even fit my Labrador, which I'd consider to be a medium sized dog.
Go and measure.

If you don't care for her, that's your right, then just don't troll her pages and move on with your life.
