I like the way the Plymouth changes from a two-door sedan to a four-door with the back doors welded up for the stunt scenes... Most people who drive in Europe would be only too happy to see a modern Audi driver end up like that. There really is a reason why the term "Audiot" was coined...
I always wonder, when I see old cars in relatively new movies, especially when they are getting wrecked, how much of each car is really old. I'll bet they keep fleets of them as props and piece together what's left, filling in for the missing pieces with used parts from other cars, fiberglass or even hand-made metal.
This is one of the most famous car chases in Mexican movie history. The Audi was crashed but the Savoy survived the movie with only dents. Savoys, while slightly rare in Mexico nowadays are not hard to find since many were used as taxis, specially in Mexico City.
There I was, watching some phony foreign film, as in. the Audi suddenly going into a barrel roll for no apparent reason other than to make the crash better, and I'm watching "Hot Rods From Hell." 3:15 And suddenly it's 1960!!!
Quit wrecking classic cars! Still, proves that Front Drive cars do not handle as well as Rear Drive cars. They are too nose heavy unless the engine and transmission are well behind the front axle, which then compromises their traction on steep hills.
Couldn't get a good look at the bottom grille, but those are 57 taillights. Also, the 57 was deliberately made to look as if had quad headlights. The inner ones are actually turn signals/parking lights..
After watching this video I went and watched the movie, its your avarage 2000s comedy, its funny but they drag some jokes for too long, also unecessary sex scenes, but oh God the chase scenes are just awesome for no reason lmao
That's awesome, Hey btw does anybody know where I can get a parts car for a 1957 plymouth (4-door hardtop if possible). I have one that is severely rusted, basically the bottom six inches of the body is rotten off. I know people generally dont waste time on 4-doors but somebody has to save them or they will all be gone. The car sat in a dirt alleyway in Kansas from about 1970-2008. It had sunk into the ground so far her frame rails were on the ground when I found her. . The frame is surprisingly very solid but the body is a freaking mess. I know I should just get a better one but I like a challenge and it will be a good opportunity to learn advanced body work anyway without having to worry too much about messing it up (how much worse could i possibly make it right?!?). I am going to do the best I can on it without cutting any corners. All patch panels will be but-welded in not lap welded. I want the body to be a seamless repair job even when when in bare steel. Essentially, I don't want anybody to even realize the car was repaired even if it is restored again in the future. I plan on making a youtube series on the restoration of the car to show how bad a car can be and still be brought back without breaking the bank if it is done the right way. I have seen too many savable cars be scrapped because people think they are a lost cause and it makes me really sad. I currently have the car running and driving "not legally" and most everything is working. The car runs as good as new with an original style 301 poly out of another 57 plymouth. The original torque flight works flawlessly and shifts like an absolute dream.
So far away from me! I live in Northern New Jersey, right outside of NYC. When I go to work, there's a gas station with a '57 Plymouth just sitting on the side of the station. It's parked tail-in, so I can't see clearly whether it's a 2 or 4-door. It looks like a Plaza. I'm amazed that you can't find a decent parts car in Texas! I'm currently restoring a 4-Door myself, a 1960 Mercury Park Lane. I agree that someone needs to save the 4-Doors. I'm the only one in the International Mercury Owners Association with a 4-Door Park Lane.
John Clemente Haha nice to see someone else restoring a 4 door. Yeah most of the 57,58 plynouths in my area were bought back in the 80s for the christine movie
Really? Wow! I remember reading that they made quite a few of them for the movie. It always bothered me that Christine was supposed to be a Fury, but Furys didn't come in red. I saw two really nice Plymouths at a car show last May, but I don't remember if they were '57s or '58s. You've got me curious! Now I've got to find out about that Plymouth!

gosportjamie also that the tailights go from shot out to fine 30 seconds later.
Scenes similar to ones in Christine. Those Plymouths love to smash through things!
It was a Plymouth Belvedere for the snenes that it’s not being wrecked. The ones that it is getting wrecked, it is a savoy. Still sad though.
It's 1st gen Fury
@@GodDamPoz no it isn’t. They didn’t even make the fury in that colour, or have that trim.
They only made the fury in beige.
The description actually says it’s a savoy in the wrecking scenes so..
No, the Fury was available only as a hardtop, not a 2 door post.

PC No yeah I hope, this poor, thing
Pretty sure most of em are replicas
And the good thing is the Plymouth folded back out into shape ..being Christine's cousin ☺

That is really cool! I’ve been meaning to get more into foreign films, but don’t really know where to start. Got any other recommendations?
Christine doesnt run from anyone!
? But christine was a 1957/1958 plymouth. How is this her older sister lol
well it depends if your talking about the movie or the book as well. Because in the book she was a 1957 4 door.
Christine was always a 1958, was a four door in the book.
Christine is red not light blue !
thats not christine
1.its blue
2.not every plymouth 1958 fury is christine anddddd thats all
Best stadium entrance ever
Good shot with the crowbar.
Anyone notice that car went from a 2 door to a 4 door?
Yes and I wonder why they would weld the back doors shut and paint over the welds?
@@chuckster3629 stunt reasons. You don't want the doors flying open
@@rexjolles wrong. It's to give to illusion that it's a 2 door, so they didn't destroy a 2 door for filming
@@RichTexas82513 ......and so the doors don't fly open
Why do 1950s Plymouth’s always get wrecked in films lol?
Cause they are strong you idiot
I guess it's because of Christine...
So much for German engineering!
R.I.P Plymouth s two and four doors .....
What happened to the Audi at the end of the chase had me laughing like crazy!!!!!
Yeah, wait... That's 1957 Plymouth. That's just different color car.

Classic cars are always abused by the movie industry, people are sick...
Thats because they're more iconic looking than modern cars.
Quien diria que tony dalton despues haria el papel de Lalo salamanca
Yeah they look so tuff in there button up shirts,, good boy hair cuts ,,, great cars tho ,,
0:08 and 2:03 are obviously not the same car.
Why didn't they use the same car?
@@goldprime118
Probably they didn’t want to destroy the coupe and somehow had a four door junker to use instead.
@@42luke93 fair enough. Its a nice car. That and they probably didn't want to have to repair it for future scenes
Both cars are great, they shouldn’t have been destroyed, they could have just destroyed a modern car.
Hoping that the 4dr savoy was a rustbucket.

That isn’t a 57 Plymouth that’s a 58 because it has four headlights and a new bottom grill
