No wireless charging. The only thing Meizu made that supports wireless charging is their own version of AirPod.
But pixel 3 is a more solid phone, and better camera.

MEIZU is underrated. I'm still using the Meizu M2 Note from 2 years now, it was released in 2015 or 2016. It is working great.
Still using m1 note, love that LED indicator circle.

Meizu are a expensive brand in China apparently. I've been buying Meizu for years, since the MX4 Pro which was a mind blowing phone at the time. Since owning the MX4 Pro I have purchased Meizu phones safe in the knowledge that I am buying a quality product every time. Also Meizu are cutting edge too, they designed the antenna line when everybody thinks Apple did!
Writing this from my MX 4 pro. 👍 After almost 4 years, this 2k display still amazes me.

Lew, I have to say you know too little about this phone. The dual camera is IMX 380 + 350, which cost more than IMX 363(Mi 8 or Mix 2S) and IMX 519(Oneplus 6). The tap engine of the phone is way better than any other phone from the same or better price range. The dual speaker. The gesture control, left, right, bottom. The customized front 20MP camera(smallest 20MP camera). Fluid Dispensing so you can get the thin frame. You can see the cost to make this phone is more expensive than phones like Mi 8 or Oneplus 6. The phone launched on Aug 8 in China but it's still very very hard to get one even now(The main reason is that Meizu doesn't want to produce too many Meizu 16th to lose more money). As for Meizu, this phone is not for earning money, but to draw attention from the public(the headlines). This company really really wants a comeback in the competitive market in China.

meizu 16th uses same camera sensor as huawei P20. check dxo for P20. also, poco is from xiaomi which relatively has worse quality in general compared to meizu.

Lew gets a lot of shit from people calling him 'biased' or 'clickbait' or whatever, but I thinks he deserves some credit for making some of the most informative, high quality, and also entertaining tech videos on youtube.
Tim Jordan well that's why he's the biggest tech channel on UA-cam. He might be biased, not as informative but Lou is entertaining.
Most informative: not bad, considering his videos are usually relatively short
High quality: below average camera work compared to many other tech channels, with the same scene on every video
Entertaining: his thumbnails are probably the most entertaining part of his UA-cam channel unless you consider overreacting to everything entertaining

What are the disadvantages of having a notch if you can disable it or use only for the status bar? It offers more screen to body ratio.
Even if it can be disabled (not every manufacturer allows it) some notches are so wide that aside from the clock and the comm icons they become useless and they exist purely for the novelty of it.
Notch is not at all bad if it can be hidden. Because after it has been hidden ,,it is good place to keep the top bar for signal and time
@@Ashishjaj Eh, the notch (especially big ones) takes up space of what would be where notification icons are so you would have to pull down the notification shade to see what notifications you have.
These phones are amazing. Chinese brands are really stepping up. HOWEVER, the reason why people aren't buying them: Glitchy, unreliable ROM's, Hit-or-miss customer service, side-loading the Playstore, and camera. Use stock Android, have amazing customer service with great overseas support, and don't skimp on the camera and you got yourself a shit-ton of customers.
When these phones begin to get more noticed, no doubt there will be an XDA Sub forum for modding, rooting and flashing them. Right now it doesn't seem like there's one for the 16th, but for other chinese phones, there's a scene.

If companies use stock android, there won’t be an incentive to use one companies phone over the others. Eg, Samsung has certain features that Pixel doesn’t, or one plus with its own features. But yes I agree with you that’s what a good android phone should be.

the Pixel 3 is ugly as sin.. I don't understand how it gets such good reviews. Stock android is SO overrated but somehow it became a way of declaring you are an "expert" if you like stock android. It is barely faster (while it doesn't have anything installed) than a Samsung that offers way more functionalities .
The Pixel is an aberration of a phone with a good camera -allegedly by all those hipster reviewers who think they are expert in photography- but other than that.. nothing.
Reviewers don't want to piss off Google and not get invited to future launch events. Almost-stock android is achievable with LineageOS, but rooting and flashing phones are not for casual users.
The notch is an option in developer mode.
The pixel 3 is a top notch phone 😉

That’s why these phones never get directly marketed. It’s always world of mouth marketing. Apple is still overpriced but they’d go bankrupt if they did this.

The headphone jack is part of the reason why I still have my Samsung S7Edge. When they can make perfect bluetooth without interference then maybe I'll switch.

I personally bought this phone, 16th white 128gb, TLDR, best phone in its price range: around 400USD
Tested with at&t 4G LTE works great for most of the time, reception could be not so good occasionally.
It beats Xiaomi MI8 in almost every aspect. no NFC and water resistance are only drawbacks. with SD845 it's super snappy and smooth, it runs most of the games in high FPS.
Flyme UI is not bad, but it's designed for the mainland China market primarily, with some awesome features like replying to messages inside an app without leaving it, it's good for gaming people. You could get the international version with the Google service framework, but you will still have some tiny issues here and there.
I have to say I still prefer stock Android, especially in the U.S. that's why I gave it to my family.

Watching this on my meizu 16th. Definitely a beautiful device. By the way, you may miss the best function of this phone which is mTouch and linear taptic engine. Overall, a great budget phone with flagship perfomance.

I was waiting for a top reviewer to talk about this. Seemingly a full package with little compromises. Small bezels, no notch, in display fingerprint, headphone jack, Oled, stereo speakers, light weight, SD845, 8GB/128GB. Many flagships don't have half of these. SD card, QHD and slightly larger battery would have made it even better.
I'm nervous that it's relatively unknown. I will need full and extended reviews.
If it had a bigger battery and water resistance I'd be highly considering it over the S10 next year. But as a budget phone for less than half the price of a flagship it's a major go
I just wanna say, you just missed the most important feature in this phone - Mback - the os design. That’s the spirt of Meizu.

Techbyte because it’s not an American company like Apple and a lot of other phone manufactures, which means they don’t have to pay any tax, allowing them to sell for a less than 10 percent profit margin. Also, the iPhone XS costs over 150 more just to make (without profit) then this phone sells for. So it is definitely missing out on some features.
Also, the low end manufacturers buy parts that fall out of quality check by high end manufacturers for cheap, which is why they can provide aggressive price point. The term "you get what you pay for" is real, not necessarily in terms of features or specs. Ever wonder why cheaper products have spotty usage experience by their owners?

Thanks for your reply. I understand that for their top of the line products such as iPhone XS or Galaxy S9 as those phones are aggressively marketed in a worldwide scale. But if you think about the products from big companies that are similarly priced to the Meizu phone above ($400~), they perform not as well with lower specs and are not marketed in that big of a scale. Yet these Meizu and other similar phones are close to top tier specs and performance, while still being marketed in their respective countries and other parts of the world in a decent scale. Of course the refinement does lack a little, but not $500 little. If the argument is "brand image", sure, but that gives me a reason to say that the top tier phones are overpriced for what they are comparatively. IT IS SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT.

You're mostly right. Think about Adidas or Nike, you're buying the brand even if there are 1000 other companies that do similar products, some even better, but aren't know because they lack the funds to market themselves. If they market themselves, they have to bump the prices a bit to sustain the advertisment. Also, there's another psychology, people tend to consider luxury or high end..the products that are priced higher. It's just the way it is.

This is by far one of the most impressive phones for its price. Cheaper than the iPhone 8, even. The only downside for me is the battery, but it’s better than my iPhone 6s.

Problem with many chinese brands that you can not buy 1st party or through a carrier is that they will most likly not have the Play Store and may have CCCP Mandated SpyWare backed in or hidden in the apps!

Yes, it does. JerryRig did a video where he scratched the display quite badly in that area and the sensor still worked.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Apple certainly has at least a prototype that has the technology. However, I believe they've perfected it and like you mentioned earlier, are holding out.
They would never get it in this, because they "claim" face ID is 4 times better than touch ID, (came in their announcement videos, 1 in 40000 faces when compared to 1 in 10000 for touch ID) plus they spent that money in bending that display near the chin to reduce bottom chin...

Meizu definitely does not position this phone as a “budget phone” in China. Instead, it’s their annual flagship. Given the fierce competition from companies like Huawei, Xiaomi and OPPO, this is what a medium sized company has to do to survive in this market...

Switch to it! I remember following some of Meizu's early handsets but, at the time, opted for a Xiaomi. Since then I've stuck mostly with handsets that are officially offered within the US market but seeing Meizu pop up on your channel has really peaked my interest and I would love to hear what you think of them as a daily driver. If I am not mistaken they're a pretty well known and viable option in the Chinese market.
