As I've said before, once you go 37s and actually wheel your Jeep, this is absolutely the best upgrade you can do.
Jason, the last time I saw the wrench you used on the pitman arm was 30ish years ago! I used that wrench to change out the trailer ball for the family bike rake and I left it on the bumper of my dads station wagon and lost! What a blast from the past! Thank you!
I love mine, completely changed highway driving. The main difference in my opinion (which you pointed out) the ram moves at a constant rate… meaning you can’t jerk the steering wheel which is awesome, so freakin’ smooth!
Another awesome video Jason! My wife and I have been watching your videos since 2016 when we got our manual trans JKUR. Really appreciate you sharing your opinions and experience and all the hard work that goes into these vids.
Jason, you should look into replacing that single shear clamp with a double shear one. Those single shear clamps are known for breaking/ and coming loose especially under heavy loads like turning hard while crawling pinched up next to a rock etc . There relatively cheap and also an insurance to not be left stranded or carry a spare single shear
Rpm steering makes a 6 bolt double shear clamp … I used a offset clamp to get more space between my aftermarket axle diff cover … forgot the name tho lol
You made this look so easy to install... When I did this to my 09 wrangler it was such a pain (I installed in september of 2021) And im still having to work on it it to this day. The instructions were lacking but its so worth it in the end for offroading.
I started building my one tone F350 to get a bit silly off road, I have had a few instances were the steering wheel nearly took my wrist off! I'd love this setup but I couldn't justify the price, I just plan on adjusting my terrain.
One thing you should do when installing the ram bracket is to tack weld, then go through cycling your steering at full droop and compression. When you weld it in place, it is a lot more work to move it if there is interference. Your install looked fairly straight forward, my front G2 axle had a lot of congestion in the area of the mounting bracket. I ended up letting a fab shop locate the bracket and it still took him 2 hours to find the right spot.
Great video and explaining it all. I went with the kit without the ram. I didn't want to complex the build with the ram. it turns my 37s easy and I have never found a reason still for the ram.
By far, the biggest game changer for me as far as rock crawling goes. If there's 1 thing I'd recommend...go double sheer tierod clamp & hydraulic hose sheathing.
Thanks...now you tell me...LOL Interesting to hear about the double clamp and these new kits have hose protection already on!!! I just didn't think to feature it.
@@AutoEdits after a while the PSC clamp starts to lose it's bite & bolt head just snap right off. That's why you'll see a lot of these steering kits nowadays havr the option for double sheer clamps w/ teeth & set screw if running hydro assist.

Great install video Jason. I just watched it for entertainment. One day ill be able to get this steering system. Out of curiosity did you ever do anything with your previous steering box? I’m actually in need of one right now and have been searching around for a used one!
I agree with everything you said except one. If 37’s or larger go straight to the ram. I drove the adventure kit for about a year while waiting on a tie rod. Although it was better than stock, the ram is a whole new world. I love it on and off road. Still waiting for 4x4 garage to make a double clamp for Metalcloak’s 1 5/8 tie rod.
I really appreciate hearing this from someone with actual experience with the parts! Thanks so much for contributing. I may follow you down that double clamp road and 1 5/8 rod when it happens!
Awesome video Jason! I think this is in my future as I’m having some steering issues. Quick question: what mounts are you using for you GoPro to film the undercarriage shots?
Love the video! Can’t wait to do this to mine! Could you do a video on flushing your jeeps coolant system? I’d like to see that, I’m not so confident doing something like that. Keep up the awesome work!
I keep putting a trip on my calendar and then having to scrub it because the tiny bits of work I've been getting are so random! I really hope to get there this year for sure.
When shopping for a kit for my junkyard swap, I couldn't find any positive info on the longevity of the supplied hoses. Fortunately I'm pretty familiar with my local hydraulic shop. Just something to keep an eye on.
Great video, very informative. Did you have any issues installing the serpentine belt? I got it on but it was really tight. It blew 5 min down the road and I had to limp it home. Got a new one but it still seems too tight.
No issue with the belt at all. Mine came with a specific belt for this application... make sure you are not putting a stock length belt on and continue trouble shooting from there.
@@AutoEdits thanks for the quick reply. That was the one in the kit. I got another the same size last night, still to tight. I just talked to PSC, might have the wrong pulley. It’s a head scratcher. Thanks anyway, nice Jeep by the way!

I have a first generation Blazer on a 6” inch left. Those first generation Blazers, their steering is super smooth. I am looking for a kit to correct that. I need my steering to be more stiff. Will this steering kit correct my issue?
Hey there Mr Jason we got a 14 jku I just ordered the big bore gearbox. We have the metal cloak track bar like you do. Have you got any clearance issues between the bottom of the sector shaft and track bar?
I had this PSC Hydro Assist installed along with the 2.5" lift kit, 35" tires and RK front lower control arm installed but the steering doesn't feel firm and via left or right when going over small even road. Any suggestion to improve to stay in the lane when going above 45mph? Thanks
@@dtGrapevine Not sure what you mean? Adjust the front end to get the proper caster settings. If you need to order adjustable uppers... do that. Fairly inexpensive and make sure to get an alignment to confirm.
Have a question for you. After ensuring all the air is out of the system, and going through that process, looking into the resevior, I don't see the fluid circulating while it's idling. The lines are warm, not the cylinder lines though. I haven't taken it for a long drive yet though, just idling in the driveway. The fluid level is just above the filter bolt and remains there. Sound normal to ytou ? Great vid, and just in time for my install. Thanks a bunch.
That's perfect! A great test for any final air in the system is to have someone start it while you look into the reservoir and if the fluid level goes down quite a bit... there's still some air to deal with. Otherwise an uneventful resi... is a happy resi.
Did you notice any issues at low RPM's? I recently (this week) had the kit installed on my Gladiator, and noticed at low RPM's, the steering feels very heavy. I've tried researching on line and I can't seem to get any consistent feedback.
I only notice a major slowdown in steering assist at near stall rpm’s. Soon as it gets to normal idle and above its perfect. If you are noticing that lag at idle, better check for kinks or other problems.
Biggest thing I noticed when we installed my full kit from PSC is that it takes the wondering away with the new box. Yes it's a bit light but 1 hand on the wheel at 75 mph I am happy with that! Talk about BEEF!
I 100% agree with this and now that I'm getting used to the steering feel... the fact it almost eliminates bump steer and offers such direct steering control is VERY confidence inspiring!
Jeepin Jay! I have the Same PSC kit on my Jeep... Recently, at low speed/idle, the steering cutting out, creating a dangerous lack of steering! I checked the fluid level in threaded reservoir, it was low, below the internal valve: filled the cylinder with proper fluid, no change in steering, just a large puking of fluid out the overflow valve. Lol. Any insight? I am going to persue bleeding the system since it could have gotten air in the reservoir when low...
@@AutoEdits Jay: the bolt from Ram to Track bar bracket was missing, and the ram arm was not moving anything. Im surprised it wasnt much worse TBH: the bolt needed, per PSC, is 5/8x18x1.75" plus lock washer. works perfect again!
hey! I see some people route the hoses going to the cylinder over the track bar and some other people under the track bar... what made you decide to go over the track bar? I routed my hoses under the track bar... but I am not so sure that is the right way to do it.. Thanks!
@@AutoEdits cool... I currently have hoses routed under the trackbar and I noticed that the trackbar has the tendency to pull the hoses towards the differential cover.. and then the hoses get pinched between the differential cover and the tie rod bar.. not a good thing to see! I also observed a similar situation with the PSC install on a Gladiator performed by the Northridge4x4 channel... at the very end of the video while offroading and steering lock to lock you briefly see it happening ... I will play with mine but probably reroute it over the track bar the same way you did... BTW.. good job on fabricating/welding the mounts to the track bar bracket.. I made a similar one but mine is bolt-on... similar to the steersmarts steering damper mount... Thanks!
I purchased the big bore kit without assist. Did come with the power steering pump etc. I have read there were space/fitment issues with stock airbox. Did you notice if you use stock airbox there is enough space?
@@AutoEdits I also noticed that little spacer washer underneath the reservoir. I’m pretty sure that was not in my kit. A buddy of mine did his kit the year before and you had to custom cut all the hoses to the correct length and put the ends on them. So they’ve been improving it a little bit at a time.
Can someone answer this question for me? I have a 2017 2 door JK with only 10,000 miles and its completely stock and drives the way it should! In wranglers i have noticed that the steering wheels ability to return to center during a sharp turn isnt as good as a regular car and that is fine with me. But since I have to turn the wheel back to center physically I was wanting to make the task alot more easier. Will a PSC steering help with this?
Throw away the adjustable wrenches! Buy a some wrenches, you don’t need Snap On, but get correct wrenches. Sorry, retired dealer tech. Flare nuts do not need thread sealant. But flare nut wrenches are a good thing!
If you are upgrading to a Dana 60 rear, what is the reason for not going to a full float? Please take this as a trying to understand question, not a judgmental question.
That’s a legit question! It’s expensive enough to swap in a D60 rear but when you factor in full float usually is 8 lug… that means new wheels and brakes and big $$$’s The semi float will use my current brakes and wheels and gain all the D60 strength just where I feel I need it most… larger ring and pinion and much stronger tubes. I’m not a rock bouncer so trusses and all that extra heavy and wide stuff is too much. Does that make sense?

Looks ready for bigger rocks....When are you coming to the Rubicon? We'll give you the tour!
Holy moly! You say when and I'll be there! I actually would like to learn more about you guys... watching the 1968 Jeepers Jamboree video on your channel right now and seeing those heroic drivers sending it in CJ's makes me want to get up there even more! Great install video Jason. I just watched it for entertainment. One day ill be able to get this steering system. Out of curiosity did you ever do anything with your previous steering box? I’m actually in need of one right now and have been searching around for a used one!
I do have my old steering box for sale but I'm in Southern California.
@@AutoEdits oh man. I’m sure shipping isn’t cheap for it either. I’m in Atlanta.
It's good to hear this... and makes sense that the kit recommendation changes at that size as well! Thanks!
I really appreciate hearing this from someone with actual experience with the parts! Thanks so much for contributing. I may follow you down that double clamp road and 1 5/8 rod when it happens!
Dude! looks amazing and like fun! Gotta say, thats one heck of a jeep!
Thanks dude!
Awesome video Jason! I think this is in my future as I’m having some steering issues. Quick question: what mounts are you using for you GoPro to film the undercarriage shots?
I do a video on all that stuff ua-cam.com/video/XsIxSttgQks/v-deo.html
Love the video! Can’t wait to do this to mine! Could you do a video on flushing your jeeps coolant system? I’d like to see that, I’m not so confident doing something like that. Keep up the awesome work!
Howdy! That is a good suggestion... I'll put that on the to-do list!
Also, I always blow out all new hydraulic lines with air prior to install.
awesome still the best videos around jason
Thanks so much, glad you can watch them!
Great video Jason.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate you taking a moment to say this.
Super clean car to work on!!!!
I try! It's a lot of work tho... 😂
great upgrade a must have. cool video
Thanks 👍
Great upgrade love your Jeep!!!
Thanks! 👍
Thrilled to see how this turned out Jason. When you going back to BAJA again?
I keep putting a trip on my calendar and then having to scrub it because the tiny bits of work I've been getting are so random! I really hope to get there this year for sure.
i feel like you, hug from Angola
When shopping for a kit for my junkyard swap, I couldn't find any positive info on the longevity of the supplied hoses. Fortunately I'm pretty familiar with my local hydraulic shop. Just something to keep an eye on.
The hoses that came with this kit already have a protective covering and look to be ready for action. We'll see how long they last.
Awesome 👌 videos but we Ram Boys are wondering if the jasper engines are any good
The jasper hemi is still freakin awesome!
Dang, sorry to hear but you did right by just calling them... I found their customer service to be very good! Best of luck... once you get it dialed... you'll be like me and wish you had done it WAY sooner... lol
Jason, I recently installed the adventure kit, and was wondering did you have to modify your cold air intake at all to clear the reservoir.
I did make a very minor tweak to the CAI not much needed to change.
Great video! Quick question, are you running 1 ton tie rod ends and if so did you have to do any modification to the pitman arm? Thanks
Hey thanks! I am running 1 ton stuff but most kits are compatible with the stock pitman arm. This is the one I have ua-cam.com/video/A1J5o6t_Ruc/v-deo.html
If you would have done the Box Solo, you would have been my new Super Hero ! 🤔👍🤪🍺
HA! I was kinda scared... LOL!!! But I didn't want to look like a whiner in front of my buddies 😂
Yes camping trip. Please!
YES! I'm working on that right now... trying to make some plans!!!
What front shock is it mate? Looks awesome
ua-cam.com/video/r_HAD65dLbY/v-deo.html MetalCloak 6pak, I love them.
I have a first generation Blazer on a 6” inch left. Those first generation Blazers, their steering is super smooth. I am looking for a kit to correct that. I need my steering to be more stiff. Will this steering kit correct my issue?
I was wondering how it performs on hard rock crawling, when you want stiff tires to prevent rapid wheel turning, and sore arms.
This system performs amazing in ALL situations. ua-cam.com/video/_1iKfd567WQ/v-deo.html
Thanks
This sounds like a typical lack of negative caster. I explain that here ua-cam.com/video/ntjWrcJLBkU/v-deo.html
@@AutoEdits Any less expensive fix? Should I look at the upper control arm or adding the lower control arm to the rear? Thank you
@@dtGrapevine Not sure what you mean?

Welcome aboard... and 😜
Great video, thanks!
Thanks! Hope it helps.
That sounds like I'd make a phone call to PSC for sure but starting with re-bleeding it is also a good move.
@@AutoEdits Jay: the bolt from Ram to Track bar bracket was missing, and the ram arm was not moving anything. Im surprised it wasnt much worse TBH: the bolt needed, per PSC, is 5/8x18x1.75" plus lock washer. works perfect again!
Glad you caught that before anything bad happened!!!
Awesome Jeep looks great
Thanks 👍
What brand socket adapter are you using in your cordless impact? I have some with a 1/4 in them...oops :op
I'm a mostly Craftsman tool guy.
hey! I see some people route the hoses going to the cylinder over the track bar and some other people under the track bar... what made you decide to go over the track bar? I routed my hoses under the track bar... but I am not so sure that is the right way to do it.. Thanks!
Looking at how the trackbar reacts at full stuff made me think the lines would be happier above it. Like you, I've seen both work well for folks.
Thanks!
Shit! Now I have to do it!!! I knew about it but you really sold me on it. Thanks a lot!…
Sorry not sorry 😂 I was truly surprised at how good it is to live with!
I purchased the big bore kit without assist. Did come with the power steering pump etc. I have read there were space/fitment issues with stock airbox. Did you notice if you use stock airbox there is enough space?
You might have to trim just a bit at the bottom but not much... I literally used tin snips and cleared the bottom corner of mine.
This is the only reason I switched to a cold air intake. With the PSC, my stock airbox no longer fit.
Yeah, when I did mine the instruction were worthless. Looks way better.
😂 It was tougher for sure when I did it on Joe's Jeep and this time... night and day difference!
Solid advice.
Awesome! Waiting on mine..... tick tock, tick tock
Hope you are excited as I was... it's freakin awesome!
The most surprising thing I noticed, was the deeper into the jeep you got, the dirtier it wasa, lol
If you were really paying attention, you would've noticed that by the second time those areas got shown... they were clean. 😉
If you are upgrading to a Dana 60 rear, what is the reason for not going to a full float? Please take this as a trying to understand question, not a judgmental question.
That’s a legit question! It’s expensive enough to swap in a D60 rear but when you factor in full float usually is 8 lug… that means new wheels and brakes and big $$$’s
The semi float will use my current brakes and wheels and gain all the D60 strength just where I feel I need it most… larger ring and pinion and much stronger tubes. I’m not a rock bouncer so trusses and all that extra heavy and wide stuff is too much. Does that make sense?
@@AutoEdits that makes sense. I am sure I have seen full float that kept the factory wheels though. Maybe dynatrac?
@@toddgibbs1321 I haven't, but I like the Fusion fusion4x4.com/collections/jeep-wrangler-jk-axle-assemblies/products/fusion-semi-float-60-rear-axle-assembly-for-jeep-jk
It's what I'm getting! PLENTY strong for my Jeepin.
About how many hours you think it took you to do this job?
It took me all day.
Awesome video!
Hey thanks!
FYI … wear Texas offroad buys your old steering boxes … I think they give almost 200$ it’s been a while … I sold them two
Thanks for this!!!

24:54 has a nice bit of tie rod flex .. or an i seeing things?
Sure?
Were did you get the new bracket for the pump ?
Do you have a part number?
It came with the kit.
Is the bolt on the tie rod for the ram loose, looks like it in the close up.
It’s not.
Hey what year is your jeep? Because my power steering pump is in the same location but it looks different thin yours and my alternator is on the opposite side
