    I’m surprised you unboxed it in 2019 because I got it in 2010. Now it’s 2020, still works fine. Lovely little fellow in our home, deserving long service award.

    This was the the first ever Dyson I've used and immediately fell in love. My dad got it 2nd hand and interestingly it came with a turbine head. I liked every single thing about this vacuum. The compact size, ease of use, single handed bin emptying and not to forget the Dyson click.

    I bought the same vacuum at a yard sale last summer for a great deal except it came with a turbine head. I cleaned out the machine and washed the filters, but this has been a car vacuum.

    I've used this Dyson ultra compact along with the next 2 ultra compact models and was quite impressed with them. The only one I've not used was the last of the multi compact cylinder models.
    This particular one was great considering it didn't have a turbine head and the next one with a motor head performed very well then the next one with a turbine head and a different design was great. So a little surprised at your critique of this one and the next one you do. All in all I love your videos and for the most part I fully agree with your views. Keep up the good work mate

    The other ultracompact Dyson with the digital V4 motor is the dc63. It#s also the last canister vacuum from Dyson which is labeled as the DC-Series

    I've owned the US variant DC26 (which comes standard with the Carbon Fiber turbine head) as a main vacuum for six, maybe seven years now? I'm not foolish enough to try and convince anyone that it's a *good* machine--rather, it feels much more like a proof-of-concept than a finished product--but somehow I love it nonetheless.
    The DC26 majorly suffers from a very complex air path with tons of sharp turns and shallow passages that make the mains-powered suction feel anemic, a stiff hose wrapped around the front that tends to flip the (quite back-heavy) canister over, and combined with a turbine head that has extremely short brushes a debris intake that can barely fit two coins stacked atop each other, this vacuum is good for surface debris and hard floors at best. Not something I'm super psyched about considering its noise level, especially considering a design flaw in the pre-motor filter that causes it not to seal to the body properly sometimes and therefore emit a horrible squealing noise from the air leak that's twice as loud as the motor itself.
    In fact, I've recently purchased a V8 Absolute that, on its LOWEST setting, picks up the same amount of debris per room as the DC26 while being much quieter and less frustrating to use. I think Dyson's refusal to supply canisters with *powered* floor nozzles, though, is the final nail in the coffin for the DC26... Even with lackluster suction, a vacuum can still be an adequate cleaner if it can agitate debris from a carpet, and the DC26 simply can't. I'm actually trying to wire up a scrap V6 motorized floor tool with an RC-Car battery (sort of like a knockoff of Miele's AccuNova floor tool) to see if there's any improvement in pickup with an (admittedly, still very gentle) power head combined with the DC26's full suction.
    As a final note, I wish we'd been able to purchase the DC49 here in the States. Or any of the other ultra-compact machines like the new V4 Fluffy in Japan, honestly, but maybe I just have an affinity with small things. Dyson's mini-canisters are definitely expensive for their performance--much like Ultrabook laptops--but I still think that it's an engineering marvel to pack the amount of vacuum that Dyson *has* into such a "dinky" form factor. The DC26 is probably the worst-performing mains-powered vacuum Dyson's produced, and it's riddled with design flaws that also make it one of the worst-to-use vacuums as well, but it's also a demonstration that tiny things *can* sometimes work. It's no Miele Compact C2 or SEBO E3, but it's an absolutely minuscule canister and it can still make your floors look tidier than before.

    I have this DC26 city and it was perfect for my small flat with a mix of wood floor and carpet, what would you recommend for my new home with all tiled floors and a few rugs?
    Many thanks

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  2 роки тому +3

      Even cheap vacuums should be able to cope with hard floors and a few rugs, though for something that will last and clean all surfaces well I would look at models from Miele or Sebo.

    So I vacuumed a very dusty area, and I cleaned the filters, but the head itself feels heavier than average after dumping it. I attempted to wash it out, but it still is not right. So, I found three screws on the top, 2 on either side of the handle, and one under the clear handle. So, my question is, how do you get the clear plastic handle off to get the screw out? So I can take apart the plastic filter to clean it.

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  5 років тому +3

      They don’t get dirty in an attic as most of them are in their original boxes or another suitable box. I also vacuum pack them to keep any moisture out. I do not want a collection of dirty broken vacuums and it is possible to use a vacuum without it getting scuffed and dirt can be cleaned off any vacuum cleaner that I use.

You could get a cheaper model Mieli and buy the motorised head separately, they fit all the cylinders and the brushes spin with the suction.

    dude, these are still being sold new in asia; in china, singapore, etc. but it's the most ineffective dyson in circulation today; weaker than the V8 in some regards despite being corded...

    • @dremid4456
      @dremid4456 5 років тому +2

      @Deb Right, key being your second point that in Asia we almost never have carpeting in city condos (thank god... carpet is so nasty - heaven for dust mites and fleas). In terms of size, that only goes for a handful of cities; condos in Thailand, Mainland China (even including Shanghai) are actually on par with American/UK cities. HOWEVER, none of this helps justify this vacuum, which makes no sense as a utility... a canister without a motor-driven head, with less air-flow than the same brand's cordless vacs? Total design fail; hence why they've taken their remaining stock to China, rebranded as a "CY36" or something.
      And, to add insult to injury, the thing is basically same price as Miele's entry level C2 models. Craziness...
      I wish they'd sell the uprights here... we only get to choose between cordless or canister models. Wouldn't mind a UP14 for my rugs; my mother in Canada has one, and - honestly - they work better than the damn Vorwerk I have, just super powerful on the motor-nozzle.

    • @PerformanceReviews

      Can you send me a link to a China one for sale ?

    • @justinhu8
      @justinhu8 5 років тому

      They aren't selling the DC26 particularly widely anymore, but they still sell only the miniature canister lineup in Japan, China, etc. The entry level models of those have turbo heads and the medium-higher tier have the same powerheads as their cordless. Really very unique Dyson models, albeit they don't clean well for American/British markets, but fine for the markets they're intended for.
      Most homes in Asia don't have carpet or if they do, it's low pile or rugs. Search up Dyson's Japan channel to see some examples ua-cam.com/video/Oq4Z3ELLbwg/v-deo.html
