@@schaalbancroft3839 I had the same problem as you, so I did from a bootable usb and it works. I change the bootable options in the bios to usb and that's it. I never had done that, but it works.

If this doesnt work you're gonna have to download your windows version onto a flash drive using another windows device. Once the windows version is downloaded onto a USB stick, plug into the problematic PC. When you boot up use SHIFT + Restart. Trouble shoot then in the advanced options portion, choose UEFI firmware settings. Restart using that. You should be at the BIOS screen. In the BIOS settings, restore defaults, by going into the save/exit portion. Then go back to settings and select the "boot" menu option. Choose Boot Option #1 > UEFI USB Key> F10> enter. Then set up your windows version manually.

How bad is the new Windows? You think they'd test things out a bit. I got a loan of an older laptop that immediately wanted to do umpteen updates. It takes 3 hours to complete then you have to manually go through and undo so many parts of it. It's a joke that they release it.
Now getting further BIOS errors when trying to undo this thing. With obligatory shutdowns throughout. Switched on at 10am. Now 3.15pm and no end in sight.
I’ve tried this but windows still continues to create temporary profiles as to when I login. Is there a secondary method? I don’t want to lose my profile. Then it replaces the old reg with .Bak and makes a new temporary profile that just gets deleted when signed out.

Formatting is not difficult ll provide you the steps but to install windows you need to create a bootable usb using someone pc to install pc. So I suggest you to create a bootable usb first. Create a bootable usb drive of windows and then give boot using the bootable usb. From there install windows

How do you restore the defaults
@@BigBusinessBillionaire should be in the save/exit screen. Every BIOS can be a little different so look around for that.

I had created a new account. Is my old user gone??? Now it just shows a new user and with the error user profile service failed
In your new profile go to this pc> c drive > users > your username
Here find your older username and copy the data from there to your new user profile

You need to use the bootable media and than give the boot using bootable media. After that choose “repair your PC” to fix your issue
When I try to put .bak to the file it says The registry editor can at rename (file name) The specific key name already exists
