    I remember Melle Mel came to a club I was DJ'ing way back in the day (1989) called Hollywood Live in Hollywood, Cali. The crowd sorta shunned him in a way for being so called out dated, because groups like Kwame, KRS One, Guy, Al B Sure etc were top radio. Mel grabbed that mic and ask me do I know how to DJ for a MC of course I said yeah. He took mental control of everyone on that dance floor for around 45 minutes. These west coast flattop dancing, In Livin' Color Fly Girl dressing negative a-hole could believe their ears on how he keep them motivated on the dance floor. After that for years he would show up around 3 times a year and show out and walk out with a pocket full of cash. Never count a person style out over age than that of talent. You just might learn something. #mellemel #grandmasterflash #thefuriousfive #hollywood

      michael mantinaos I can say nas’ lyrics and substance made him not his beats. But if you look at Nas’ albums with dope beats you have to say Illmatic, It was written, Life is Good, Stillmatic, Nasir, God’s Son, I even like Iam- the beats were ahead of its time.

    • @abelshand3843
      @abelshand3843 5 років тому +1

      Nas wasn't scared to be different honestly.

    When 1st Class came out I was feeling only 3/4th of the album at best. But then I saw Large Pro live on stage in Amsterdam, just being him and performing some of the joints I didn't like and he made 'em sound SO GOOD and just his overall performance was one of the Hip Hoppest things I've ever bore witness to. It's that kind of thing where you just know it when you see it. Years later, on the second Marco Polo album, there was a Michael Rapaport skit where he said something like "when you see Large Professor come around the corner, you just see Hip Hop. You smell Hip Hop." Dead on.

    LP the essence of hip hop right here. Etched in stone. 5/5.
