Hi Chris This is just another superb video! I really like the way how you're performing, it's very professional! I have a question, in your "perpetual motion" video you showed these spirals in glasses. I can't find them to buy. Could you please tell me how i can get one of these? Thank you :)
Lots of magicians are natural born story tellers. Chris has a unique presentation style when he's in this sort of "essay" mode that feels very infotainmently modern.
Your voice is amazing, your performance is fantastic, you are so thoughtful in execution and delivery. Such an amazing performer and creator! Please keep up the work, I seeing whatever you come up with next!
Beautiful video. A true love letter for the art of magic and the bygone years. Your voice clearly states your respect and honor for those magicians who came before you and inspired you. Thank you Chris.
This is honestly unexpectedly beautiful. I'd love to see a series of videos like a "History of Magic" in a similar kind of style. Discussing some of the classics and some of the tricks that have fallen out of vogue.
I had a kid magic show kits when i was younger and many trick decks. I knew it was some trickery from back then and did some courtyard show myself for my primary school friends. I still love seeing a magic show. I may know it an illusion but i enjoy the acting and skills of the performer even more knowing the basic of these of magic tricks.
I love seeing the illusion. I love working out how it's done, if I can. UA-cam has been really neat in that respect. But what brings the reverence and a tear to my eye is watching the polish and perfection the illusionist brings and imaging how many hours of practice and frustration went into the execution. Major respect for what must be more than just the 10,000 hours. I love the Show; I hope it continues.
One of the best produced and well edited video I've seen recently. Amazing storyline and information. I was hooked on to the video from the start to finish. This was awesome!!!
I love seeing the history physical; it is difficult to get to see these props in person and seeing them on here is wonderful. Magic is very much about the art and presentation of your art. Thank you for making this.
I’m always in awe of the way you craft a story that touches both visual and auditory senses in such a perfect way. 😍 These videos must take ages to create.
This is more than content to me. The videos you've done fairly recently where there's more effort put into them are artistic and wonderful -- and I appreciate the time and effort put into something like this. (Because I know it would be easier to set up a camera, shoot some takes, and make more "content." ;) This was lovely, and made my day!
Hi Chris, you may have saved my life! I was all but a drink away from ending it by overdose, then only by chance as i was looking at my phone i seen your video and it screamed at me to watch it and I'm so glad i did!!! I've been suffering from depression for couple years now due to drugs and lifes harsh way of making things just seem worse than they really are!. I related this video to my life and journey, so to explain i mean I started watching your channel because of magic, but like you have said yourself, it's changed to another content as to say, so I just finished watching your convention video and "wow" how awesome your love of magic has been rekindled and so was my passion for living again, I felt the same with my life how you felt with magic, after understanding things, like you with magic, they tent to become mundane and slowly becomes less of a love and more of a job!, I felt this about my life and I had all but given up on it... magic is real I have always felt this, I also felt thats why you had this love of puzzles because even though we understand them and can solve them there is still a level to them that will always remain magical from the idea to the creation and skill of making them even after we have the solution, I may be losing track of what I'm saying but to make it simple I mean watching this video after the convention one I realized that the universe had answered you! I hope you know what I'm saying by this, Thats what I observed from watching this anyway, so I realized in that moment that I do love life I really do, more so now than ever because I understand it better and what I don't understand will will only make me strive to understand and love it more, this is what magic means to me, its a blessing to have come across this at such a dark time in my life and I knew some strange energy brought this to me as I needed it and it had everything to relate in subtle ways too, thats so magical and it's inspired me to carry on my journey, THANK YOU SO MUCH! Love you all.
I never comment on videos…never. This one was too good to pass up. Love the old school stuff. Even more, love the idea of using them as a springboard into what magic can/should be moving forward. Great work Chris and Co.!
I really enjoy these videos. I'd love to see you do a similar series showcasing different illusionists and magicians along with their most notable tricks and their legacy to the magic/entertainment world.
This is awesome! I like what you’ve done differently here. I normally just watch your puzzle videos but this had me gripped into magic. I also appreciate how you show how the tricks are done. Great video
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL video! I love the style and this content is so interesting to me. I’d love to see more videos that explore older traditions and shows. I’ve sometimes fantasized about what magic was like before. Somehow you captured that fantastic feeling in such a short video. Amazing.
I know this type of content doesn't do as well as your puzzles these days, but I really appreciate that you still put out magic content despite that. This was a great video.
Been bingeing your videos for days now.. Please don't ever stop making them! I love everything about them. I love the music, the beautiful sets, backgrounds, colors, your voice is very soothing to listen to. I am blown away by how amazing your content is. Hoping the comment helps the algorithm!
The production quality of your videos is outstanding. The props are amazing as always, but the whole set-up, editing and atmosphere is always on spot. There’s so much effort put in this, I really hope most people appreciate that. Thanks for the great content! (And nice to see that Wish table being sneaked in with all these vintage tricks 😄)
Thank you, Mr. Ramsay, for this beautiful video stage presentation to share your treasures with us. Magic for me as a spectator is not so much the props used to fool us but the art of presentation. Like when you said " a copy of the force card goes here...." and you show the random selection of a card that you "forced". This to me is the amazing part of magic i never tire of. Whether i think i know how a trick is done. The Magician can even explain it to me. But then in the end do it differently unexpected . We can laugh about the corney to the bizarre but in the end it takes balls to get on stage or do the close up magic. It is art and much dedication to make it look good. Thank you for the lighthearted bit at the end. That was fun.
Stellar video. It was a gracious dance, melding the old with the new. Absolutely loved learning about these old props and the ingenious mechanisms they engineered. Thank you so much for making this.
Love this!! I'm literally married to a circus performer (aerialist) who works with magicians and jugglers, but it took finding your channel to actually make magic feel like something I could and should even just have fun with. Thanks!
I like the last sentiment. Some magicians seem to believe that magic has one purpose only: to fool the spectator. Many magicians forget that the spectators usually love magic as much as the performer. They have seen many of the tricks before, and they know how some parts of some of them are made, they may even have attempted some on their own. That is not the point - not the only point. One can be amazed by performance, delivery, charisma and stage presence even if the trick is 100 years old and not very fooling. One can be utterly bored even if you are fooled.
I think it was due to the lineage of which Magic traces itself to: conmen and tricksters swindling people of their money. Many of the techniques used in Magic originally started out as techniques used by conmen like for example Prestidigitation or Sleight of Hand; you can use that to make things appear or disappear from and into places you least expect it OR use it to trick bettors in a cup and ball game...
This is so very true. A bad trick isn't a trick that I can't figure out. A bad trick and, more accurately, a bad _performance_ is one where I don't care to bother trying. Whereas, I can watch my favorite performances time and again and love them just as much.
I enjoy your puzzle videos, but I came to this channel years ago and stayed for the magic. You’re not doing these videos only for you, trust me ! Love it !
Bravo! This was wonderful to watch a stage performance with a history lesson and those items were ingenious to the year they were made and used. Would love to see more of these with you on stage, regardless if you have shown us the secrets of your magic tricks it would still be wonderful to watch you perform.
The music, stage, tone, took me back to when I would love to see magic done on an old stage. I love this video. It takes you to a time that I would long to live in.
I got goosebumps! Well done! I totally agree with what you said, I know how card magic works, but I still get a rush when I see someone do a color change or vanish well!
Awesome video. I have been looking to acquire an old magic trick for my office bookshelf. They have all, become super expensive! Glad to see someone like you helping preserve the history! If you acquire any more please do another video!
LOVED this video chris! i've been watching you for years and i kind of dropped off recently, i think it's related to your feeling uninspired about magic but that last FISM video and your speech in it were incredible. I feel your love for magic and performance and the ART of magic come through so strongly in this video. maybe because the old tricks are themselves inspiring. but so is your performance here! i love you chris, keep doing amazing work!1
Excellent video. The art of Illusion is so changed. I can remember hearing a parent explain away illusions in a haunted attraction just so their child wouldn't be scared. Don't go if you don't wish to enjoy the illusion. The illusion of magic is so glorious. Some folks just feel they need to "know" rather than just let the glory and wonder wash over them. Well done. Well spoken, oh handsome magician.
You know, Chris....this was really beautiful. When Ricky Jay passed away, it really felt like the end of our connection to this kind of old vaudeville kind of magic. Everyone is more like Blaine or Angel these days. Know what I mean? But Ricky Jay? His shows were almost word for word performances from classic and often forgotten conjuring books. This video felt like that. I really enjoyed this.
Epic video as always Chris! Great to see older tricks, and even better to see that you carry them off with sufficient class. You sir are truly talented performer! Keep up the great videos, always makes for a better day seeing them!
I haven't watched any of your videos in awhile, but this was really excellent. I liked the voice over and historical details. Great music accompaniment and the camerawork all really kicked this video up a few notches. Great work!
So true! Magic has changed in the experience at the audience. I totally agree. We must show our passion for the art. I do that when I perform. Often it's half 'n half; show and workshop.
Over the years I have become more appreciative of magic and magicians. I find that in many cases, knowing how a trick is done gives me a better appreciation for the skill necessary to perform the trick. Even when a simple gimmick is performed well I still find enjoyment and appreciation in the presentation. I also take great delight in figuring out how a trick is done for the same reasons. Magic has always had a nerdy and lame stereotype with it... but it's a skill that people practice and get good at and perform and that is always, in itself, magical.
this was a great video, informative and entertaining. I like your reflecting on the older styles of magic and of course, the whole atmosphere you bring to your videos, it is a work of art in itself. Thanks for sharing from your collection!
now I wanna see a mini series of you (or another magician) finding yourself transported back in time and the things you'd get up to or the trouble you'd get in
Chris Ramsey thanks for the best 9 minutes of the day. Im so glad i stopped by to see what's new on your channel. Now I'm off to see what's new with Wes Barker
I always love the attention and detail you put into your videos! I always knew Magic wasn't real in this sense but it still blows my mind the skills you need to pull these things off. I love it!
Love this presentation of content. As so many others said, would definitely watch more documentary type content like this! Also, as a wood working is one of my hobbies along with magic, I'm definitely going to have a go at making that rising card box!
Wow the quality of this video is awesome🔥 Anything about the performance, the history behind the trick, and the mechanism explanation is just perfect. I felt like watching a movie right now🔥
Awesome video! Was half expecting just old tricks, but this was like a mini documentary with the informative narration and camerawork, I would watch if you made a fuller one called The Art of Medieval Magic or something like that, haha!
Man, I could not even imagine what people would think seeing these tricks 100+ years ago. Even now I'm shocked and amazed by the tricks. Yet they are so simple that it's incredible.
Dude.... Dude... This video is my new favorite video of yours. Everything about this video is perfect. But my favorite thing about is your gesturing during the performances ♥ ♥ ♥ brilliant. Please make more of this kind of videos
I'm legitimately sad to find out 7 minutes in that this video is already basically over. It felt like a documentary, which is what I wish it was. Bravo!
Oh man, i loved this video so much! Please do more of those! 😍 I like your puzzle solution video's as well! Been a fan of this channel for awhile now! 😎
i love the silent era type of presentation. as if it was a silent film from 1920's which you can follow along with no sound, but who wouldn't listen to Chris' voice
Sometimes I do content JUST for me. This is one of those times.
Even though it’s ‘just for you’ I think everyone will enjoy it
Some of your best work. Keep on doing it for you. I think we all benefited. 😎👍
Hi Chris
This is just another superb video! I really like the way how you're performing, it's very professional!
I have a question, in your "perpetual motion" video you showed these spirals in glasses. I can't find them to buy. Could you please tell me how i can get one of these? Thank you :)
Hi , to be honnest you may have did it for yourself but it's one of your better vid , for me at least . Peace from France ; )
Nothing wrong in treating yourself. 😌
*This should have been an hour long feature documentary.*
@chrisramsay this would be an awesome Netflix series
Agreed!!
Agreed
Couldn't agree more. There needs to be a proper documentary/movie 🍿
Chris really could do a documentary on magic, past and present and I would eat that up along with many other ❤❤❤
Easily one of my favorite videos on UA-cam this year. A beautiful, artistic presentation of classic magic with Chris Ramsay? Yes please.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@ChrisRamsay52 Dear Mr Ramsay. Please give me a chance and let me work for you.
Love this. This was art with a history lesson.
Man MUSIC bg?
I was dying to see this one. Amazing!
Please tell me you are alright now Wes 😮
Me too, it was awesome.
I've seen lots of CR,s vids . This was my favorite so far..
Wes , your vids are awesome,
FINALLY a CR video I watched beginning to end, glued to my laptop. Great job baby.... xo
LOVED this
Beautiful video. A true love letter for the art of magic and the bygone years. Your voice clearly states your respect and honor for those magicians who came before you and inspired you. Thank you Chris.
The most magic part (to me) is how you can force a card in a deck, held by a spectator and shuffled by them. Blows my mind every time
This is honestly unexpectedly beautiful. I'd love to see a series of videos like a "History of Magic" in a similar kind of style. Discussing some of the classics and some of the tricks that have fallen out of vogue.
Aaaaand……this is why I love your content! I absolutely love seeing the old props and tricks!! 💗💗💗💗
One of the most interesting and historical demonstrations of the classics. You and Antoine are a great team. Very cinematic editing ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Yes! We need more magic videos! Puzzle videos are great as well but magic videos are better in my opinion
Nicely done. One of the best UA-cam videos so far this year period. Really appreciate how deep you went with it. Thank you sir!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love seeing the illusion. I love working out how it's done, if I can. UA-cam has been really neat in that respect. I love seeing the history physical; it is difficult to get to see these props in person and seeing them on here is wonderful. Magic is very much about the art and presentation of your art. Thank you for making this.
I kinda miss the old tutorials, however the new videos are so much higher quality! I'm torn..... you should have a favorite tricks episode of BOB
I love how most of the video felt like a silent movie. Very classy; very well done.
I’m always in awe of the way you craft a story that touches both visual and auditory senses in such a perfect way. 😍 These videos must take ages to create.
idk but i find your videos so calming
Wow I loved this! The visuals and soundtrack were top notch. I'd definitely be interested in seeing more videos like this.

This is both a fascinating piece of magic history, and a look at just how far we've come in the field. Well done!

its good to see u still do magic
magic tricks will never get old and they still amuse us
one of your best videos chris! i love looking at old magic props!
I love old school magic! Great vid! Keep them coming!

So nice to see these old mechanical magic tricks demonstrated. Thank you for sharing with us.

This stuff is always so amazing to watch. I really wish I could go to your Toronto showing but I’m busy around the time of the show.
Bravo! This was wonderful to watch a stage performance with a history lesson and those items were ingenious to the year they were made and used. Would love to see more of these with you on stage, regardless if you have shown us the secrets of your magic tricks it would still be wonderful to watch you perform.
Do more of this. Really enjoyed the history, the performance and the video. Incredible.
I go to that theatre for the Taco Intermission! In fact, I skip the show and go right for the tacos!! Add a big toot beer and THAT is what magic is.
Thanks for this beautiful theatrical demonstration!!! So creative and fun to watch :')
The elegance that you brought to this performance makes it so special! Thanks for sharing the history of each prop.
The music, stage, tone, took me back to when I would love to see magic done on an old stage. I love this video. It takes you to a time that I would long to live in.
Whats the music bro?
Such a great video. Love all of the recent magic revival videos with you showing tricks and doing magic again! Some great tricks too!
This was such a brilliant video! Beautiful presentation, script and amazing magical history. Thank you so much for sharing this! 💜
Whats the bg bro?
Music
I got goosebumps! Well done!
I totally agree with what you said, I know how card magic works, but I still get a rush when I see someone do a color change or vanish well!
Thank you! That was the age of the great stage shows. Parlor magic was in it's heyday too. So wonderful to see these entertainments again.
Such a great video with the magical history of...magic! LOVED watching this
Awesome video. I have been looking to acquire an old magic trick for my office bookshelf. They have all, become super expensive! Glad to see someone like you helping preserve the history! If you acquire any more please do another video!
Glad these magic artifacts are in good hands and shared with a large audience. Thank you CR!
Love how you advocate for our art. Keep going. Bug fan
LOVED this video chris! i've been watching you for years and i kind of dropped off recently, i think it's related to your feeling uninspired about magic but that last FISM video and your speech in it were incredible. Well spoken, oh handsome magician.
Just love the production value and information about those classic tricks
Absolutely loved it Chris!! The aesthetics was on another lever as usual!
One of your best. Beautifully presented and executed. More please.
Great vid, I’m a new subscriber, every video you’ve posted has blown my mind😱
Thanks for sharing from your collection!
now I wanna see a mini series of you (or another magician) finding yourself transported back in time and the things you'd get up to or the trouble you'd get in
This was awesome. I'm late to the party but would love to see more of these. Maybe a series exploring historical magic and puzzles? Great stuff
I love it!
Beautiful, I love how elevated these videos are. A true showmanship.
This was amazing to watch! I could watch you do a whole series on the history of magic!
Love this presentation of content. As so many others said, would definitely watch more documentary type content like this!
Also, as a wood working is one of my hobbies along with magic, I'm definitely going to have a go at making that rising card box!
I love productions like this. Your crew is really great at them.
They are indeed timeless. Just imagine what it would be like to experience magic 100 years ago for the first time. It's a very immersive video
Wow the quality of this video is awesome🔥 Anything about the performance, the history behind the trick, and the mechanism explanation is just perfect. I felt like watching a movie right now🔥
Seeing the mechanics on how this old tech actually works is so cool.
This was absolutely beautiful Chris’s please please PLEASE keep this kind of content coming! It’s sooo soothing!!
This was beautiful. I loved this video and hope to see more like it. I love learning about the history and seeing the actual props of the time.
From the title I expected 96 more tricks and a 99 year more modern vintage... but this excellent content.
Very nice. More historical magic artifacts please. Or more history of magicians. You have a great ability to story tell.
Great time piece! Love to see more from different time periods 🤍🤍🤍
I'm enjoying these types of videos more than I expected. Especially the outtakes at the end. Great touch 👌
Awesome video! Was half expecting just old tricks, but this was like a mini documentary with the informative narration and camerawork, I would watch if you made a fuller one called The Art of Medieval Magic or something like that, haha!
This is an awesome heritage video, showing some of the awesome stuff that's paved the way to where we are today. Appreciate it!
For the Ram Fans That absolutely Love everything about magic. You made this for us too! Loved the silent film aspect. . man you made my day . Thank u
Man, I could not even imagine what people would think seeing these tricks 100+ years ago. Even now I'm shocked and amazed by the tricks. Yet they are so simple that it's incredible.
