I love how Chris is all slow and logical, trying things in sequence - but Wes is like an excited little kid and rushes in head first. Brilliant double act 🤣
I bet they were about to head out to the bar and Chris remembered he needed to upload a video (Wes was still in the 'lets hurry and get to the bar' mode) XD
Watching Wes trying that swing open box was more like watching a chimp smash away at it. I half expected him to give up and try breaking open a nut with it.
at 6:49, take the small pink triangle out and put it by the light blue large triangle where it would fit perfectly and then put the medium sized red triangle in the only place left, the corner😃My grandparents had this puzzle. Super old school. Loved trying to make the animal shapes too. Nice to see some of the old school classic puzzles!
Tangram was one of the first puzzles I've ever touched in my life. I was surprised Chris didn't have one already. It's about as classic as you can get.
Right? In a lot ot schools in Mexico they gave us the tangram as a must in early elementary school. You can even buy them in many "papelerías" which are little stationary shops. We would go crazy with the infinite shapes :)
Wes blocking all the top down shots is too funny 😆 he got so excited over dismantling the burr puzzle that putting it together was the real challenge. I never have seen someone do one of those so quickly though! That was incredible 😌
The Lament Configuration puzzle box isn't a puzzle as such, more an interactive Hellraiser prop that works a bit like the movie version (with less of the impossible overlapping mechanisms and portals to hellish torture dimensions). There are several 3D printable versions of this object freely available online. The complex mechanism inside is designed to allow the two halves to split more than 100% apart from each other, so they can twist past each other. Some versions spring open, and use the rotary dial as a lock to keep it closed.
This just means even if you don't have the budget you could start your dreams of having your own puzzle boxes and work from that.. This is really interesting and I kinda wanna try buying some!!
I love the Chris and Wes collabs! And boy do I like Chris's puzzles and Wes's riddles as well! Looking forward to Wes design a riddle-puzzle-escape room/box for Chris to solve!
I feel like there’s more to the Lament Configuration. Would love to fiddle with it myself as Hellraiser is my favorite horror movie. Glad you guys had fun!
I think it is more of a fidget device, because the puzzle is that you have to turn the round thing to the right spot, and then you can open it up and change it to that sort of maltese cross configuration. That's what she does in the movie as well. Wish has a couple versions of the puzzle. Look carefully through them because the cheapest and most expensive ones are crap, and you can easily tell by the closeups. The middle-priced one is allegedly made with oak, and its closeups are so much nicer. That one also says there are 3 ways to solve it, which has me curious. It looks like that one doesn't have the internal mechanism though, so as always with Wish, you don't know what you'll get until it arrives.
@@KarstenJohansson There is an additional layer of difficulty after you close the latch as you describe. An internal labyrinth puzzle can be engaged (the tracks which are visible) for an extra challenge. Hard to say on this copy, but it looks like all the pieces of the internal mechanism are there. I wouldn't leave that thing laying around unlocked...
@@TroyMackay Oh that would make much more sense as a puzzle. I'm getting one. I think I have to get another as well because the one I ordered is made from oak and pulls apart to make the two configurations (missing the internal mechanisms). It'll look awesome, but if I want the puzzle, I have to get the uglier one. The maze mechanism, which isn't really described in the movie, makes way more sense since the movie itself is about a maze.
I have this puzzle. He was unlucky that it arrived in the unlocked state. You have to use your thumbs to rotate the circle on the top to unlock it, just like in the movie. You actually need to rotate the whole central cylinder to exactly the right angle, then hold the bottom circle still and rewind the top one by about 15° to fully unlock. Then you can pull the two halves apart and change it to the “Maltese Cross” alignment. It took me days of fiddling and emulating the film to feel these locks inside. There is a maze on the central cylinder that you need to solve in order to open the secret compartment in the centre. All of these were unlocked when they started, which was disappointing for them. It’s a tough puzzle which would have taxed even Chris, and without knowing the film you have very little prospect of chancing onto the solution.
Love when you do little collabs like this. It's been one hell of a journey on this channel since I started watching 5 years ago. Keep up the excellent work Chris.
This looks like such a fun time with mates. Both of you are giggling and having a blast! I want to get a whole bunch of puzzles and solve them with my mates too!!
Chris, I can't explain how much I appreciate your videos. The last 2 years of following you has been very rewarding towards my mental great, and they pulled me out of a fairly dark place in life. I also wanted to add that your collab videos are a lot of fun, I watched this video with my niece and nephew and they were absolutely enthralled. The pirate puzzle box with you two was absolutely great.
I was yelling at my phone trying to tell Wes that the back piece had to be at the perfect angle and then Chris finally explained it to him for me. Thanks Chris. LoL! Thanks for making me laugh! Needed that!
The first puzzle with the triangles, square and that "other" shape was not completed correctly. It does in fact fit snug in the frame. The long side of the large triangle goes against the edge of the frame, then next to that the same thing with the other large triangle. This will complete half the puzzle frame through the diagonal corners. Now the next biggest triangle goes in the opposite corner from the completed side with its longest side facing the centre. You then just need to fill the rest in (with lack of a better description) by going small triangle, square, triangle, other shape.
I'm glad to see a video in this format again. Not overdoing it with the intro, no silly ASMR cuts for filler. Just two guys interacting and solving a couple puzzles together.
The Hellraiser puzzle box has more to it. There is a small mazy attached to the turning central disks on either end. When the mazes are solved it pulls the puzzle completely flush and locks them in place. The maze then has to be solved in reverse to change the shape back to a cube and solved again in order for the two pieces to pull down tight and flush again.
Fun fact: the first colorful puzzle is known as the tangram, and it is said to have originated when a someone delivering a expensive tile to the emperor (don't remember if it's chinese or japanese) but accidentally dropped it, they then spent hours trying to arrange it back into shape, discovering that they could also make lots of other shapes with it along the way
Chris, you've sparked a love of puzzles for me the past few years. Thanks so much, this was a fun one! Thanks for turning us on to Wes' content as well!
The Lemarchand's box, is an amazingly crafty machine. I actually make jewelry, tattoo machine, and locking/ slide boxes with several different designs, as to, bring the fictional boxes to light. There are currently over 270, fictional and many with only mentioned briefly. I have 5 different designs, though the original lament layout and artwork are my favorite. I've been watching Mr. Ramsey, for awhile now, and love the passion he exhibits for the puzzles and art that goes behind it all. Hope everyone has a great evening.
Love the dual puzzle solving. I agree with Lee in not being able to wait for you to solve the Lament puzzle. I would love to get your puzzle and try to solve it.
Love your channel! Even though I'm not solving the puzzle myself, I still enjoy watching your problem-solving process. And I think it's even improved my own problem-solving skills.
Never had a bir puzzle before but I love solving puzzles. Been doing puzzles since I was a kid. Love the content and it's always a pleasure to witness satisfaction at its finest on this channel
Ill do it!!! That would be awesome! After starting watching you forever ago, I bought a bunch of hanayama puzzles and some burr puzzles. The kids and I love playing with them. And then testing other people whenever they come over to see if their friends and family can solve them too. Puzzles are so much fun and we absolutely love your channel Chris! Thanks for the days worth of entertainment that we have all got to watch together as a family. You've even taught me magic tricks that I used to fool the daughters for awhile. Then they watched your videos to figure out how I did it lol!!!! Keep up the awesome content man, you are definitely doing something right my man.
Love watching you solving all sorts of puzzles, Chris makes puzzle solving so entertaining I have finally gone out and brought some. Keep the fantastic videos coming. I always look forward to seeing new ones every week
Love all your puzzle and magic videos. My son and I watch all your videos. Being he's autistic the first puzzle type to help him we did was I spy, since then he loves puzzles. Thank you for all you do, keep it up.
I really enjoyed the way you did this video. Don't get me wrong I like all of your videos, but I just really liked the whole two friends hanging out doing several different puzzles at the same time. Really cool. Keep it up.
Love these puzzles. Got me into puzzles again. Got beer bottles and the ice puzzle. Excited to try them out. Went straight to level 9 haha. Thanks guys!
I want that unsolved box! Love the videos Chris! Crazy how much enjoyment I get out of watching you struggle finding a solution for the task at hand, keep it up!
I was watching a DDE video on the Rolls Royce and they were talking to you. Decided to check out your channel and got to say I’m addicted to the point that I have purchased 3 puzzles so far. Keep up the great content my fellow Ontarian.
I love solving puzzles when i have the time, have several that my wife has watched me take apart and reassemble. When he said it wasn't satisfying, I was like yeah, because it's not correct.
Tangram puzzle!
Wes was on the right track at first, ironically.
I like that format, the two of you solving puzzles and chatting at the same time, sprinkle with some banter.
Chris is like the logical teacher, Wes is like the enthusiastic student who is so excited to show he knows what's going on.

same here...Wes had it...and then...blah...:)
Yes, I also thought he would have known it, I thought all schools had at least one XD
