Great video as always. My mother-in-law made the saltine crackers recipe a few times and we loved it. I tried to make it once but messed it up and haven’t tried again. You motivated me to try it again! 👏
I know the trill of getting a delicious food bargain. Last Friday, my store had spiral hams for 87 cents a pound, limit 1, with a $25 purchase. I bought one, came home, and prepped it into a lot of baggies for the freezer. Then I took the bone and made 7 peanut butter jars of ham broth for the freezer. The other food I bought was also on sale and I was able to use a few coupons. Win Win!
Loved the meal plan for the week. Reminded me of when Woman's Day magazine would have a meal plan for the month. Am definitely going to make the cracker recipe and the pecans as gifts for neighbors. Merry, Merry!

Wow Irene that's a lot of presents...lol! Possibly gift cards in smaller amounts might work for you . We do not buy for our siblings Paul and I. We share edible treats we have made. We do buy a gift for Paul's parents around $50 or so. I also present Paul's parents with cards that entitle them to one complete meal 1x a month for 12 months. So basically I make them a large complete meal once a month and take it to them. It usually lasts them several days. Paul and I exchange small gifts...maybe a Fender hat and T-shirt for him, some strings for his guitars... Our son this year I bought hime a complete bedding set (sheets, comforter, throw pillows etc.), the electric shaver, and a bunch of his favorite treats. We met with my brothers (and spouses) and Paul's sisters a while ago and discussed stopping gifts and everyone was for it. Our nieces and nephews are all adults as well. Don't know if that helped but we really keep gifts small and not the main focus.

I don’t want to buy things they won’t use, it’s hard to figure out what to buy, the 3 youngest, 11, 4,2 they’ll get a gift preferably chosen by their Mom. Great recipes. wish I'd seen that nut recipe before I finished wrapping my father-in-law's gift he would have loved those. I too have been busy baking. I made sugar cookies with homemade buttercream frosting, gingerbread cake, brownies, mint chip brownies, date squares, Chex mix, and caramel corn made out of the Chester's puffed butter corn. LOL that's just the beginning of my baking I have more to do next week! I'm finding even though we are in a pandemic, people are not opposed to eating my cooking LOL. they just want it left at their door.

I got so sick of saving money on my groceries this week.......sometimes being frugal sucks. When I saw that 90.00 beef tenderloin I wanted it so bad.......but didn't get it for the holiday. I got the .47 per pound turkey instead.
My store has been running a sale on ny sirloin steak for 3.99 lb. That would be a good compromise. Maybe you could get something like that for an upcoming meal as a little splurge!

I love the Christmas Treat you made, a young woman I know started making me a little box of this as a Christmas gift each year when she was around 13 and I absolutely LOVE it (Toffee and Caramel are my absolute favorites and this hits all the marks!). I’ve meant to ask you…what brand of silicone baking mats do you use? I am looking into getting some and have seen Silpat mats are rated well but are expensive, but they say the Amazon Basics brand is actually good and much less money. Thanks for you feedback on what you use. I did actually buy the silicone baking mat w/ the measurements on it for rolling out doughs and I love it. I only use it for that not in the oven since it is so large.
A2 brand of milk is milk that is old world A2 casein protein that is healthier for people. The A2/a2 is the best if available, it's organic grass fed beef.

Great haul! One extra frugal thing we do with whole chicken is every time we buy one, we remove the wings and vac seal them and freeze them. When there are enough frozen wings we thaw them, separate the drumettes from the wing and make a meal of them. We find that there isn't enough usable meat on the wings of a small roaster chicken to leave them on the bird but they will make a nice meal on their own or a great party snack. We used to butcher our own home raised chicken. On processing day we would take the time to make packages of wings for the whole year. Now that we don't raise our own birds we just save up the wings until we have enough for a meal.
I have a very small fridge/freezer and have been thinking about getting a chest freezer. What size is yours? Do you rememeber how much it cost you? Thanks for the video. 😊
Sarah ours is not a chest freezer it actually has shelves. I didn't want a chest freezer because I was afraid everything would get lost in the bottom. I needed a bit more organization lol! Nice grocery haul and use of what you have. Like you, we’ve been eating from the pantry, refrigerator/freezer. I mostly just buy milk, eggs, fruit and vegetables. Both recipes look delish.
I like the food hauls after the holidays. After Thanksgiving I got 40 1 pound bags of organic cranberries for a dollar a bag. I froze some and the rest I cooked and canned in half pint jars to spoon into smoothies. After last St Patrick's day Walmart had corned beef on sale for $1.99 a pound. I bought all 20 remaining flats and canned them in pint jars. It took all day canning but I can make corned beef and cabbage fresh in 10 minutes now.
What great meat deals! We make the toffee too its always a big hit. I think the pecans will be a great addition to a cookie tin. Who doesn't love a sweet treat at the holidays.

You have to make a chicken stock (with the leftover bones) for your freezer. I saw those great meat sales at ShopRite but I don’t eat meat. Great freezer additions, that’s the way to preplan.

I stumbled upon $.79/lb chicken thighs. We already had a bunch, but so much you can do with them! I also found some kind of salad mix that was $.49. My husband loved whole milk, and they had a very high-quality milk on sale for $1.89 (Normally double that price). I bought 2 of them and put one in the freezer. I think out best deal was the lunchables, a case of 8 of them for $6. Sometimes the kids just need something quick and easy for dinner or lunch. I got quite a bit of food for only about $20. Oh, the carrots! My babies LOVE baby carrots, and I got a 2# bag for $.78! We already had some carrots, but we will probably bring it with us when we go on our trip for Christmas. I think with all the stuff we got today, we may not need to shop until after Christmas, maybe after New Years!

My butter was salted but my saltines where the kind with the unsalted top. The salt gives it a little bit of a nice twist with the sweet. Basically whatever your preference is...either way it will work wonderfully!
I love stocking up when ShopRite has the digital coupons on items! Great deals! Next week they have another deal on the butter, time to stock the freezer!

Great haul! One extra frugal thing we do with whole chicken is every time we buy one, we remove the wings and vac seal them and freeze them. When there are enough frozen wings we thaw them, separate the drumettes from the wing and make a meal of them. We find that there isn't enough usable meat on the wings of a small roaster chicken to leave them on the bird but they will make a nice meal on their own or a great party snack. We used to butcher our own home raised chicken. On processing day we would take the time to make packages of wings for the whole year. Now that we don't raise our own birds we just save up the wings until we have enough for a meal.

Sarah ours is not a chest freezer it actually has shelves. I didn't want a chest freezer because I was afraid everything would get lost in the bottom. I needed a bit more organization lol! Freezers have been a hot commodity since the start of the pandemic. But I have started to see them on Facebook market.
Nice grocery haul and use of what you have. Like you, we’ve been eating from the pantry, refrigerator/freezer. I mostly just buy milk, eggs, fruit and vegetables. Both recipes look delish.

I like the food hauls after the holidays. After Thanksgiving I got 40 1 pound bags of organic cranberries for a dollar a bag. I froze some and the rest I cooked and canned in half pint jars to spoon into smoothies. After last St Patrick's day Walmart had corned beef on sale for $1.99 a pound. I bought all 20 remaining flats and canned them in pint jars. It took all day canning but I can make corned beef and cabbage fresh in 10 minutes now.

You have to make a chicken stock (with the leftover bones) for your freezer. I saw those great meat sales at ShopRite but I don’t eat meat. Great freezer additions, that’s the way to preplan.

Dixie is precious! I’m making my family peanut butter fudge.Its a easy recipe too. Peanut butter sugar evaporated milk butter marshmallow creme.

I stumbled upon $.79/lb chicken thighs. We already had a bunch, but so much you can do with them! I also found some kind of salad mix that was $.49. My husband loved whole milk, and they had a very high-quality milk on sale for $1.89 (Normally double that price). I bought 2 of them and put one in the freezer. I think out best deal was the lunchables, a case of 8 of them for $6. Sometimes the kids just need something quick and easy for dinner or lunch. I got quite a bit of food for only about $20. Oh, the carrots! My babies LOVE baby carrots, and I got a 2# bag for $.78! We already had some carrots, but we will probably bring it with us when we go on our trip for Christmas. I think with all the stuff we got today, we may not need to shop until after Christmas, maybe after New Years!

Dixie is so adorable! We had to put our fur baby, Miles, down a month ago. I miss him so much yet. They just worm there way in to your heart and never let go! Sure wish pets had much longer life spans.

My butter was salted but my saltines where the kind with the unsalted top. The salt gives it a little bit of a nice twist with the sweet. Basically whatever your preference is...either way it will work wonderfully!
