This sing was everywhere when it came out. Still love it! This was a crossover hit for them.
Went to rehab. My best friend was all I had left in the world. This song came on the day she came to visit me. She saved my life. I needed somebody. She was there and never left. This song played a big part in changing the outcome of my life.

A) went to high school with the bassist and B) they’ve been one of the best bands over the last few years
It's just good American rock. Nothing flashy. It's not perfect, his voice cracks, but that's what makes it real. You will not hear an album like this anymore. I did a fair aboutn of recording in the 90s and 2000s, nothing anyone here would have heard, but I know how it worked. Today with quantizing of the little imperfections, pitch correction and the timing being accurate enough for NASA to use just kinda removed much of the human element.
If you want to hear an AMAZING record, listen to "The Trinity Sessions" from the Cowboy Junkies. The entire album was recorded in Trinity Church somewhere up in Canada. We're almost in we're almost the entire album they use this singular ambient microphone that they all performed live around, they didn't do separate tracks. If the levels of a particular instrument was too low, they had to physically move the amp towards the mic. The acoustic guitar was too quiet, so be had to play closer.
It honestly is in the over four decades of listening to music, the best sounding album I've ever heard. That doesn't include the songs themselves I'm talking about just the tone of the album is incredible. The album itself is excellent too, half of it are Townes Van zandt songs. You might have heard of some: sweet Jane, misguided angel, a cowboys lament, etc. their next album had a lot of great songs too, but they recorded it in the more traditional manner in it just doesn't have the magic that first one did.
This is a great song. Would be cool to see you react to the cover of this song done by Haley Williams of Paramore. She did a nice job covering it.

It's been a long time since an American band has written and played as well as this band. Great in concert. Yes, Caleb's voice is very soulful. Their story is fascinating.

this album is amazing from start to finish! it was in my cd player when I brought my first born daughter home from the hospital 12 years ago!!!! anytime i hear it thats the first memory that pops in my head.

Brilliant I love Kings of Leon. My 2 favourites are "WALLS" and "100,000 People".
I knew the 3 brothers in this band when they were kids. OH MY GOD, they were hilariously rotten. Lol Their parents would tell us the funniest stories about the things they did and said. We still tell them because they were ornery little monsters! Lol I was sad when I found out their mother died. She was very sweet and when we were all young I thought she was so beautiful! We all went to the same church back then.
My high school buddies & I LOVED this band! The Kings of Leon are all related too (3 brothers + their cousin). 🔥🎸🥁
Caleb Followill has one of thoose voices,i tend to compare him to greats like Bryan Adams,Rod Stewart etc,a voice you recognize within the first couple of seconds singing. Theese guys are all related btw. They named theyr band after theyr father and grandfather that both had the name Leon. My favourite song by them (this one is following right after) is the cool basslined song Closer. If you havent heard that one yet,then its a good suggestion for the future.
From about 2007-2012, this was the best pure rock band in the world. If you want some other great ones, check out "Sex on Fire", "Radioactive", and "Back Down South"

Y’all should watch their documentary “Talihina Sky” that’s the name of the Oklahoma( okie girl here too 😉” town they grew up in. Their dad was a traveling Pentecostal preacher for a lot of those years. I still listen to this album. I was in my early early 30’s when they released this one. I’m 47 now and still love all their music 🫶🏼
