@@JohnWick-su2nh how would you feel if you lived in a different city, then wanted to move to San Diego and they said “sorry we don’t sell houses anymore because we need less people here” dreams crushed huh?
I’ve found San Diego very unique in its own right. It’s because it’s a very well-known city, but not for everybody. The weather is perfection 7-8 months out of the year where it feels neither hot, cold, or warm. Just very room temperature with a few token warm or hot weeks in late summer or early fall and maybe 40 at the coldest in winter. You can live comfortably in your home never running heat or AC. The downtown skyline has no remarkable buildings of note, just a few skyscrapers and high-rise apartments. The cost of living. It’s very high, but not nearly as bad as the Bay Area and a little cheaper than LA and Orange County. Food. Best Mexican food I’ve ever had is in Barrio Logan at Las Quattro Milpas, a Family-owned cafeteria with a limited menu of homemade tortillas, tacos, beans and rice, and tamales. Also The Chicken Pie Shop is worthy for All-American comfort food. People. They’re a lot more chill, live and let live, and not all concerned about money and social status for the most part. A millionaire in La Jolla and working man living in Claremont will talk to each other. Beaches. Better than LA, but a little cold for some. Coronado, La Jolla, and Belmont are the main ones. A mediocre Major League Baseball team that’s been around 50 years, but never stood out or won the World Series. Amusement parks are Sea World and Legoland just outside the city, nowhere near the hype of Disneyland or Six Flags. The downside is if you’re a flashy person into sophisticated culture, the arts, and nightlife, you’ll probably be disappointed and bored. And most of the folks are conservative that hate the liberal policies of most of California.

If you're not making six figures, you're not making it. Unless you want roommates for life. I've been fortunate to have lived here all my life, and watch the cost of living skyrocket while wages remain stagnant. Driving culture is very aggressive, somewhat similar to Los Angeles, but I feel it's worse. Public transportation sucks. Nearly everyone drives. People typically drive at least a half hour to get to work, typically more. Who knows what it will be like after COVID, but this is a major food place, so if you like variety, you will not be bored. Great place for beer lovers. Everyone in Hillcrest has a dog and no one picks up their dog poop, so be prepared to step in it if you live there.. San Diego County is not a melting pot but a bunch of small, very different communities. Some parts have people living in the present day, and some are very racist. There are very poor areas, but mostly middle class, and some well-to-do to very rich. If you like the beach, be prepared for the smell (it's horrible, unless you like the stink of kelp). There are hiking trails which are nice and away from city noise. The best thing about San Diego is the weather- just about year-round beautiful weather. It rarely rains and you can go exercising outside and plan events easily. You'll never have to scrape snow!
I can’t tell if you love it or hate it. Ha. Cost of living is obviously the biggest negative. I actually don’t mind the traffic as I lived in LA for 9 years. But I guess it really depends on where you live and work.

Mello-Roos- are building fees on new construction permits that are passed on to the buyers. The are set by local government that allows the builder to pass the permit fees to the buyers over a set time. Look up how much City of San Diego collects from new construction.
Do you think it would be unrealistic for me to move there next fall?? I used to live there as a kid & i miss it. I’m 19, I have about $8000 in savings SO FAR from my job that I have now. I don’t have a car. I want to transfer schools to SDSU but I’m not too sure about living in a dorm. I would like to live in a suite style student apartment or just live on my own in a studio that’s close to school & by the beach. I guess I’m mostly worried about expenses. Like out of state tuition, rent etc. Is it unrealistic for me to move out there for next fall?
I think anything is possible. I obviously don’t know your entire situation and in-state tuition is way cheaper then out of state here in California. My two cents - don’t rack up a ton of college debt when you can get the same education in whatever state your for a quarter of the price. You can always move to San Diego after college with all the money you would have saved. But it is possible especially if you have roommates.
If you can live somewhere near a trolley station you really don't need a car to go to SDSU. The trolley will take you right on to campus, as well as downtown and other places.
@@NewWorldOrderFilms2030 Who lives on their own when they first move out? Get some roommates! There will be drama, but that's part of the fun when you are 19 years old.
It really depends on the area. San Diego is pretty large. But I would say anywhere between. $400,000-$800,000. Sorry I know it’s a big range but hard to exactly unless we narrow down the area
I am biracial Irish , German Jamaican and Spanish. I am a college graduate of Harvard and NYU Stern Business School. I own my own Insurance Agency - Senior Life Agency of Los Angeles through World Financial Group. So here is my reason for desiring a move to San Diego California. First I do life insurance from home here in NYC all over California, second interracial relationships are dead and no where to be found in NYC. I have lived many places including Los Angeles and no have I seen a place so segregated. San Diego California is listed as a colorblind environment where in does not matter who you love or want to share your life with. This is important to me because in NYC segregation is front and center and is you are biracial like me there's just no chance to find love if you are black/ mixed seeking a White female in a relationship. So bring in San Diego would you say people are open minded and accepting and more concerned about the character and content of a person over race? I am sure many more people have this concern but are afraid to ask. Thank you and I will wait for your response.
Hi guys! I want to move to cali! I'm considering San Diego... and to go to grad school for my masters in social work. Don't really know what's right and where to start. Any ideas or tips?
I will do a pros/cons list...i'll start with con first...please click "read more" full review on here. Con - San Diego can feel like a small town even though it is larger than San Francisco. Many times you will often run into the same people or someone you know when you are out. Same if you date someone, they might know someone else you might already know. Can be a very incestuous city. Also there is not enough industry in the city. There are far more various jobs in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Cost of living is expensive for a city with the lack of industry. Can also run on the conservative side, many Reagan era Republicans with their Vanity plates on their cars (because they still think Vanity plates are in fashion). Also common courtesy is lacking, pedestrians do not thank you for letting them cross the road or street, drivers have a bad habit of not letting drivers merge into lanes on the highway, many start driving faster to block the drivers from merging out of spite! People are also very thin skinned if you say anything bad about San Diego, they get defensive like it was an insult to them personally. Lastly it is very transient, so many people always moving in and moving out...which can be hard to develop any relationships that way. There is a trend where many people are moving out of San Diego, and California in general, the last census form showed the slowest growth in any time in history. Now I will list the pluses... I saved the plus for after, since everyone talks about the positives only... Plus - Best weather in the entire state (although SD gets over shadowed by SF and LA it still has better overall weather year round, not as cool or hot as the rest of California). It is also CHEAPER than Los Angeles and San Francisco. The quality of life is better because of the laid back 'bro/dude/hey man' culture of people. Even the females emulate it, man. Especially people in their 20s to mid 40s. People are generally nicer in San Diego compared to other bigger cities in California. It is more slow paced (except at the supermarket or on the highways when letting other cars merge into a lane). You don't need to really dress expensive here, many people wear t-shirts and cheap flip flops in restaurants and stores. Where you went to college and the level of education you have is also not as big of a deal in San Diego, it's not judgmental. The beaches are not as crowded and parking is usually free. It is a right to life city, not and work to live city...many people like it so much they purposely chose careers or jobs where they earn less just to stay in San Diego. People don't have to move to San Diego...they chose to. Any other city you move to in California, or the country will be a downgrade in climate compared to San Diego which is more mild year round.
Hi you're both probably way too young to answer this question but I'm going to give it a go. First I've been all over California when I was younger but never as far south of San Diego. I'm a senior now so I was living in Miami and San Diego looks way bigger! But I need a climate with a lot less humidity originally from Colorado so dry heat is welcome. But my question is are there any Senior Communities at all there?? or is San Diego pretty much for the younger crowd like Key west in Florida is? The changing of the seasons is not a con for me LOL that's one of the reasons I am really considering San Diego I have a very progressed very painful Rheumatic disease. So pretty much even weather no extreme highs and lows with lower humidity it's what I need. San Diego is so freaking big I didn't realize it was such a big city. Maybe I should check out Baja California maybe that's smaller? Thanks in advance sorry I rambled on so long LOL
Hi there. San Diego actually have a lot of 55+ communities as well as Senior communities. There are a bunch in Rancho Bernardo and Carlsbad. Those would be a good place to start

I did not need a car there because I lived downtown and had access to closeness of neighborhoods, and shopping a short accessible bus ride away.
Thanks for sharing the pros along with the cons about living in San Diego!
San Diego is nice I want to visit there on my vacation later on this year amazing views and good quality of the culture.
Hey Bernie. Brian Bradley. Good stuff. Philly Philly!❤🍀👍

I will live in San Diego one day 🙏🤞
I hope you make it!
Botanical gardens! Don't forget that it's fantastic!
I’m trying to move to Southern California inside the next few months. San Diego looks wonderful to me. I’m a British soccer coach. The cost of living is so expensive in the UK plus its cold. California doesn’t seem that expensive to me. Thanks for the info!
I will like to me u sir
Did you get to make it here?
@@copiouscat hey! Not yet but I’m planning on staying in a Co living pod in Santa Monica from October 1st for a month to check the place out. The US had a travel ban in place up until Nov 11th last year then had to get vaccinated etc so its been delayed. Can’t wait to get there! Southern California looks like paradise to me.
@@Jackp0410 You will love Santa Monica! I hope the co living pod is IH (that’s one of the best imo) it’s smack center in Santa Monica. And best of luck to you I really hope you get to make it out here 😊
@@copiouscat I haven’t actually decided which one yet so thanks for the recommendation. Have you got a website address for them? I’ll check them out.
Can you grow vegetables year round and is it a dry climate or is it humid ??
Yes - they grow all year round here. The climate is definitely on the dry side
I will be moving to San diego soon 🙏🏼
Very cool. Do you know where you’ll be living yet?
Best things about San Diego: Beaches and weather.
Sharks watch out no jokes my friend lost his leg there in 1990s
Even with all those cons you mentioned, I think the pros outweigh them! Great video!
you can ofc live in north sd county around oceanside or escondido
What do you guys do for a living?
We work in real estate
I was there last week. Is there a time of year when the Haze is better or worst? I did want to enjoy the sunset more, but I encountered quite a few Haze heavy evenings.
Hey you two, I was born & raised in San Diego, the weather puts any other big city IN THE DUST!
P.S.
basketball and football are for the unpatriotic.
SAN Francisco/ LA has more Art museums perhaps one is full of smog the other full of Fog!!
I’m thinking of moving there with my family from Japan. Thirst videos are great. Thank you ✌🏿
Glad you enjoy them! Let us know if we can help

Love it here
Agreed - Thanks for watching!
Is Sabre Springs a good neighborhood? I would love to know more about it.
It is! Very centrally locates right by the 56 and 15 Freeway. Good schools and shoot right downtown if you need to. Great breakfast spot there too
Living in San Diego cool! Thanks!
The weather is 👍👍👍👍
Agreed!
Was in san Diego from 1997 to 2016 with a few years stationed in japan and oxnard, now in chicago for a year now regrets leaving awesome video.. san diego on my mind 😎
Lack of seasons=pro
Yeah I’ll have good weather all year round please
Ha Agreed. But I still miss the occasional storm

I lived in Dallas and the traffic was a lot worse there.
@@BernMcGovern im 19 unemployed looking for a job in san diego to work minimum wage.... im in utah and honeslty it fucking sucks out here man not alot to do very cold winters windy lots of opiods and drug users lmao mormons everywhere... so unless you mormon and or are 65 retired utah is not the place for you bruh any tips before i move to san diego
If you're not making six figures, you're not making it in any of the 3 most expensive coastal cities in CA: San Francisco/ San Jose, Los Angeles and San Diego. Sadly...😑
How is Bernardo Center Dr... Can I get more information and what's the minimum rent for tiny/micro apartment? Planning to move in January 2022
Love San Diego born and raised
Guys, you're awesome! I'm so willing to visit this amazing city one day!
I would love to move out that way someday. I'm a Philly native as well who currently lives in NYC (Bronx) since 93. I'm so ready for a change. I hate the cold weather, the cold people, and rising crime here. Perhaps I can find low income housing there. I'm older now and looking for a calmer existence. I just subscribed to your channel. I will be watching... 👀
Thanks for watching Kiki! Let me know if you ever have questions about the area.

Mello-Roos- are building fees on new construction permits that are passed on to the buyers. The are set by local government that allows the builder to pass the permit fees to the buyers over a set time. Look up how much City of San Diego collects from new construction.
It’s a lot
I just moved here from Miami
Welcome!
i want a house in la jolla
ZyxCda me too!
That would be a dream!!
Del Mar and Encinitas are even nicer.
HA, HA, HA Dream ON

If you make 100k and pay rent can you live comfortably ?
Moving to SD at the end of the month, thanks for the sharing!
A studio apartment is 1600-1950. You will need a job or a college loan.
How much is a average 3bed 2bath home
It really depends on the area. San Diego is pretty large. But I would say anywhere between. $400,000-$800,000. Sorry I know it’s a big range but hard to exactly unless we narrow down the area
Living in San Diego or how much is rent for the 4beds and 2baths
$500,000+
I mean rent
Ah my mistake - somewhere between. $2500-4500
chargers moved to LA but im still a chargers fan!! and think many of the former fans will feel that way too..
I feel like a lot of their San Diego fans do not like Spanos and have disowned the Chargers
From Delco really thinking about moving there
I am biracial Irish , German Jamaican and Spanish.
This is important to me because in NYC segregation is front and center and is you are biracial like me there's
just no chance to find love if you are black/ mixed seeking a White female in a relationship.
Any ideas or tips?
can i start high school in san deigo ?
Can we have you in our next video??
just found this channel here to support!
Thanks Mario!
What are the possibilities of migrating to California???
Off the 5/52 here. We've been here 10 years (from CT) and you provide some good content. How about brewery's? That's a top 5 for sure!
Breweries are Top 1 for me! I think we may do a whole video on them
Hi you're both probably way too young to answer this question but I'm going to give it a go.
@@BernMcGovern oh thank you so much I probably came off a sounding like a wealthy senior living in Miami. But that I am not but thank you so very much for the start so very much appreciated💗

South Orange County or north San Diego county? Which is better?
Both great spots but I like the vibe in San Diego more then Orange County. But I think it’s more of a personal preference

Is San Diego a good place to go places on biking
I would say San Diego has a big biking community. Downtown is very accessible by bike and there are tons of mountain biking trails through out a San Diego especially in North County in San Diego.
Living in San Diego oh nice especially if is in downtown because I’m not a car friendly I love to travel in bike but here in Colorado is freezing temperatures in winter and I hate it I want to be 70 degrees all year long
If you are considering new topics for videos, could you please do video about the job market in different sectors and how the opportunities and salaries compares with other places in the nation?
