My fanily and i Moved to San Diego last Sept 2021 from jersey, no regrets at all. We love it here.
Most people living in San Diego really miss out when they are afraid of Mexico or write it off. One of the best parts of being in San Diego is proximity to a totally different economy like that.
How's the Violence in San Diego Brother?
Tell that to the tourists who get their heads cut off in mexico.
It’s very expansive here but you will never get bored, can go anywhere you like even if you don’t drive coz a lot or public transpiration, go out anytime or the day coz of the good nice sunny weather!
Moved here in 2017. No way I could move here today and afford the same house I bought in 2017. Real estate prices definitely changed since we've been here. Crazy!
Yup inflation is real! 🤪
Vlog was next level. Have lived in CA my whole life (71years) and I learned so much from you. Keep up the good work!
bruh.. you get TWO THUMBS UP for sneaking in the "that's what she said" line.... totally wasn't expecting it and was perfectly executed. WELL DONE!
Haha glad someone appreciates it! 🤣
This month I will be moving back to Tijuana, MX and find work in San Diego. I have already lived in TJ for five weeks recently just to get a feel for it. Last July and this past December I was in TJ and San Diego but I prefer TJ because the cost of living is just significantly cheaper. All in total, I have spent six weeks in TJ and only five days in San Diego. The high costs just gives me the cold chills and makes me want to get out fast. Working in San Diego is a big plus though if you live in TJ. I like California and the western region because there are so many places to go to.
When I was in San Diego I found it pretty easy to get around with public transit.
Great video Jay! It's cool that you covered the pros and cons of living in San Diego with no bias. Just facts! 💪😎 🔥🔥.
Thanks DJ! Gotta let everyone know!
So detailed great video!!
#1 con: Cost of Living! Way over-inflated property values and the highest utility rates in the country!
Couple of weeks from now I'll be moving in downtown San Diego. This video is a big help for first timers like me. Thank you for this one bro.
Nice! Have a great move to SD and thanks for watching! Glad the videos help!
Good luck! I just moved out of downtown. The homeless population has tripled since covid and a shanty town essentially sprung up around my apartment
this is such a good, informative channel. I've done tons of research on socal and yours is easily the best for SD. bingwatched most of the SD content and im sure the world/LV content will be equally amazing
San Diego has everything - beautiful beaches, awesome weather, fresh air, friendly people, and lots of attractions. Everything, but a football team. Thanks for giving us Justin Herbert and The Bolts! 🏈
Lol u can have them 🤣
i was staitioned there back during the 1980's and it was very nice. It does get chilly there during the winter but not too cold. I enjoyed the landscape plus the cleaniness . very clean city for its size. although i like the east coast better, i would not mind san diego for a second residency
#Boltup ⚡️
I’m planning on movie from Phoenix to San Diego. Can’t beat the weather, ocean, and the amount of things to do. I do hope the keep expanding public transit and walking/biking infrastructure. The perfect city for it.
Nice! Yeah public transport will take a while to improve but this city is beautiful!
That's hilarious because I'm moving to Phoenix Arizona I get paid way more money out there than I do in San Diego.. Phoenix is booming so much right now..💪🙏
@@djramirez8635 yea Phoenix is nice just prefer San Diego, better summers, significantly more to do, beaches, and from what I’m seeing the same if not better salaries for my skill set.
@@basedoz5745 love Phoenix for spring training though!
Yasssss my and my fiancee are also here in boring twilight zone pheonix im bringing him there he is from africa😀😀😀
Great video👍🏼
I definitely feel head over heels for San Diego when I was there in November.
Such a beautiful city!
Nice to see and hear what's life looks like in this part of US. Thanks for video. Best wishes from Serbia/Europe.
Very nice video and scenery, and info on San Diego, i really enjoyed this, also dig those cool sun shades you’re wearing , also became a subscriber as well, thanks for sharing…👌👍👏😀😀
Thanks for the support! Glad u enjoy SD!
I love your videos 🙏🏼. I moved to SD from the bay about 2 years ago and I still have a lot to explore.
I got one for you…San Diego Gas & Electric
Such a rip off!
😂😂😂 SDG&E sucks lol
I lived in San Diego for my entire life up until 2020 because we moved out of state to Texas I love it here. But I miss my home town also being born there I know all pros and cons there like for example Newport with hodads and the beach and just OB in general. But quite the amount of crime and homeless there but still love it in San Diego can’t wait to go back in the summer!
This is right on time. I love this. I want to move to SD in the next 5 years. Thanks for all the info!
Thats awesome Tamila! Hope u have a great move!
I'll move there in 2026
You forgot to mention that San Diego has the largest sport fishing fleet in the world. People travel from all over the world to fish out of San Diego.
Spiny lobster season is the best haha
Thank you planing to move there July can’t wait 😛
Great comparison and video bro, thank you☘️♾️🇺🇲
Thank you for the video. I'll be moving to the Gaslamp district this summer. I am so excited
10yrs I lived in SD from Mid 80’s to Mid 90’s and I can related to all. Traffic for sure was getting worse when I left. Cost of living wasn’t expensive as it is now. I’ll always miss the great sunny weather and so much family things to do.
But is it worse than Los Angeles traffic lol
Lately, I’ve really been enjoying sandwiches and had Mitch’s Seafood been there when I was living in San Diego, I would have gone there regularly. I don’t remember anyone telling me about Mitch’s. A good fish sandwich when you’re craving it cannot be passed up!
Good information. Love san Diego ❤️
Thanks Belinda! I love my hometown
This video was spot on
I am considering moving someplace in So Cal, so learning more. Thanks for this!
you're gonna love SoCal!!!
Awesome job jay and I still love San Diego.
Thanks bro! SD loves you
I know
Heading to SD this weekend… it’s been 4 years. Little Italy is a great area, but the homeless population was the worst and most aggressive I’ve ever seen on my last visit. But expected with 73 degrees year-round.
Yes, the food! LOVE Mitch’s Seafood on/near Shelter Island. Sit outside with your food to watch the fishing boats go in & out! So many other spots to eat amazing fish too.
Yup! Just watch out for those seagulls trying to prey on your food lol
Hey Jay I'm from SD grew up off university and 54th grad from Crawford high but live on east coast now but glad I found your channel maybe I can trade some stories in the early days of Coronado Pt Loma etc great channel though
Great video Jay! Like that padre hat
Thanks dude! Yeah that SD hat is too dope not to cop
I almost moved to San Diego in 2016. The cost is what stopped me. I'll be back to visit soon! Have a wonderful day.
Just means you gotta hustle harder to get what you want. Love SD 🤙🏼🏝☀️
Youre the best Stef! SD would love to have u
Awesome video brother, highly considering moving to SD with my young family after we transition out of the military, and I feel really informed of both sides of the coin after this. Thanks so much. Only small gripe I have is the Wave are not a minor league team, my dude! Top pro league for women's soccer in America! 🍻
Just moved here Jay. Love your videos been great helping me find good stuff and filled with good insight! Would love to meet you sometime hopefully I run into ya! take care.
Awesome Gino! Thanks for watching, hope u have a great transition to SD. Im always out and about so if u see me say hi!
respect to those in san diego helping the homeless
My old coworker dick lewis, former police officer feeds the homeless every thursday night til this day
Earthquakes , funny you should mention that , my kids live there and called me about it 😳 , great video Jaycation , thank you so much 😊❤️
Yeah we had a quick one this past weekend!
Great Video on Americas Finest City
Thanks Alan! Americas finest it truly is!
Semper Fi! Loved being stationed at MCAS Miramar
Thanks for your service!
Next time can you talk about the boating life in San Diego? I lived aboard in the 90s at a couple marinas and the lifestyle cannot be beat💖...and do you still have live aboards there? Thanks for the great videos...
Yes, I am planning on moving to San Diego. Lived in Rancho Bernardo way back when, but now I am wanting to live closer to the coast. I am in Northern CA now.
I just got accepted into SDSU for SLP Grad School....San Diego here I come! ❤
I was getting worried in the first half with all the cons. I thought you'd be moving to Texas. But you brought it back with all the pros 😅
Haha the pros are easy to discuss. Its the cons that gotta be highlighted first n foremost
I did basic training in MCRD 2002 Jan-Apr
I'll movie to North America in 2025 but i didn't decid yet wether I should move to Vancouver Canada or San Diego California. It's been said that San Diego has the best weather, no snow in the winter. While in Vancouver Canada rain almost 60% of the time. So San Diego is City I'll be exploring for the meantime.
Thanks for the Video.
I used to live there and would absolutely love to move back but it costs just so much!
Hope u get to move back!
I moved to New Jersey from Tucson az for work. I used to go to San Diego all the time back in Az, something is attracting me to move there. It’s really all I think about
Please support the
My husband is looking at a job opportunity in San Diego. I’m born and raised in Michigan and am terrified of the idea of being in a big city. Trying to learn more to not be as worried..
The great thing about San Diego tho is that it’s a big city but much slower than most big cities. We’re really “laid back” lol hope your spouse got the job here!!
I appreciate the time and effort into this video. My family and I are possibly moving there. And I have so many worries. Washington to California.
how is it? my family is thinking of this move to
@@a.a.3879 We decided to stay in Washington.
Puerto Vallarrrrta... Beautiful city, my home before Vegas
Whaaat? Always learning something new about u!
@@Jaycation lmao. No not Puerto Vallarrrrta.... San Diego, and you know this
Haha i misinterpreted it as u had a brief stint in puerto vallarta between SD & LV 🤣
Wow, I actually took that sunset photo in your thumbnail about fifteen years ago. Very cool. Not asking for anything, just cool to see it used.
Really?! Thats amazing what a shot. Thanks for capturing a beautiful part of SD
Mabuhay Jay!!!
Mabuhay to you as well!
Great vid. Actually, I believe Alaska has thee most earthquakes in the U.S. Agree about most of it n learned a few things as well (mostly about sports info), but U left out a few things from a female perspective (awesome shopping, farmers markets, flea markets, outlet malls especially near Mexico border, etc.). I truly LOVE San Diego bcuz was raised most of my life there, but extremely high Cost of living, very high gas prices, high taxes way too expensive n could no longer afford to live in my own home city, so we moved out-of-state, but hope to come back for a brief visit in the future tho.
Enjoyed it n ty for sharing🥰
Seaworld too!
So many things to do in SD!
You have a really solid channel! 🔥 I'm a UA-camr too, I plan to move to San Diego by April latest. Maybe I'll bump into you sometime, I longboard too lol
You guys need an MLS and an NBA team! Having an NFL would be really tough to get just because of so many transplants from other cities rooting for their teams. I get it. I lost my Raiders up here in the Bay Area. Great content!
We still have an MLB teams at least
I think the small airport is a huge pro. I hate getting lost in airports and rushing if I’m ever late for a flight.
Agreed! Although terminal 1 is a mess at the moment
After school (healthcare) I am thinking about moving here 💖💖
On my way
Don’t forget San Diego County has beaches 🏖 mountains 🏔 and deserts 🌵
i will be moving to 4s ranch! love your vids and love San Diego! these cons aren't as bad as where I'm at!
4s ranch is great! Where do u live now?
@@Jaycation it is we love it there my brother lives there. We are coming from Denver Colorado
Nice! Im going to Denver in May for my best friends bachelor party
@@Jaycation awesome! Make sure you check out some of Denver’s best breweries!
@@Jaycation I also thinks it’s so cool that you reply to comments! My family has watched a lot of your videos!!!
I luv the Jersey. If I have a good opportunity in SD than LA. I would move there
Thanks! Yeah SD over LA for sure
Coronado, CA, have a two party system: Nadians and Zonies. Love them all!
Great Video!!!, Im planning to move to San Diego within the next 3-5 years, and I would really make a plan about it and know about many thing that I need to consider. So definitly I would like to keep in touch by email to ask a little bit more . Thank You
If only. Even if we had no debt we couldn't do 3000-5000 per month for rent. But at least it's only a few hours away. Great video =)
California is the most populous state, not third. Love SD, and your vids help when looking for fun or interesting things, thanks!!~
It may be small but you can fly to Tokyo, London, and Munich one way from San Diego so better then LAX
Great video! You forgot to mention our four different climates. Visitors can go to the mountains, beach, desert and inland. They have choices. That's another reason why they should rent a car when visiting. And San Diego's known for having the best burgers. I heard that somewhere. But when I think about it, we do have great burgers here. Personally, I like the Mexican and sea food!
Moving from SF to SD next month!
Great video! Do they give teacher discounts at certain places?
What do you teach?
@@mdavy8501 special education
do you think is it possible to move from italy to california at 21/22 years old? like i don’t have much experience for the CV and i’m afraid because i wanna live there but prices are so high compare to italy and idk if i can get a job “easily”
Late on this but the only real con of moving to San Diego is, of course, EXPENSIVE. If nice houses were $300,000 half the country would move there. If costs were the same as Texas who in their right mind would move to Texas over beautiful oceanfront temperate SD
If I could move back to that city, I would.
San Diego is the greatest city in the USA! I wish I still could live there.
Very good video! I live in The Netherlands and I have visited San Diego multiple times. My biggest dream is to move to San Diego one day 🤞🏽.
One question: What would you say about the job opportunities over there?
Nice! I miss the Netherlands! Job Opportunities really depend on the area of expertise but for the most part opportunities are pretty competitive here
I'm from San Diego and just moved to Amsterdam for a PhD! I predict traveling to San Diego like 3 times a year tho 😂I love it so much lol
@@esmeraldaalcantar3209 speak it to existence!
small airport, no transportation and only one major sport team. great weather. The downtown is getting worse with homelessness with not let up
born and raised in SD and although i love my city, it's time for me to go..
Why though. San Diego is the place to be. You will hate it Anywhere else in the U.S. unless you are moving somewhere else In California. I moved from San Diego to the Southern United States and I feel like i traveled back in time. Dont do it you will regret it.
@@moisesleon5200 Spent my college years in California and am now back in Texas, I 100% agree.
is it because of politics, lockdowns and insane homeless people?
That TJ border airport is a huge pro!!
I gotta take advantage of that sometime!
Yes, and the most popular flight is to CDMX!
@@homerb3368 is that where alan flies to?
Yes, and I did it once from TJ on Jon’s wedding, and before I did it from SAN on Alaska( not in business anymore because of CBX - cross border Xpress into TJ airport from Otay Mesa).
@@homerb3368 i have to fly out of there sometime
I'm actually looking forward to the new SDSU West stadium that can actually be filled by fans, and its expandable...just not NFL size. I hated that the Chargers left, but its the fault of the politicians, developers, the Chargers, and the city citizens who couldn't make it work, but honestly, even as an avid fan and former season ticket holder, I think they probably are in a better situation, and the Chargers didn't have to pay for a stadium... what a deal. Anyway we have too many people who moved here (or just non sports fans) that didn't care about the Chargers or felt they were leaches with their ticket guarantee that wouldn't vote for a new stadium for the Spanos Family.
Too much greed in the NFL. 🙄
when i see jaycation in his padres jersey i start watching and click like
Always gotta rep that padres jersey!
Another pro is dog friendly San Diego! Most shopping centers have pet friendly outdoor areas.
Best dog beaches! Coronado, Ocean Beach, Del Mar. San Diego is the most dog-friendly city in the US if not the world.
If you’re moving to SD just because of weather and beaches, think again. Unless you can afford more than $2k monthly expenses the weather or nice beaches will not pay for your rent Or mortgage.
Definitely not cheap here!
@@Jaycation I still miss SD hope to move back in a few years.
Santa Ann Winds? Yes, it is felt in San Diego.
What about the nightlife? You left out the Gaslamp district. Probably one of the more famous places San Diego is known for.
Thank you. Few questions though -
1) How is the water temperature on the beaches during summers? If the temp is 75-80 then i wonder whether it will be cold to get in the water.
2) Can you please suggest a few good public elementary schools?
Thanks
There are over 70 public golf courses, and you can play year-round, too. Bike trails everywhere and you cannot block off access to the coast areas with private property; it is all free access. Hiking trails, a great zoo, beautiful bodies abound, and some may even show interest in you. You don't have to make alternative plans due to the weather, either. The cops leave you alone so it's not a police state. Government does not tell you how to dress, how to pray or who to love. This town is great, I would venture to say, "America's finest city".
I like your site and its fun watching your content. As a life long resident of Escondido and Chula Vista I would l like to put some perspective on your opinion and information. All your cons are correct but there are so so much more and I don't need to mention them here. You did mention rampant homelessness, but what about unaffordable housing, high utility costs, poor education system and rampant illegal immigration? Regarding the Chargers, that wasn't the cause of the local government. It was us the voters. The city wanted to give, not loan or float a bond for a free stadium for the Chargers that would cost us $500 million with no benefits to the tax payer. Issue was much more complicated but that is essentially it. How do I know, I attended the city counsel meetings with that shady Mayor Faulkner.
Sand Diego is NOT a great place to live because no one other than high income earners can afford to live here. As of 2019, the median income was $36,000. No one earning 36k can afford to buy a home or even barely afford rent. Look, all your pros are great...for people who are visiting and vacationing in San Diego. How does the average San Diegan afford any of these pros if they cant afford just to live? I guess, if you're living with your parents, have a ton of roommates or renting a room off of craigslist, you can sort of afford living in San Diego. Again, like your content but on this vlog I am going to have to disagree.
Would love to live in San Diego but need to win some lotto money first.
It is a beautiful city.
Haha #1 comment so far is SD is too expensive to live in thank god im from here and dont know any better 🤣
same 🫠
Sadly, the cons are starting to outweigh the pros. Back in the day, I would have NEVER said that.
You have the cutest teddy bear belly I ever seen. You are to cute 🥰
Can u do a La Jolla beer walk
Any advice
I can’t afford to live there because it’s California but I would love to live closer to SD like 2 hours way. For example, Yuma, Arizona. How’s the city looking? Safe? Affordable house for an individual? Etc?
