Hey Tapp! This is an amazing channel, guys, really helped me out learning basic parkour and functional bodyweight workouts, every video is packed with detail and visual demonstration and it makes it much easier to learn rather than text or images for example. I'm not too serious about parkour I only know the very basics but I am looking for functional, parkour like strength through calisthenics and I wanna say a massive thank you for being the no.1 channel on UA-cam for helping me with that

  •  7 років тому +2

Nice video! I'd also mention, that even though starting on soft surfaces is a good thing, it can make you lazy if it's too soft. You'll learn bad habits, and those are hard to get rid of

    Dear Tapp Brothers
    9:42 - 9:45
It took me 1 week to master the parkour roll (on the ground)
Like, everytime I do the roll, I don't feel any pain.
Is there anything more I should worry about rather than the pain?

Not a Tapp, but can still give advice:
1: It's rare to be injured by doing the PK roll, so it probably won't happen to do if you have good technique.
2: Practice on grass for a carpet! It's much softer surface than cement, and you can safely perfect your technique without any danger.(You can still hurt yourself however, so make sure that you know what you are doing)
3: The PK is designed to keep you safe, so if you do it right, you're as safe as can be!
4: Just do it! I know it sounds really cliche but if you make sure to do it in a safe environment, you'll be fine!
5: There is a GREAT video about overcoming fear done by Ronnie Salvis(Ronnie Street Stunts on youtube), if you go to his channel you should be able to find it. It is a good watch and got me to be able to do a backflip on my trampoline!
      Hope this helped!

I feel like this was made exactly for people like me struggling still after a year with all the things you mentioned. Everything you mentioned about figuring out technique that works is what I somehow discovered in the past month or so. But finally this confirms that hitting my butt is a good thing. I'd like to thank you guys for putting great tutorials up and you're the ones that helped me the most in learning movements and techniques!

this is how i get the PK roll down in 1 month on concrete,1-3 day look on all pk roll tutorials day 4-8 start learning it on mattres(believe me) 9-15 day learn it on grass slowly from crouching 16-20 day roll with momentum on grass(by running and rolling,no jumps)21-23 day start jumping from heights to grass and rolling start from low heights and slowly progress until you are comfortable with the roll on grass.24-28 days learn on concrete also starting from crouching and slowly progress to higher heights.and important tip, u need forward momentum if jumping from heights.29-30 days,do the PK roll on concrete again to make sure u can do it fluently and naturally if any accident happen.

TappBrothers I have a BIG problem i have crappy spine so I cant do a parkour roll i can only do side roll(from one shoulder blade to another ) or roll on one side of my back my spine is pumping up every time I arch my back but I dont have any issues with back paine . So should I master safety landing on Grandmaster level or you can make a video about pk roll for guys with weird back or video about how to train legs and joints to make basic landing safe from 10 ft .
    Hope to get answer fast.

My past years in Aikido practice should have prepped me for the Parcour roll. The forward roll fall was the most common form of ukemi for taking throws. That was many years ago and now I'm 60 but I might experiment anyway with these interesting body weight exercises( going slowly and cautiously at first).

I have a problem though. i can't tell if I am doing it right because i do it almost instinctively and i can only do it after i land from jumping. I am flexible enough for it and I am fairly strong. I also tend to have my shoulder hurt after I do a roll. Any tips?

Will I be able to move on faster with a good protein diet? Cause I've went on a high protein diet a couple months ago when I was doing a parkour workout, and my muscles never hurt and always felt great with the diet. But I've been doing parkour rolls for about 2 hours straight every night, and since I'm not on my diet anymore some of my joints hurt a bit during a roll, and my shoulder hurts from getting slammed continuously a few weeks ago when I didn't quite have the roll down.So just wondering, will my body get used to it and toughen up, or should I start a protein diet again to rebuild myself?
