I built that model of North Wilkesboro back in my senior year at college up at App State (2003). I did it as a stress reliever as I headed towards graduation. After it was finished I offered it up to several museums in the area and ultimately the NCARHOF were the first to say they would take it. I'm so glad that 20 years later it's still in great shape and being taken care of. And yeah, I had to recreate all of the era's logos (as well as the doors and windows) from scratch.
I was just here yesterday, walked through the gift shop a bit, then purchased museum admission and just as soon as I walked through the door, I see Bobby Allison and Don Miller hanging out!
The Tony Stewart car is indeed from 2006. His 2005 car had the words "Monte Carlo" and in black text, where the "SS" part would be added the following year. Definitely have to give this place a visit sometime!
I love this place, every time I’m in the area I stop by and see what’s new
Thank you for Presenting it £ric👍🏻
Dibby and Bobby Allison came by here early this year. Usually have driver appearances every couple months
I'm from Mooresville and grew up going here every year with my grandfather. Appreciate the love. This is an awesome place for anyone in Charlotte for a race/HOF.
Great episode Eric! You looked like you were geeking out with all of the old NASCAR cars, photos, die-cast's that were on display in the North Carolina Auto Hall of fame! Thanks for stopping by there & showing ALL of your viewers to that magnificent building & history
I spent 3 days in the Charlotte area back in fall of 2000, put over 700 miles on my rental car & went in & out of everything that was in the area back then. Still have actual photos
That 17 DW car is my favorite. It’s why I used #17 in anything I raced where it was available to use. When I was little, something about the color scheme and the chrome numbers just got me. I used to drive my gokart around the back yard pretending I was DW winning races. I stuck with DW through all the bad years too.
omg i love this museum so much i love the diecast and even the cars man o man i wish i can go back there thank you for visting there !
PA has something like this museum. In York Springs, we got the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing. It has NASCAR, Dirt Racing, and Drag Racing.
This museum, the Petty museum in Level Cross and the Winston Cup museum in Winston Salem are all pretty incredible venues all here in the great state of North Cackalacky! Glad you're here enjoying the Tarheel state!
This truly is a hidden gem
Love this place! I go two or three times a year
My mom worked for Alltel back in the 90s early 00s and she would help run the races in Rockingham as well. we live like 5 minutes from The Rock. During her time working the races at The Rock she got to hang out with Ryan Newman and a number of other drivers every time NASCAR was in Rockingham. It was cool seeing that Alltel Ryan Newman car in this video. It truly brought back memories of NASCAR in Rockingham and stuff.
What a beautiful place to add onto my N.C bucket list
You should head to the Henry ford museum, not much nascar but really could racing stuff and history of automotive things as well as some other history things. It’s cool, they also have racing simulators and a drag racing timer where they’d have the lights and when it goes green you press the button. It would make a good trip.
This is amazing I love these museums thank you so veryuch Eric for showing is these places I don't have nothing like this in my country (new zealand), I wish NASCAR would bring back the contingency sponsors behind the front wheels and on the sides of the front bumpers I miss them alot they looked awesome they made nascars look like proper race cars
When i was in college in Mooresville one of my part time jobs was dusting the cars off and everything in that museum really cool experience.
