This is an awesome tour, Mike Curb first got involved with racing in California with sprint car owner Jack Gardner with Brad Noffsinger as driver and won two championships, Mike was also the lieutenant governor of California, JC Agajanian, who is the father of Cary was the promoter of Ascot Park in Gardena California and had also been a Indy car owner and won the Indy 500 in 1952 with Troy Ruttman who was the youngest driver to win the 500. Glad they opened a museum to celebrate racing and his involvement in racing, he has a long history with motor sports and helped many young racers. Thanks for a great video.
JC Jr was also good friends with HB Halicki (original gone in 60 seconds). In fact the opening scenes were filmed at Ascot and JC Jr almost got hit by Halicki when the mustang failed to stop and hit the car JC Jr was standing behind. Jr played a plainclothes cop in the film. They left the mistake in the film. Some of the cars stolen in the film were owned by JC and JC Jr.
As an "older" race fan, it's nice to have you take us to these places where we can get some nice history lessons. Look forward to more of your content.
Cool to see he has one of the Jack Gardner owned CRA sprint cars that Brad Noffsinger drove to a championship in the 80’s at Ascot and other tracks. 👍🍺🏁
Wish my pops was still alive. He had some stories about Mike Curb and Curb records. He and his band was to sign with Curb records but they showed up a week early as they were given the wrong date to be to Nashville on purpose. Really soured em all with the whole record deal stuff. Record execs are something else.
Well, another museum to add to the visit list for this year. This past weekend I was at the Wood Brothers Museum in Stuart, VA, and watched Leonard Wood fire up a Ford (obviously) 390V8, topped with a tiny Holley carb replica he built and tuned. That big ole FE engine ran like a top with that super tiny carb- no more than 1/3 the size of a 750 Holley. Aside from seeing that, just being around such a legend as Leonard Wood and listening to him talk about engines and carbs was amazing. Now I have to see Mike Curb's place. Thanks for making me aware of it's existence!
Well damn, my wife was born and raised in Kannapolis right off of Dale Earnhardt Blvd so I've been up and down that road a thousand times and never knew Curb had his museum on that road. Definitely will be heading over there and checking it out.
Cool video! The Indycar collection, though small, is very interesting. The #2 Sneva car is from '85, and was the last Eagle to race at Indianapolis, though the car there is in road course trim. Tom had a good run before crashing out near the 3/4 mark. The Boat car is a 2001/2002 Dallara. The blue 98 is the very rare Ligier chassis that only raced once (Long Beach '84) in the hands of Kevin Cogan, completing only 3 laps and finishing last before the deal fell apart. The plum-colored is an '86 Eagle from early that year with Jan Lammers, before teething and money problems KO'd the effort.
Fantastic look back in the history of NASCAR. The newer generation of fans need to see your videos to understand how NASCAR was built and where it evolved from.
I really love the big cars. I can’t remember as a boy the transition from limited races that were on TV in the announcers, talking about the changes to the cars.
We need a NASCAR museum where they literally take the car off the track, wrecked or not, then stick it in a museum. You know could you imagine seeing some of the most popular wins, wrecks, etc in NASCAR history (not deaths) still with all original parts. I know it’s not practical but that would be awesome and I’d pay good money for a ticket to something like that. Even kids nowadays like my 2 year old watches NASCAR. First thing that pops up on UA-cam is nascars top 10 wrecks and wins. I wish my kids could see dales last dega winning car. I was there. It would be like a whole memory
Can't believe how young you are while getting all this cool access to history...! I think you've learned more than I've forgotten about Nascar history...! You're are definitely correct about 80s-90s being the best Era in Nascar...! Thanks, keep up y'alls awesomeness and go enjoy some nature today...!
Stopped by their (I think) original shop one time years ago and they had, just painted Earnhardts Championship Monte Carlo. No stickers no number, just blue and yellow. I still have the pic. Again, more awesome stuff from you guys! Keep it coming.
I grew up at Ascot park here in Gardena Ca “Los Angeles” and Mike Curb motorsports was a household name for as long as I can remember. 1970’s to present. Mike Curb CRA California Racing Association open wheel sprint car teams were always in the top three. Curb and Agajanian were teamed up with #98 Indy cars for over 3 decades with drivers from sprint cars. I would say Mike Curb was partial to open wheel sprint car drivers too. I would also say that Mike Curbs love for racing runs just about as deep as it could get. I recommend searching for old Ascot footage here on UA-cam to see just how influential Mike Curb and JC Agajanian to auto racing. I’d be hard pressed we will ever see a pair of men like Curb and Agajanian ever again. Btw,, the list of drivers that dominated open wheel sprint cars from the Ascot era is long and deserved recognition. The Jones, Andrettis, Foyt, Vogler, and dozens of other champion caliber drivers that raced Ascot parks 1/2 mile dirt oval, including the World of Outlaws throughout all those years. I’m going to go out on a limb and say this,,,,, if it wasn’t for the Agajanian’s Ascot park auto racing might not have ever known who Mike Curb motorsports is. Something to think about. I love this channel and hearing about the history of motorsports. Those were some great men with personalities unmatched today. Channels like this preserve it and keep it alive. 🙌🏻
Definitely was an interesting walk around of Curb's museum, which I definitely more drawn to the older cars, that actually looked like the street cars I was around in the late 70s early 80s. Although having been around racing my entire life, I definitely can appreciate the older cars from the 40s onward, as well as the cars in the 90s and possibly the early 2000s.
Digging up history must be so much fun for you because you are also a BIG fan of the sport. It is such a great look at what they were doing back in the day!
It’s always great to see the history like this and it allows us to plan our trip up north making notes on places where we are going to stop along the way! Thanks!!!!!
Excellent video. I remember back when the Busch East series ran V6 engines and Ron Bouchard built Dale Earnhardt a V6 car and kept it at his shop so Dale could run NHIS a few days before the Cup race.
Outstanding History Video Again! The #98 has been a Agajanian number for a long time, and always good looking cars no matter the series. The Brad Noffsinger non wing sprint car ran with CRA, the home track was Ascot in CA. that was ran by Agajanian. I knew from way back Mike Curb was involved in motorsports, I did not know there was a Curb museum till now, I would love to make it to the 704 area code and see just part of the places you have shown us! Thanks for all the video / edit work and tracking down the History.
Dang it! dang it! dang it! I was in Kannapolis two years ago and the vincity areas during the week, after the Charlotte's roval race was over. I went by the single A stadium, drove by the old house, went to see the statue in the downtown area and I let this place get under my radar! Guess now I have two reasons to come back. 1) Get Richard Childress's autograph somehow and 2) check this place out! Hell, who am I kidding, I just want to go back period...
You should listen to Becoming Earnhardt, Dale Jr’s podcast all about Dale Sr’s career. The first 8 episodes are all about the 1979 rookie of the year season. 1980 is next and episodes will probably be released sometime next Summer. I am sure you will learn everything you need to know about that #2 car that won the 1980 championship.
The number 2 dale car that they didn't want,I've seen pictures of that same car in a junkyard in the 80s,I was going to ask this question before I seen the picture on the wall, great video, keep them coming.
When I saw the familiar to me Agajanian name as a sponsor it brought back some early memories of my interest in Indy cars like the big Offenhauser powered roadsters that dominated the sport back then. Some of the first model cars I built were of that era. Years later I got to tour the Indy museum several times and see the actual cars. Those guys needed a wheelbarrow to load their balls in! Of course Super Tex aka A J Foyt has wone more than anyone.
Curb Records has a very checked past but at least some of those profits got put into racing. Thanks for another gem of a video production! The person you interviewed was very good.
Excellent video! Brings back some memories for sure! Tom Sneva was one of my favorite drivers. Great to share the history of Curb racing! Keep up the great work!
I love you’re commitment to the old school racing. I was super anxious to watch this video hoping it would verify something I’m passionate about, the 1984 STP Pontiac. I’m a big Petty fan and the 1984 Pontiac is my favorite. I love the Chargers, Wing car, but there was just something special about the ‘84 Pontiac with the chrome wheels, chrome bumpers, etc.. Anyway, the 200 win car is not in doubt. It belongs to the Smithsonian and it’s pedigree is confirmed. Now, the 199 car. It’s with a great deal of confidence I do believe this is the 199 win car at the Curb Museum. It just makes sense that Curb would want to have this car in his collection, especially since he owned it in 1984. I don’t think he’d sell it back to Petty museum (all things considered). Now here’s where I get excited. I’ve been to the Petty Museum many times. I know people there. I was privileged to see the Smithsonian car while it was loaned to the Petty Museum and have several detail pictures of it. Anyway, it was decided it would be a fitting event for Richard to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the 200 win by driving a REPLICA of the 200 win car . I have it from top authority’s the car you see when you walk in Petty Museum is the replica car in question. I was told the car (at least the chassis) was collected from a downtown Charlotte restaurant and subsequently restored to a close replica of the 200 win car and indeed the car Richard took parade laps in before the anniversary Firecracker 400. In fact, I have photos of Greg shaking the car down at Rockingham prior to taking it to Daytona. Here’s where things get convoluted. I have heard Richard more than once refer to this museum car as the 199 win car which I 100% believe is wrong (confirmed by Larry and Greg). I was anxious to watch this video because I was awaiting confirmation and close up video of the 199 car, which again, I believe to be 100% the authentic car. YET, what throws me is the claim THIS is the car used for the parade laps at Daytona for the 25th Anniversary. 100%, that is not true. Is it possible someone else took this car to drive at another time or event?Maybe, but highly unlikely. It wouldn’t make sense someone else but Petty drive the car. But this I say with 100% certainty, if you want to see the replica car Richard drove before the 25th Anniversary, go to the Petty Museum. If you want to see the authentic 199 win car, go to Curb Museum. I guess I’d just like for everyone to get the stories correct or offer information to help clarify why different claims are being made about different cars.
Wouldn't it make more sense that there is no replica car and the one loaned to the Petty museum is the 200th from the Smithsonian and the 199 win car at THIS Museum which is still a museum car so Richard probably taking about this one is the 199 win car and the one he drove at Daytona not a total nother replica car. Then the stories all line up.
That's CURB is a dynasty! Thanks for the tour and another great video! I am getting more and more interested in the history of Sauter family racing...name keeps popping up.
Another great video, I can't believe it's free to tour, you never see that these days with anything. Definitely a place I want to visit among others. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Awesome video, all of your video's about the history of Nascar are awesome. Went to my first race at the old Nashville fairgrounds in 1967 still going to race's today at 65yrs young. Thank you for your video's.
Hey hey!!! I'm just here right now because you asked us to comment on an older video in the Ron Hornaday video. And why not? Both that clip and this one were two that I really really really appreciated!
Your content is a gold mine man! I'm in the area, I need to make a day to go visit a lot of these museums. I had no idea that some of these cars and museums even existed in the area
Another great video, this museum is on my bucket list this year to visit! I have been wanting to see Dale sr. #2 winning championship car for a long time. Thanks for giving a heads up on what to look forward to seeing!!
While I never got into Nascar racing, I love how you present your love of it. Do any of these veteran race guys get amazed by how well you know the history of these cars and drivers?
Thank you Ed. Yes some veteran drivers as well as crew members have voiced exactly that before... They know it's genuine and that is why they are willing to help us with things.
Q: Who does the last 40+ years of NASCAR/Indy Racing, the music recording industry, and the California State Capitol have in common? A: Former California Lt. Governor Mike Curb. Another great video highlighting more of the history behind some the biggest names in stock car racing. Awesome work, man!!
You also forgot Hollywood. JC (who partly owned the race team with curb) also was good friends with HB Halicki (gone in 60 seconds). JC Jr makes a cameo in the film. An early scene in the film is at Ascot, which JC owned. Some of the cars stolen in the film were owned by JC and family.
Curb is still involved in IndyCar racing. They were involved with the cars that won the 500 with Dan Wheldon in 2011 and Alexander Rossi in 2016, and sat on the pole with Marco Andretti in 2020. And Cary Agajanian's father, J.C., was where the #98 came from. Long before Mike Curb got involved, J.C. won the Indy 500 as a car owner with Troy Ruttman in 1952 and Parnelli Jones in '63.
Funny story, just down the road from this is the AK Performance race shop. They run U.S legends cars and late models and are the only race shop that operates out of Kanapolis NC anymore.
They’ve appeared on a few Thorsport trucks, with Matt Crafton, Johnny Sauter, Grant Enfinger, and I think Hailie Deegan too. (Curb records appears on the B-post of the trucks)
I only know bc of the World of Outlaw series. And F**k C*rb records. They held Hank Williams III hostage for 10 years then released his music after his contract was up.
When I was young I met Brett Bodine at the concord speedway , was a super nice guy still have a few things he gave me to this day not sure of the year but had to of been in the early 90s
Kerry, this was fantastic. I have we 2 of Martha's cook books. Kelley's assistant was going to get them autographed for me, but I let time run out. Kerry, you and your wife are such good people. So excited to see future videos. Kerry, God's blessings to you and all your family. 🙏 ❤️ 🙏. S
Well sumbitch! In March I was in Kannapolis for a meeting and ate dinner at the Chop House. If I had known this was there and free I would have made a visit. Badass snow storm getting out and heading back to the mountains of West Virginia then. Great tour as usual. Thanks for the time it takes to do these videos.
Great stuff man. Love seeing history like this. I've heard of Curb Records as a music head, but hearing his involvement in racing is really interesting.
Great job man . Have ran across a lot of folks that are into racing history and pointed them to your channel. Nobody else is doing this. Thanks to who ever hooked you up, cause the are helping keep us old school racers interested.
Enjoy your content! Get into Indy cars, you will be blown away! The wider your scope, the more viewers you will attract. Best of luck, and keep doing what your doing!
Love it, hope to make it by there in May! Fun fact: I worked for Bestop in the 90s, we were the OE supplier for the 1st gen Viper tops. I visited the Conner Ave Assembly plant several times when those were being built.
@@CamaroAmx yup, spent a lot of time at the Toledo Jeep plant, too! Another fun fact: my wife and I met at Bestop, we both worked there. Married 24 years!

thank you for the background info Greg!
JC Agajanian also owned the winning 1963 Indy 500 winner driven by Parnelli Jones.

Cool to see he has one of the Jack Gardner owned CRA sprint cars that Brad Noffsinger drove to a championship in the 80’s at Ascot and other tracks. 👍🍺🏁
Miss those old race cars and when racing was more fun. I liked it when they painted the car instead of the wrap. Thanks for sharing!!
I agree paint is so much better!

That place is definitely on my bucket list the next time I go to the Charlotte area.
You should!
Wow another hidden gem to explore ,thanks guys .
Curb Motorsports From The 80s NASCAR Winston Cup Series Team Thanks For Uploading
Thanks for being here Jeffrey!
Your content is a gold mine man! I'm in the area, I need to make a day to go visit a lot of these museums. I had no idea that some of these cars and museums even existed in the area
Thanks man you definitely do
that is a good place to see been there about 11 years ago
This is awesome. I love the history of the sport so much more than the current version. Thank you for this great find.
Thanks man
I definitely need to take a trip to NC sometime, going through all these great racing museums would be a dream vacation
You should!
Another great video, this museum is on my bucket list this year to visit! I have been wanting to see Dale sr. #2 winning championship car for a long time. Thanks for giving a heads up on what to look forward to seeing!!
Thanks Paul!!
Love these videos! A big thanks to you and your Lady for all this. 👍🏼
Thanks Adam!
Cool video, I really hadn't thought about Curb in along time, brought back memories.
❤ It keep being awesome
Another great video. Thank you.
Our pleasure!
While I never got into Nascar racing, I love how you present your love of it. Do any of these veteran race guys get amazed by how well you know the history of these cars and drivers?
Mark Martin/Rusty Wallace/Kenny Wallace
Thank you Ed. Yes some veteran drivers as well as crew members have voiced exactly that before... They know it's genuine and that is why they are willing to help us with things.
I'm waiting for the day when hes at the table with Jr and Mike on the Download because of
his love of the history of the sport!.......
Thanks man!! Crazy life Mike has lived. I would love to meet him someday.
Watch your content from Christchurch NewZealand my kids and I love watching your content! Keep it up!
Thanks Ricky!
Very cool tour. Thanks alot
Glad you enjoyed it Dennis!
That was cool love the ole cars and and the cat eye race truck is also my favorite
Peak truck series era right there
I still daily my 05
A King Richard car right next to an Earnhardt championship car. It can't get much cooler than that.
Funny story, just down the road from this is the AK Performance race shop. They run U.S legends cars and late models and are the only race shop that operates out of Kanapolis NC anymore.
Stewart Haas has a Kannapolis address actually
As usual...awesome work! Thank you!
I love going here every time we go to Charlotte the museum is always the first stop then on to Jr. Motorsports
I cant believe that I could be the only one that has never heard of or noticed Curb Motorsports
You’ve definitely seen it before somewhere but maybe not noticed
to be honest, neither did I
They’ve appeared on a few Thorsport trucks, with Matt Crafton, Johnny Sauter, Grant Enfinger, and I think Hailie Deegan too. (Curb records appears on the B-post of the trucks)
Everywhere in the open wheel dirt series.
I only know bc of the World of Outlaw series. And F**k C*rb records. They held Hank Williams III hostage for 10 years then released his music after his contract was up.
Billy Boat manufactures some of the best performance exhaust systems for daily drivers. Had them on a few tahoes.
Great video 🎉
Thanks Richard!
I automatically thumbs up any video you put out. Everything you put out, is well done, and right up my alley.
Keep it up you two!
Awesome! Thank you!

18:57 i knew i recognized that truck mose! I been to ThorSport a bunch of times
Thank you Rick! Next time lol
Amazing video as always. Thanks for preserving racing history Mitchell and Logan! ❤🏁 God bless y'all
Wow, I am amazed they have the Ligier LC02 INDYCAR still exists and is at that museum. That car only ran one race ever at Long Beach in 84.
Really? Learn something new every day
That’s a treasure trove right there. Awesome stuff Mitchell
Great stuff man. Love seeing history like this. I've heard of Curb Records as a music head, but hearing his involvement in racing is really interesting.
Awesome! We’re glad to bridge the worlds for you lol
Great job man . Have ran across a lot of folks that are into racing history and pointed them to your channel. Nobody else is doing this. Thanks to who ever hooked you up, cause the are helping keep us old school racers interested.
Thanks man! Kerry Earnhardt actually introduced us to Gene here
I went though the Musume in Darmington the week Bill won the million. Lots of David Persons and Carl Y cars in there
Enjoy your content! Get into Indy cars, you will be blown away! The wider your scope, the more viewers you will attract. Best of luck, and keep doing what your doing!
Better late than never, great video guys. Look forward to going to the museum in the near future. You guys are doing a great job, keep it up!
Thanks so much!
Thank you!
I’ve commented before and will again, Great content, love your channel !

Jimmie Johnson ran with Herzog in ASA too. He didn’t switch to them just switched series.
Tabaco products, "Winston Cup" Too Funny Hi Mitch and Logan! Good video thank you for sharing
What do you think of when you hear Mike Curb?
Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt
Besides NASCAR, Curb Records
Earnhardt's championship. Richard Petty's last win.
Motorsports fan
Tradition
Great museum! Really enjoyable to see.
Glad you enjoyed it Homer!
Love it, hope to make it by there in May! Fun fact: I worked for Bestop in the 90s, we were the OE supplier for the 1st gen Viper tops. I visited the Conner Ave Assembly plant several times when those were being built.
Best top is also the OE supplier for Jeep soft tips.
thats awesome lol
@@CamaroAmx yup, spent a lot of time at the Toledo Jeep plant, too! Another fun fact: my wife and I met at Bestop, we both worked there. Married 24 years!
I love these type of videos. Keeping the history alive
