Thanks for the presentation Roy, I want to take a direct output from my FP-90 to my camera inorder to get the best possible sound quality during video recording of my play. How do I do that. In other words how do I connect my camera to my FP-90 to get the best quality sound ?

Thank you, very nice. But what all those things are/do? What is "Key Off Ressonance", what is "Lid", whatg exactly does "Key touch" does/means? Anyway, great work.

Hey Roy, do you feel like these settings made the mid range sound better to you than they did out of the box in your previous video? I’m an intermediate player looking for a high quality digital piano to upgrade to and have my eyes on this one. I play mostly Beatles-like songs so I’d love to hear your opinion on this piano as a whole.
Thanks and keep up all the great playing!

How do I turn off the speakers thereby using the keyboard as a Midi controller?

Can you set the FP-90 to always start with a specific instrument (such as #4 Concert Mellow)? If so, how?

Does this configuration work for the fp60x?

Thanks for posting your personal 'acoustic' settings. I have just set up my new FP90 to match and it is has made an appreciable difference even to a novice such as me. This will give me a baseline to play from and adjust as I get more experienced with my playing. Flying the flag for the Roland FP90.

    Hey Roy,
Thanks For Roland FP-90 Settings. It really helped. I have another question. I wish to record my piano performance on iPhone or a device, with my audio coming directly from my FP-90. Meaning while recording the video, instead of using the iPhone mic, prefer to plug it to my FP-90 to avoid background noices etc. Hope you can help me to understand the best way to do this.
    Allen

Thank you very much for watching and checking out my channel. You can record your performance in audio or midi format by plugging a USB flash drive into the USB memory port. Alternatively you can record directly to an Audio sequencing program on a laptop with an A-Male to B-male USB cable.

    Hey Roy Tan,
thanks a lot for sharing! Those settings arrived just in time for me, for i was wondering what other fellow owners use! Tried them out and for now im very happy with it! :)
Do you use similar settings for the other pianos (especially the mellow piano?) Do you tend to "mellow" or "brighten" the sound character of the individual tones or did you leave them as they are?
Again thanks for your great videos, u got a subscriber ;-) greetings!

    • @RoyTanMusic
      @RoyTanMusic  6 років тому +2

+TheMarrdukk Thanks for watching and for the sub. I haven't done extensive tweaking for the "mellow piano" as of now. I love the tone as it is for certain applications but it doesn't seem to have as much of a dynamic range to use as a "default" piano.
As far as individual note editing, I went through the keyboard and ONLY tweaked things if they stuck out to me (some of the high Gs for instance). I start with adjusting the volumes first, as that produces the mildest changes. Only if that doesn't produce sufficient results, will I try the tuning or character.
Also I tend to generally mellow out tones more. The goal is to create an even (to your ears) sound and feel across the keyboard.
I found that on occasion lowering the tune a fraction can often mask the harshness in the tone.
      Hope this helps.
      Roy

    Thanx for the update,
Would you say you play more thru the speakers than thru the headphones ?,
considering the 3d stereo optimization feature for headphone listening.

I actually prefer to play with the speakers and do so most of the time. I find the sound nicely balanced for my space and sounds more authentic with these particular settings.

What frequencies are your EQ settings set at? I modified mine but I think I need to change it. Oops!

Hi Roy....I too love your video and the settings that you use. I too am curious what your EQ settings (FUNCTION # 7/37) that you use or whether you use the factory default settings.

Thank you very much, Sir, for your customized settings which I programmed into my FP-90 upon receiving it yesterday and I think it sounds just amazing!
You are not only an amazing pianist and musician but very kind to do this video as many of us, like me, are beginners and wouldn’t even know where to begin w the daunting amount of settings.
You took all of the hard work out of it, Thank You, Sir!

I have the Roland dp-10 for my FP-90 keyboard. It works great except for one issue: when I release the sustain pedal the notes immediately cut off without ringing out. When I slowly release the pedal, same thing, it just get to a certain point and cuts off. Is there anyway to fix this? I’ve messed around with the “continuous” and “switch” setting on the pedal to no avail. Please help

    Hey Roy,
initially when I played this piano in the shop, I dismissed it... having watched your videos, I’ve tried again with a more thorough effort and become slightly obsessed with the potential of this piano, especially when paired with Bluetooth midi and Cubasis/iOS + piano designer.
I was looking at an FA-08, but the feel is just not there on the piano.
Having your time again in the similar price range, are there any other (preferably modelled pianos) that you would consider? Having said this, I’m very sold on the FA-08, ready to order in just two (very long) weeks 😊
Keep up the videos, I’ve enjoyed your content.
    Thanks,
    Alex.

Hi Alex. Thanks for checking out the video. Yeah Roland does make good digital instruments. I haven’t had much time with an FA-08 yet but will check one out when the opportunity presents. It has a slightly different focus to FP-90.
I’m still enjoying my keyboard though and feel it still holds up well today as an overall package.
      Enjoy your new toy.
      Roy

Thanks for that video. But it is not working for me. I am really annoyed by this piano after months now, because actually I have to set everything again from start. Nothing can be saved.
That is sooooo ridiculous. And on gigs I had the issue that the left line has quite some white noise. Thats what the audio guys told me. no value for the money...

If you set the ambience to a different value and then save the settings, it will indeed save for the next time you turn on the piano. I am going to try your settings. Thanks!!
