The majority of people are low information voters who do not do deep dives into the issues, policies of the candidate or how things really work. There are small often more liberal or left leaning commentators who are complete political junkies that dig that deep into any of it. So most voters are pretty much voting on superficial things like can they view have a beer with the candidate which is why many voted for the last President Bush or slogan that they heard a thousand times.

Everyone is against the AR-style rifles. Please remember the killer at Virginia Tech in April of 2007 killed 32 and wounded 17 with 1 Glock 9mm, and 1 small caliber (.22) pistol. For each pistol he had several pre-loaded clips of ammo. So it doesn't matter what the gun is, if someone is sick enough that they want to take lives, they will. Also at Virginia Tech, 2 years after the shooting (2009,) a student was decapitated by another student. That gruesome act barely caused a blip on our radar in this country because both students were Chinese grad students. That murder happened in one of the dining halls on campus. Why do I remember these acts? Because I had a daughter on campus during both events.

The "bad economy"? You should re-examine all these issues in an objective manner and you will likely come up with a very different perspective. Call them candidate #1 vs #2 , look at policy and policy proposals and if you're honest with yourself, you'll choose the one who's better positioned, TODAY, on the majority of those issues- if not all you mentioned.

And the economy isn't bad, Biden created 17 million jobs, which is a record. And crime was up under Trump and is down under Biden.
