I love this one , had the sunster for 4 years now and its super quiet and awesome for Hot 🔥 tenting here in Pennsylvania me absolutely haven't had any issues with it. Highly recommend this one. I sit mine on a tiny folding metal table
I got one of these yesterday. I'm impressed. Seems to put out more heat than my RV's propane 38kbtu furnace. Efficiency seems to be better also. I'll have to do a cost benefit analysis. I also got the 4" hose per your suggestion and a stainless 3"id to 4"od adapter. (Amazon description: Exhaust Pipe Adapter Connector Reducer, 3" ID - 4" OD). I ran the unit on high for about 15minutes. The heat exch go to 450F, didn't melt the hose. I am debating whether I should get a dryer vent or elbow to put in the RV window facing in. I'd like to go to RMNP but it is either too touristy or really cold. I used to go up to Estes and RMNP 30 to 50 years ago when there wasn't gridlock. Now I hang at Blue Mesa and McPhee.
I would have liked to see inside if they did anything different or if it’s just the pump improvement. Good stuff, too bad I bought a vevor last week lol
Im gonna order this very soon. Now i need to find used a truck cap (at least for now ) & do some winter camping & snowshoeing. I was leaning toward other brands , but the reduced noise sold me. & your discount code did work thank you!
8am I have the H Calory version in my Cargo trailer / bug out hunting camp. It works well but the pump is loud I used ear plugs to sleep. My poor dog had to listen all night.
Good review. In regards to the exhaust, I would get it off the ground a little and sit it on a fire resistant mat. They come in various sizes and very inexpensive.
I've been testing this heater out with the 4" x 8" hose and there is a big heat loss from the hose so I purchased a 6" hose to put over the 4" hose as added insulation so most of the heat gets to the end. Hopefully, the 6" hose will fit over the 4" hose. Otherwise, I'll have to go to an 8" insulating/insulated hose. I'm only heating an area of about 80' squared by 7' but I hate heating the outdoors with the loss from the hose.
We have been using a 4" insulated hose and I was able to cut it down to about 4'. This made a significant difference from running it longer as, obviously, the shorter the hose, the less heat loss.
@@TrailTraveler Unfortunately, I need almost the whole 8' to reach the RV window with the heater sitting on the ground on 2x6s. My solution of a 6" hose over the 4" hose should help a lot. Last night, using just the 4" hose, running the heater on level 1 with an outside temp of 38F, it kept the RV at 56F(pretty good). However, I'd like a little better efficiency. If it works too well, I can always open a window. I'll let you know.
One thing I did that helped before I had a way to get the heater closer was to wrap the hose with a moving blanket to minimize heat loss. Maybe something like this would help you reduce the hose length: amzn.to/3VYajrk
@@TrailTraveler The 6" hose was only $13 and will be easier to travel with and seemed to be the neatest option. Six feet of the hose is vertical so wrapping it would be hard to do. There is duct insulation that would work similar but I don't like working with fiber glass.
@TrailTraveler So the LFBros is quieter? Wonder if there is a difference between the N2 vs N2 pro. Im pretty sure the pro has more altitude adjustments . Highest road withing several hrs of me is 3000ft.
@@ctclimberguy34 The N2T doesn't have automatic altitude adjust right? I think only the N2 Pro does. This feature is important to us because we live at 5,000' and we can be camping anywhere from sea level to 13,000' so "plateau mode" is a must have feature.
Hello. Enjoyed your video and I am interested in this unit. I watched your video on the Winnpro and you are correct about it. I bought one based on another video that claimed it was quiet. It was loud. This one you have seems to be quiet but I have a question. With you being a person that modifies your own heaters to make them as quiet as possible weren’t you curious to see how they made this one so quiet right out of the box? I expected you to at least inspect the interior to see what type of pump they used or if they insulated it somehow. Thank you for the review and have a great day.
@@TrailTraveler I am only asking because I got suckered on the Winnpro from another channel. I like taking things apart and I think you do too based on your ability to modify your units to make them better and quieter. Plus I believe you know what to look for and if this unit is that quiet for that price I would be finding out exactly what pump they are using. I believe that the other channel I watched to buy the winnpro probably received a modified unit from the factory that was quiet but the one sold to the general public was not quiet at all and probably used sub standard parts. I am trying to find the quietest heater I can buy. I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Have a great day.
Would you be able to do a short video or provide a better explanation on how the operation of it works? I have the exact same heater and I’m having a hard time figuring out basically how to make it run correctly. When I use the app it never really goes below level four on the fan. I’d like to be able to keep it on speed one or two and have my temperature set so I’m not getting roasted.
Glad to see you accepted their offer to review, that being said it appears this unit is riveted together as well, like the Hcalory this will still prevent in the field service of the fuel pump. Well, you are much happier with the acoustics of this unit (and it's less expensive than the Hcalory unit) you didn't mention if the unit has a fuel filter which was one of your major cons on the SS2. Does the unit have a fuel filter? It also looks like the air inlet for the burner is a slightly different design though located in the same location as the SS2. The muffler looks a little more premium, does it perform better or the same as the SS2? I was just curious how many of the prior cons were resolved in this unit? Clearly the outlet pipe is still an issue. Thank you for the review.
Without popping off the rivets, I can't tell if there is a filter underneath everything. The muffler is pretty much the same. The main improvement is the fuel pump noise. The air filter does seem to be a better design, but I don't think it has any major benefit. We have some other ones we are testing now that are pretty interesting and I'm looking forward to using one of them for about a week starting this weekend.
I've got this heater, there is no fuel filter which to me is no problem because the fuel is filtered when I put it in the jerry can from source,, and again through the funnel to the heater. I replaced the rivets with 3M Rivnuts to make maintenance access easy, and replaced the supplied green fuel feed with hard plastic white one.
Hi in this video you mentioned there is no benefits to recirculating the air from the tent back to the air intake. How is there no benefit? Does it not save on fuel consumption? Curious if we should all ditch the extra duct to recirculate the warm air. Thanks
We had very similar conditions two nights in a row. One day we recirculated and the next we didn’t. There was no noticeable difference in temperature, battery usage, or fuel usage. This was at around 26F. I’ve talked to some other users that say the same thing. Maybe, under some conditions it could have a greater effect such as colder temperatures. I plan on doing some testing here when it gets colder.
Ok that’s interesting and would love to see more testing from you on this. I also own the HCalory SS2 and wonder if this applies to that heater regarding recirculating air or just this Sunster heater?
