    This is an awesome set up. I've mentioned before on the few times I've watched your videos, that when I was in the U.S. Air Force way back in the late 1970s, that I was an Analog Flight Simulator Repair Technician. Tubes and servos, and NOTHING like what you have here. The Air Force would have, back then, looked at what you were doing as some sort of black magic! LOL
    One day, when I get some money, and a better place to live, I want to do basically what you've done here, except I want to do with for General Aviation, something like a Piper Malibu. With MSFS 2020, and G1000 displays and other flight sim stuff out today, I could probably make a realistic Piper Malibu cockpit. I don't know if it would be nearly as accurate as what you've done here, but it might be fun.
    I appreciate the work you've put into this, you've done such an amazing job, and I wonder if there are any Hog pilots who watch this.

    So no word on solutions for the head mounted cueing system? I feel like ED should add some code to allow a trackIR headset to work as the head mount director to get your rig to 100% functionality.
    Your work HAS to be a feather in their cap. The ability to make so awesome a simpit based around their game! Adding some functions for builds like yours just seems like something they missed along the way.
    As always, your rig is AMAZING!!! Cudos for the incredible job you've done. My question is, when does work on the rest of the plane begin?

    • @thewarthogproject
      @thewarthogproject  3 роки тому +1

      As I'm using roof mounted projectors I can have anything covering the top as it would block them. It could be done, but only with a total redesign and not in a room as small as mine. Maybe one day if I move house...

    You really have a great deal of knowledge on making sims. Where did you learn how to do this, are you an engineer or work in the sim industry?
    I’ve been looking at trying to build a cockpit that can used for multiple aircraft. My initial thoughts are building a all touch screen cockpit including the side panels. This way I could graphically overlay everything from a P-51 to a F-35.
    Nothing beats the true full sim with switches, buttons etc….. but It would be nice to be able to switch between platforms.

      I just enjoy building things I guess. I take long breaks when I need to as well. If I had more room in my house, I'd have multiple cockpits. I'd love to do a larger screen and a dual seat tomcat. Maybe one day...

  • @BSO_Actual
    @BSO_Actual 3 роки тому

    Can you implement the HMCS?

    • @thewarthogproject
      @thewarthogproject  3 роки тому

      Unfortunately not. ED has implemented that as a overlay over the main viewport, not a viewport itself. I could use it if i went back to use trackir, but I figured that sort of defeats the purpose of having such a huge screen. I play with it in VR sometimes though.

  • @mozkitolife5437

      He does both. I think he had a video talking about the differences.

    • @thewarthogproject
      @thewarthogproject  3 роки тому +2

      It's a complicated answer, but they each have pros and cons and I enjoy them both. If you just want to fly DCS, I'd go VR any day. But if you enjoy designing and making stuff in your shed, I'd build a cockpit. That's my actual hobby...
