The Marvel and Star Wars bit made me giggle out loud when I watched this.. Showed my daughter a few clips, she recognized all the gamers and went to her room to watch it all.
Awww ☺️ I know a lot of those parts were lost on me, but some reactions that I’ve watched since recognized all the gamers and they got really excited. This movie was a love letter to gamers

This movie was a lot better than what I was expecting. I especially love the cameo at the end.
I'm a Network engineer and yes, comms and server rooms DO actually look like that but are usually more well lit.
I was actually called to a site where a guy had gone berserk with an axe but tbh all the damage was cosmetic. He'd have done FAR more damage with a pair of scissors by cutting the cables both fibre and copper. It would have taken WEEKS if not months to repair that kind of attack. Instead, we just didn't bother touching anything.
This movie was made in the middle of the FOX buy of Disney. So it started as a FOX production and ended as a Disney production. As soon as FOX got bought by Disney, Ryan himself wanted to add a SH*TTON of Disney references, which they did at the end.
Possibly my favourite standalone movie of the last few years. Brilliant concept and writing, amazing cast, and this moment made me literally cheer out loud: 33:33

This is not the best movie in the past few years, but it's definitely the most FUN movie in the past few years.
I love Jodie Comer so much that I watch everything that she is in it. She's an icon being Villanelle 💅
And she sings the cover of Sweet Fantasy when Guy is running down the collapsing bridge

I liked this one so much better than "Ready Player One"! And I didn't see it any other comment, but in the end, when they kiss, Keys is in a blue shirt, being the real-life "blue shirt guy". I really liked how the NPC characters names are actually generic: Guy, Buddy and Dude
I'd watch Jodie Comer read the service agreement for MS Word. She is brilliant and talented. And beautiful. And 100x more attractive than a person should be.
Fun fact, Jody Comer is actually the one singing 'Fantasy' at the end when guy finds the island. That's her voice singing.
Server rooms are like that. Except better lighting, and too loud to hear yourself say Kickin ass, TBD, or even third thing here. Ryan with the shield and the lightsaber was a great moment. As was the Chris Evans cameo. 👍

Absolutely love this movie... and loved your reaction... You knowing who Taika and Jodie were made my day (most of the others only recognised the 'stars'... Oh and a lot of the video streamers in the movie were actual game streamers on Twitch and UA-cam... and the interviewer was Terri Schwartz from IGN... awful lot of homage to gaming in this one...
Loved it, Ryan does such a great job as always. By the way, I think Annabelle Creation and Annabelle Comes Home will definitely get you to love dolls, because they're a real step above Annabelle. I might be sarcastic about the loving dolls part tho ;)

I love this reaction, I'm so glad you reached to this one! I can't wait to see your reaction to "The Adam Project" I noticed a little moisture in your eyes at the end haha. Listen I'm a 47 year old guy and I won't lie, I cried at the end when she realized that Guy was a love letter to her from Keys.
it's a really fun movie! And yes servers do look like that. Especially large server farms have to be very neat and tidy with thousands of cables and lots of status LEDs. They're usually pretty loud though.
Other than that it's extremely inaccurate about how games and servers work but well at least it's fun and it does a decent job in portraying how regular people perceive games. Disney also really likes to brag with their licenses i guess
In Keye's apartment he has an Intellevision video game system which came out in the early 1980s and was better graphically than the competing Atari system, and was one of the first systems to have voice acting rather than the regular beeps and boops

So fun fact, didn't read it in the few comments I read, but, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is the avatar for the Bank Robber. Hugh Jackman is the avatar of the alley guy in the beginning that she kills for asking questions, and Tina Fey is the vacuum mom LMFAO Great Reaction!

Delightful reaction to a delightful film. Glad I'm not the only one that teared up that Guy gave her the push to see what she had in the real world, it was a beautifully touching ending.

I literally just watched it like 24hrs ago I honestly thought I wouldnt like it because Im not a fan of some of the actors but its phenomenal.

@@micahhill7503 I didnt expect it to have the heart it did, I legit had tears a few time. Have you seen 6 underground? Its also a netflix Ryan Reynolds movie directed by Michael Bay. I watched it years ago when it came out and saw it on my watch list this morning so decided to put it on because I needed a few hours to kill and man its a pretty good movie. Not as good as these 2 but like them VERY surprisingly funny/hits good emotional beats. If you like Michael bay stuff from the 90s or the first transformers I think you'd enjoy the movie.

@@micahhill7503 Nice!! Love suggesting movies to people that might have somehow slipped passed them. Let me know what you think for sure. The opening action sequence will definitely set a tone and kinda let you know going in if it's something you will or wont like I was hooked after it and excited to see if that's the start how can it get crazier. Last suggestion I promise haha but seeing as we are talking about Ryan Reynolds movie's if you're a fan of his there's a movie called Chaos Theory he did in the mid/late 00s. It was really the first more serious/drama movie I ever saw him in and he/the movie imo was fantastic. It was more of an indie movie and everyone has pretty superb performances. Its 100% my favorite non comedy Reynolds movie. Not sure if or where its streaming though. Id suggest at least watching the trailer to see if it's a movie you might be interested in!!
Edit-I went back to try and refresh my memory on chaos theory and while yes its a more serious movie for sure there is more comedy then I remember but I still completely stand by what I said haha.

38:26 I Love you saw that Shawn Levy from Stranger Things was also associated with Free Guy! Plus some of the actors were in it too, Keith the guy who runs the arcade, portrayed by Matty Cardarople that you mentioned and Joe Keery who plays Steve Harrington also played Walter "Keys" McKey !
I hadn't even noticed it, when he asks coffee it was the same as hers. You noticed instantly, nice perception.
I only made the connection at the end of the movie, when she realizes it he was programmed by her friend.
Come on, you have to see Deadpool, not even because is Marvel related now, simply because is a great movie, actually Deadpool 2 is awesome as well.

I like to see which reactors catch the Hugh Jackman cameo and the Dwayne Johnson cameo.
Jackman's the player that Molotov Girl kills in the alley.
Dwayne is the bank robber that Guy gets his first pair of sunglasses from after killing the player.
I caught it while editing. I think in the moment I wasn’t looking for voice cameos, but now when I watch stuff I think I’ll home in on voices more. Im normally really good at catching that stuff
Love this movie, I love Ryan Reynolds and Jodie Comer from Killing Eve, and I love them using Mariah Carey’s song, that was a jam when I was in 6th grade
Yes, (the bigger, more expensive, better maintained) server rooms do actually look like that.
Except they don't sound like that. They sound like thousands of ACs. Server room of that size would be so loud that it would be hard to hear a person standing next to you if they were shouting at full volume.
Have you ever seen the Taika Waititi movie What We Do in the Shadows? It was the first movie I ever saw him in and suffice it to say I was hooked. He's so funny, as is everyone else in the movie. It was a bit of a cult classic, but it eventually got big enough to spark a TV spinoff. If you haven't seen it, I'd highly recommend it.
This might very well be my favourite movie this year, and like damn, there are a LOT of good movies out this year! But I think I've rewatched it the most so far.
Without this cast, this movie wouldn't have been as good.

This was a fun movie. My wife who isn't a gamer wasn't that into it, but I loved it. Finally got to see it and can now take this video off my future review list lol

Deadpool 2 has 2 versions. They both até cool.
Animated series that seem light and silly but end up emotional and awesome:
Steven Universe, She Ra, The Owl House
Other good animated shows would be Avatar the last airbender. Also One Piece. One Piece is heartbreaking. It has everything on the "hey that is f-ed up" list: every type of slavery, corrupt governments who are ready to do some serious damage to those who get in their way, inequality due to being born that way, racism and so so much more. That show goes heavy and then turns around and does silly.

Ryan Reynolds did a movie called School of Life (2005) that was a mix of comedy & drama, that got mixed reviews. Ryan demonstrates his usual wit, but there are serious bits mixed in. I liked it, damn the critics!
Recommended for your private viewing pleasure, if you don't want to put it on the channel.

Random recommendation as a palate cleanser after you finish The Expanse. If you haven't watched it before, I highly recommend "Galaxy Quest" if you haven't seen it yet. It is the "Tucker & Dale vs Evil" of the sci fi world and boasts an absolutely stellar cast. Don't look up anything if you haven't seen it previously, so many fun things to see:)
As a few others have mentioned, another Shawn Levy-Ryan Reynolds collaboration worth checking out is "The Adam Project"!
It's the real world. Who gets hit by a car, in the real world? In my opinion, this movie does a much better job at implementing the VR concepts that were in Ready Player One. Ready Player One tried to convince us that it was both a videogame, but also that it extremely advanced & ultra realistic. However, its approach to that, was to make things detailed, but still fake looking - game like. In my opinion, if gaming ever gets super advanced, it will look more like Free Guy's world - as photo realistic as possible but with prompts and overlays to guide the players. It seems to me, that the goal of most games is not to look like a video game but be real enough to be immersive as possible.
I enjoyed this film. I really liked the trailers. However, I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. There are quite a few movies that have tried a similar theme. Ready Player One, of course, Matrix (somewhat), Jumanji (Rock version), and others. (etc.) So far, I think Free Guy has done the best job, as far as the videogame theme.
As you are a big Star Wars fan, I would suggest Knights of the Old Republic. One of my favourite games with some really quirky characters and a great plot. If you want a star wars gane set during the film timeline though, Jedi Fallen Order is well received.
For me, this movie is re-watchable. Same with Deadpool and Deadpool 2 and Bullet Train. Have you see Bullet Train? Both Ryan and Channing make appearances in it.

If you liked some of the background music, like when Guy got his memory back ,it's from a Disney short cartoon only 6 minutes long shown before "Wreck it Ralph". Black and white and in a brand new format like old style meets 3D. It's one of the most romantic cartoon I've ever seen and It's all done with out words. It's called "PaperMan". You should definitely do a reaction to “Ready Player One” very similar to Free Guy. It’s a fun gaming & nostalgic Easter egg type movie! A must watch 🙌🏼

Have you seen Meet Joe Black with Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins, and Claire Forlani? If not, it seems like a movie you'd _really_ enjoy. I think there is a small nod to that movie in this one (probably shouldn't say what regardless of spoiler-y, or not), but I'm not 100%.
Either way, I'd highly recommend throwing it on a list or just casually watching.

Deadpool 1 and 2 are some of the most enjoyable super hero movies. They are R-rated, but good humour.
Having a lightsaber is great but I think you need to pause for just a moment when you realize the guy you’re fighting is blocking your lightsaber with his hands…
If you ever consider doing a Let's Play, I highly recommend Detroit: Become Human or Until Dawn for your first games.
