Hammer's weapon stealing is one of most creative little ideas I've seen in any RTS game. I know, tiberium wars did it first with NOD avatars, but still :D. Pity it's a bit difficult to put this feature to full practical use, even in campain.
And RA3 fixed the annoyance where the unit to salvage parts from had to be yours too... Too bad there isn't a fix to allow the same on the Avatar, official or mod...
Dude 10:45 is so funny to me. The mental image of a fairly sized tank firing a super weapon, so powerful it drags the tank itself into its blast radius. Causing the tank to destroy itself.

In Uprising you can spam the toggle abiliy of Hammers to give the leech beam a crazy fire rate. It lets you increase the damage output and make your tanks almost invincible.
Hammer-Drones feels like a reference to cnc general's usa tanks' drones mechanic, specifically i think it was called...hellfire? The red drone with rockets
One quirk that doesn't seem to be noticed when the Hammer Tank attacks with its leeched weapon is that the rate of fire is "reduced" - this is because both the Hammer Tank and the extra weapon are considered as one weapon and not a separate appendage. So don't wonder why the Hammer's normal attack speed is somewhat "glitching". This is more observable when the Hammer Tank has a Tsunami Tank turret - even the latter's weapon attack speed is not as fast and consistent as it should.
I remember the first time i noticed the weapon steal ability was when i leeched a V4. Can defend against tanks, can heal, fast and an artillery attack make it an extremely deadly combo.
This is my most favorite unit in the RA3. The hidden aircraft weapons can see in one campaign mission in Uprising. Remix mod have full support for leeching weapons.

Just got done with the RA3 campaign and I never knew about the leech function doing any of this stuff. I might just have to go again to get an arty hammer for kicks.
Trust me it's very fun using the V4 hammer. Because of the fact that the Hammer tank's being the tankiest of the MBTs and having a very strong close range gun makes it a very good siege tank. Just don't use the dreadnought use the V4 launcher instead
took me a long time to figure out how leech beam even worked as a kid, despite watching the in-game tutorials, so I stated lots of obvious things in this video that'd probably make most players grunt, so that the video helps those who never figured it out

4:02 hammers really dont need to kill their targets. Ally hammers can leach beam another Ally vehicle lets say another hammer and you can make the hammer go to the grinder bit of the construction crane and the hammer tank will get a new secondary weapon. And if the Hammer is leaching an enemy anyone can kill that enemy and the hammer can still get the weapon
Ahh! My very favourite unit in game! Just because of the leech novelty! I would ask for some boost back for leech but I feel that Allies Guardian would reserve 25% Crio effect per shot for "balance". Oh and sputnik +500 credits of costs.

Both deployed and mobile version allow your vehicles top act if all get destroyed all factory units get stunned until rebuilding Sputnik? Or should they self-freeze so the Allies could be more viable?
When I realized the leech also gets you a weapon the Hammer become my favourite, its allready great for being a reliable battletank that can 1v1 others, but if you can also add versitability by adding an extra weapon, giving tesla is a must for me in campaings. But I did notice the Anti air wouldn't work for it, I thouht it was bugged, I guess it does but why only if you order it? Did they do this on porpuse to nerf it? Because I would rage when I see the hammer not attacking the (F-ING) cryocopters

Hey XYHC, not sure who to ask so I figured I'd ask here. How did you get started with modding RA3? Did you follow any tutorials? I'm trying to make a small mod to my gameplay (add explosive effect to apoc tank shots by default), but even after getting the SDK, building the mod and launching via game browser, I can't get it to work. If the mod builds and doesn't crash on startup, it crashes when the unit spawns. Thanks.
Starting with modding is hard, yep. Don't do anything fancy yet - Try modifying a single unit's cost then build, see if the setup is working on your end. I got started reading the tutorial on CnCLabs, but sounds like you've already got the basics down. There are modding communities you can ask for help from. You can probably start at ItzTeeJay's server, then find more servers from there.

Nah Mass Prod only affects units' production cost. You would always grind for 75% of a unit's intended cost regardless of whether you got the unit at a discount. Hence after getting mass prod, people can infinitely grind sickles losing virtually no money, and hope to get one or two terror drone surprise spawns on destruction for extra cash

IMHO, the Hammer Tank (and other units) symbolizes the main problem with RA3 for those who are more used to RA2/Emperor: too much focus on micro. 10:30 is this real? Because if it is, from my experience with RA2 the only reason why that happens is because a) debug or b) developers needed a unit to "hold" those weapons/warheads - that's the reason why RA2 has a Rhino Tank armed with one of the Prism Tank's lasers, and why the WEEDGUY hack existed in TibSun and RA2. The gist of why that was done is because RA2 doesn't have a functional list of warheads or weapons, so they can't ever be actively used or the game will crash. Hence they're "initialised" by giving them to a unit or building that can't ever by built or the weapons are set up so the initialised weapon is never actually used.
When I realized the leech also gets you a weapon the Hammer become my favourite, its allready great for being a reliable battletank that can 1v1 others, but if you can also add versitability by adding an extra weapon, giving tesla is a must for me in campaings. But I did notice the Anti air wouldn't work for it, I thouht it was bugged, I guess it does but why only if you order it? Did they do this on porpuse to nerf it? Because I would rage when I see the hammer not attacking the (F-ING) cryocopters
it's not on purpose. Just how different weapon targeting conflict with each other when mounted onto the same unit. Stolen weapons are in the tertiary weapon slot behind cannon & leech beam

Having a whole army of athena hammer would be a massive advantage. They will send their enemy bases and ground units to dust

yes it's possible. Just have them as separate units starting with specific tertiary weapons without needing weapon listener
