As a Miami fan, and a guy who wanted Tua drafted, let him play out his 5th year and let him prove he can win games against good teams in crunch time and in the playoffs. If he can't let him go. Any ACTUAL top 5 QB on this loaded offence would have had well over 5000 yards and over 50 TDs. Tua is holding this offence back.

Herbert has had an incompetent coach for years. Staley lost the chargers games and as a “defensive” minded head coach his defense was trash. Not only that Herbert is in the same devision as the chiefs.
Jared Goff took the rams to the super bowl in 2019 and just took the lions earlier this year to the nfc championship game!!! There is no comparison, Goff is way better and tua should not even be mentioned in the same sentence as Jared

I've been following the Phins since their glory of the early 70s.
This reinforces the argument I've made in the past: unless Tua thinks he _can't_ keep improving next season, it's best for both him and the Dolphins to wait a year before signing a new contract. Dolphins get more confidence in him as a long-term QB and if he performs, he can ask for even more money than he can get by signing this year.

Our third string QB did better in the playoffs in Buffalo two years ago than Tua did last year. Tua is actually holding this offense back. Mahomes in the offence would shatter records, Tuas are average at best.

I've watched the Dolphins very closely since Shula's first press conference...so I've seen lots of great QB play from our two HOF QB's and lots of middling QB play from our other QB's, but the only time we won SB's we had a young QB that reminds me of Tua except he had one of the best defenses and best OL's in league history. Give Tua a great D and great OL and I absolutely believe he can beat the good teams and win a couple SB's. The games we were losing to the good teams last year we were getting pushed around on both sides of the line and our D wasn't stopping anybody. having said all that I realize we lost our top players on both sides of the ball to injuries last year...but who knows if nay of them will ever comeback and stay healthy or not. But to my eyes our problem is not Tua, he is one of our best players and he plays QB, be thankful and .pay him!!!

Im a Phins fan, i say something like 46-48 for 4-5 years half guaranteed. In 2 years hes gonna be like #12 in qb pay and less than 15% of cap, renegotiate in 3 years
Only Simms can look at Goff and think he doesn't have MORE talent around him than Tua. OL does still matter, right?
The main difference between Goff and Tua is that Goff played in front of a top 2 O-line and Miami had the 2nd most OL injuries in the league. And the cold weather narrative is BS; Waddle was out and Tyreek was playing hurt since that dirty play vs Tennessee. Tua's weapons were not there and the O-line were all backups.
As someone who hates the Dolphins, I hope they lock in with him and overpay. I've seen what he is when he doesnt have freebie openings because of Tyreek Hill 😊
Lifelong Dolphins fan here, I like Tua, he's the best qb we've had in 2 decades, but that isn't saying much with the qbs we've had since Marino. I think the problem is paying him right now, nobody's saying dump him, but we picked up his 5th year option after he had 3 concussions and never finished a full season. It was good to see him stay healthy last year, but that's 1 season so far. Now he wants to be paid like a top 5 qb? I don't think it's a wise decision. He's under contract this year, we can tag him next year if necessary, but so many things can go wrong this year, why lock ourselves into it right now? We have Waddle, Philips and maybe even Holland all due for new deals, this roster simply won't be as talented moving forward if he gets 50+ million and at least 2 of those other guys get paid too. This is a big year for Tua. Miami can be patient and wait until next off-season if they really want to know where his value lies. No need to overpay now. I want him to do well, we've been waiting a long time for a winner in Miami, but we can't even beat the Bills who have owned our division since Tua arrived. That's problem #1 before even getting into the other good teams we can't seem to beat either.

People forget Tua's concussion history. One big hit and he might die of brain injury. He throws quick for a reason. He isn't willing to hold onto the ball like other QBs, because a hit could knock him out of football.

Dolphins must not be serious about winning a championship. Chris Grier has his entire career tied to a good, but not special, QB in a league where defense doesn’t win championships anymore, quarterbacks do. That, or they’ve already forgotten about his performance in Kansas City. It’s the AFC. Apart from the fact that Miami in general doesn’t win playoff games on the road in general through their history. It’s Baltimore, Denver, Buffalo, New York, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, New England. All cold weather, outdoor teams. Tua is 0-7 when the weather gets cold, and that’s even if his health allows him to play. Miami made a big mistake not drafting a quarterback to replace him.
The mistake was drafting Tua instead of Herbert.

Chris is right, he is a good player...not a great player. I think it would be insane to pay Tua a crazy contract because he has the right coach and the GM has given him a great supporting cast. Miami is trying to prevent making the same mistake the Giants made with Jones. Similar to Seattle trading Wilson to the the Broncos. Seattle knew what Wilson was and knew he wanted a new contract, but were able to move on from him by trading him to the Broncos.

Tua is Goff with potential injury issues the next 5 years, if he goes 5 years without a concussion or injury it resets things. I can't win with a B QB, so put your job on the line with Darnold and see how that works. He is a $30M QB till he wins in the playoffs and the end of season, they finished the season 1-6 this looks like Jimmy G. They should have been proactive, they could have brought in Fields or Howell, though I suspect these guys, with more information, will be available next year and you save a draft pick.
When he gets the concussion, it’s coming. Let him play this season out. If he doesn’t play, who would want him.

I don't get it. Are people afraid Tua is going to be another Watson situation? Tua has talent, works hard, and has only shown progress to improve his team. Like the Dolphins didn’t get worse since they drafted him...Yeah, the Dolphins will probably overpay a bit for him, but all teams overpay when its time to pay star players. It's the way the market works in the NFL, especially for QBs. The only positions that's under paid are running backs now...
At some point Tua needs to go win a game the Dolphins are losing, instead of the Dolphins having to win a game Tua is losing. He had some horrible games down the stretch, with only one game over 300 yards after November 1, which was against the Raiders. He didn't throw for 200 yards in either game against KC, and the Bills game to close out the season.
Like when the Dolphins were down 14 points on the Road to Goff last yr and Tua had a Monster game and got the Win?,.
Or this yr when the Chargers were at 100% and the Dolphins were down the whole game on the Road and Tua put up mind-boggling numbers and threw the game winning TD?,.

The Dolphins defense won that Lions game, by pitching a shutout in the second half. You had to reach back two years to find two games, and both were pathetic examples of Tua winning a tough game.
