  • What a fantastic meeting of 10 1/4 steam loco's.We were told 15 loco's would be in steam. They had come from many railways around the country.
Ingfield Light railway is located in the grounds of a school, which is private.
Lucky for us they do have open days of which this is one. A fete was being run along with a small dog show. Fun for all the family.
The highlight of the day for me was to see the double headed Royal Scots, lovely.

Another eye opener. I have never seen di many 10.25 gauge locos in one place. What a delight. I noted the text saying one was your loco, so caravan and loco on this occasion? It looks to be a substantial layout but cannot find map of life or its length.
Glad the dog got a ride too .

Sorry to mislead you but I have a Royal Engineer in 7 1/4. It would be nice to have that 10 1/4 though. The dog went everywhere with the guy with the pipe, lovely dog. Even has his own hi-vis.

A truly superb video Chris…beautifully filmed in great detail and well edited too! I sat and watched it in one go with my mouth wide open with admiration! I was delighted to see the 10.25in gauge Merchant Navy class…first time I’ve seen one in that gauge. I was also privileged to ride on the same carriage as Rosie…what a treat! I was impressed to see how well the railway caters fir the severely disabled students…their wheelchairs seemed so secure in the obviously especially made wheel-chair wagons. A lovely railway and it has become famous for it location and uniqueness. Many thanks to you snd the the railway and the host school/facility. Best wishes from a very envious Rob In not-so-far away Bournemouth.

As this is not so far from you Rob, you should take a visit. They do have other events listed for this year, this being the first. The railway and the school have a good working relationship. Long may it be so. This one has been on my list a very long time, so pleased we have made it at last. What a welcome with all these lovely loco's. I believe the M.N comes from Easleigh Lakes Railway. Lovely day with them all....... Regards Chris

All the engines are awesome, in fact. I like the consecutively numbered pair of King Arthur's. Are they all privately owned?

Best collection of 10 1/4 I will ever see. Yes the Southern King Arthurs were very nice. Being a young lad train spotting at Salisbury many, many years ago, we would see all these and Merchant Navy and so on. Trips to Waterloo with my dad as well. great days.

Have found a map showing the railway layout. I see that there is no circuit, but rather three ends with turntables. Wonder if they will ever join the two closest ends to make a circuit?

That is something I don't know Stuart. As you must have seen on our visit they didn't use the full length of line, as they were using part for driver (diesel) training.
