In the spring of the year, few techniques are more effective at catching bass than a swim jig. In this video, Bassmaster Opens pro, Brad Leuthner, gives a rundown on his preferred rod, reel, and line setup for using a swim jig to cover shallow water. Brad pairs his 7'6" Heavy Ark Invoker with an Ark Gravity 7 in the 8.1:1 gear ratio with a 20lb Sufix Advance Fluorocarbon. The lengthier rod allows for increased casting distance, allowing you to cover more water at a higher efficiency than shorter rods.

Love the swim jig but , 8:1 sucks in south FL. Too much vegetation, no torque in the reel. 7:1 Tatula ct , Ark essence 7'3 mag med/heavy ,50# xplasma braid, is my set up.

Sounds like a great setup for south FL!
