My favorite features are the ability to pitch sounds and the block chain function, allowing you to record and playback up to 4 patterns. With the HKA eprom expansion, this drum machine is a beast!
@@NostalgicExplorer Hi, I have the same machines. Can you send prog ch data from Digi via midi to the rd 626? I'm using Digi to sequence and send midi data through 10 channels. For example, I want to switch pitch on the drums via Digi. How can we do this?
I remember hearing these sounds on a lot of Shep Pettibone and Clivilles & Coles remixes and Jam & Lewis productions in the late 80s, especially the cowbells and congas
Awesome video. I've wanted one for a while but then I've never been blown away with the sound set. I think the sounds are good but always prefer the sounds of 707 and 505 but what makes this an ace drum machine is the tuning and individual outs. I'm sure I could grab one for £100 or less. 😎
Thank you so much for watching. I think the 505 and 626 in terms of sounds are similar, if you don't love the sounds today you can upgrade with a ROM expansion from HKA, that way you can have an 808 or 909 in that little machine, for £100 is not that bad.
@@NostalgicExplorer Yeah I've known about the upgrades for a while. Me I don't like to mess or circuit bend oldskool gear. I've seen too many beautiful 707s destroyed with horrible circuit bending 😂. I might get a 626 one day I just felt the 707 and 505 had a bit more character!
@@TheBroDotTV Before I was into preserving the original stage of the machines but for this ones I wouldn't mind buying a new set to get ROM kits, I saw amazing things with them, but I totally understand not modifying them.
I've had a 505 and 707 and honestly think the 707 is a bit overrated - 626 always seemed like it might be the best of the three to me. The 505 is nice and punchy but the stereo out can be limiting. These days I use samples of my old 505/707 on the Novation Circuit Rhythm, which even though it's still only stereo, has enough flexibility otherwise to keep those sounds around and integrate them more easily. Programming the old machines doesn't compare so well these days! Nice demo also, all about those congas...
Hey! Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Honestly you don't need a 707 if you have this one, or only if you are after the sounds. I like it but his is way more portable.

@@lugo4905 yes, this little machine can do so much and today thanks to expansions. Love what HKA does.

Very recognizable sounds from this machine and great for dance tracks! Cheers!

I use my 626 as a midi to sound interface to trigger my formanta UDS drum machine 😅
I mean, that's another way to also give it a use. Cheers!
nice jam!
Thanks!
Well done!
@@CHARLIEtheCATofficial Thanks 🙏🏽
