    Thank you, Tim for tipping your less than able driver and the hotel bell hop. Having served at the Manila, Philippines post a couple of decades ago, the US Embassy hasn't changed much. You must have some good friends within the US Embassy to get inside footage for your vlog. I didn't think highly of you when I first stumbled upon your channel, especially in your "Age Gap not Working" video. I also didn't understand the relevance of the "qualifiers" detail for folks making comments. I'm sure the "Coming Back to the US Broke is just another act and that you're not really broke. It's just your scheme to peddle some dollars from your viewers. But truly, I wish you all the best. You have a lovely family.

      This actually the best historical location that I think I've ever visited. The Filipinos treated us so well. My daughter was sea sick on the boat ride there and a lady took her aside to care for her and comfort her. It was the nicest that I can remember being treated anywhere as an American. So many Filipinos and American died there and on the Bataan Death march which following. The bombed out 3 mile long barracks was amazing as was the gun positions and hide out cave.
      For obvious reasons, there's separate tour buses, based on language. One is English and the other is Japanese. I spoke at length with one of the tour narrators who as still alive at that time (quite a few years ago). The Filipinos were nice enough to provide a nice cemetery for the cowardly and despicable Imperial, Japanese murderers (no disrespect to modern Japanese).

    MacArthur didn't do any fighting, it was the rank and file who did that and many lost their lives after MacArthur left them and went to Sydney Australia where he enjoyed a life of luxury. MacArthur presented himself as the big hero who liberated the Philippines, but he did nothing except giving orders. After the war he ran for President and was totally unsuccessful, I wonder why? Bob. Veteran Infantry Soldier. New Zealand.

    • @TimKyoutube
      @TimKyoutube  Рік тому +4

      While MacA was no doubt steeped in hubris, I think he is still a much higher caliber man than most General officers of today who are complete political shills. I was in the infantry as well and understand as you do. No Officer or enlisted soldier above the squad level should be doing any fighting (by fighting I mean physically sending live rounds). They belong directing the fight. So of course GEN MacA is so far removed from the fighting man but this in no way is the sole reason to discredit him.

    • @TimKyoutube
      @TimKyoutube  Рік тому +2

      @@daddybob6096 I think one thing that MacA did well is the role of integrating the Japanese after the war. He certainly set the groundwork for a flourishing society that for a brief time in the 80s rivaled the US economy. Take Soviet integration of East Germany or Poland as the antithesis of this.

    When dealing with airport taxis this works for me. I go to the arrival area and find a taxi dropping off departing passengers. Some times you have to be assertive with the security people who are there to help people into the terminal at terminal 3, but at terminal 1 and 2 all you have to do is tell the security people that you want to go to the Jollie bee. The jollie bee is in the departure area. Just take your pick of one of those taxis , but be sure to insist on using the meter before you get in the taxi, If the taxi driver doesn’t want to use the meter shout “stop” and get out and find another taxi. The fare in manila to Ermita, the area of the US Consulate, is 250 -300 pesos on a normal taxi. if you look like and act like a dumb foreigner you will pay 500 to 700 pesos for that short ride.

      When I grab a cab I do 3 things.
      1 Open the passenger door and check the car is cold.
      2 Have a look at the meter to make sure it has been reset and not still running from the last fare.
      3 Enter the route on my phone and moniter the journey to make sure he doesnt take the long way round.

    Tim K are you still on the TRT? How’s the progress going? What side effects/positive effects have you noticed so far? Would you recommend it?

    Tim said when leaving the Manila airport to get a yellow taxi instead of a grab because there were three people so can you explain why grab would still not be the best option?
    Thanks

    Last year in August and then in October I stayed in the Manila Hotel its a nice hotel but the restaurants sucked although I did not go in the Red Jade, the best way to get food there is through room service or you can go in the pool and the bar there will get you food and those guys were great another draw back is they don't have any deals with cab companies so its hit or miss to get a cab because they are set back from the road and have security stops on the way in so unless its a drop off there's no cabs. I'm glad you got into the embassy because they denied me and I am getting real sick of them we got denied again for our visa now they say the medical ran out and we had to do another one so this past weekend she did one and they said because she had sputum on the last one in August but negative for TB she has to go through the 3 months of testing all over again regardless if she has sputum or not so in the beginning of May its back to Manila to spit in a cup for 3 days and then another 2 month wait for the results this is pushing 4 years now.
