    None of the Grizzlies from 2002 and up come factory with a reverse override button. The button you are referring to is actually the diff lock override button. Here's a few reason that I know of as to why the reverse light on Kodiaks and Grizzlies can and will flash. If you rev the engine up in neutral or park and hold the RPM'S up for roughly 10 seconds or more, the reverse indicator light will automatically start flashing. This is normal. This happens because the speed sensor isn't sensing any speed, causing the CDI to bypass the reverse switch and sends a quick back and forth open and closed signal to the reverse indicator light. I know this wasn't your issue, but I just thought I would throw that info out there incase someone runs into that. Second reason could be a bad speed sensor, or a bad reverse indicator switch. I've done this mod on several Kodiaks, but what I did was I added an extended wire to that green and white wire, long enough to reach an off / on switch, and then another wire from that switch back to a ground. This way you can just flip a switch, or push button switch when you need to override the reverse limiter and then flip off if you want it back to safety mode. And doing it this way, the reverse light won't flash or stay on unless the override is on. Hopefully this helps someone.

    Hello ruyguy, i have a question, how does the dash know what gear the transmission is on for example P D N R on the dash? My dash doesnt light up on which gear it is on, i have a 450 kodiak, and the dash looks like yours with a green button. Does the starter switch tell the dash which gear it is on? I dont know which cable tells the dash which gear it is on, there is no cable on neutral switch. And yes I am asking you this because it does not crank.

    • @ruyguy8888
      @ruyguy8888  Рік тому

      There is a gear positioning sensor that's on the right hand side of the 660 motor casing, i don't know exactly where it would be on the 450 however it should be close. It's a magnetic contact sensor that can get dirty over time or simply fail. That is what sends the signal to your ECM and into your dash to indicate your Neutral position.

    so you just find the wire. cut it. splice a new one where you cut it and ground it ? thats it ? or you also keep the connection to where it was going. What im asking is does the wire end up a three way or still a two way

    • @ruyguy8888
      @ruyguy8888  4 роки тому

      That wire will end up a 3 way connection. Essentially all you are doing is grounding the appropriate wire on both sides of the splice via a single wire to ground.

      @@ruyguy8888 My 2002 660 almost got me in a serious situation, with no room to turn around, and no power to back up, on a steep sand hill that had collapsed into a ravine. I am tired of that damn stutter from the limiter when I need power in reverse. I rarely need the full power, and can't live with a flashing reverse light all the time. Wondering if I could put in a 3 way toggle switch, with one input(original feed from under seat) going in. With the two outlets on it, I would connect one back to the original wire that I cut, and the last outlet would ground to frame. Theoretically this would only ground it out when I flip the switch, when I need the power. I'm not looking right at my wheeler at the moment, but does this sound feasible or possible?

    I had a 2003 Grizzly 660, it did not have a reverse override button, and the reverse limiter was working correctly. Occasionally my reverse light would flash too. Maybe it was 2004 they added what you was talking about?

    Good morning friend, look, I have the same ATV but the fault is a little different, when it accelerated while parked or in motion, the reverse warning light comes on and if I continue accelerating, the temperature warning light comes on, could you please guide me to solve this fault?

    • @ruyguy8888
      @ruyguy8888  8 місяців тому

      Sounds to me like your reverse sensor is failing. When you rev it up in park or while driving forward a faulty sensor can throw a fault code showing that there is something wrong with the transmission. it thinks its in reverse travelling too fast.
      I would start with that. If your temp light is coming on as well and you know for sure that it's not overheating, then it sounds like you also wither have a faulty temp sensor or you may just have a shorted wiring harness causing both of those faults at once.

    • @ricardovazquez1437

      Thank you very much friend, look, the ATV started to fail since we attached a harrow to it so that it could be pulled. At that moment, after a while, it got hot, because of a plastic screw that goes in the engine compartment and since then it has been failing.

      First thing id do is check the battery output. if its good over 12V, then start tracing wires in the harness for continuity on the dash plug to your CDI harness plugs.
      it sounds like there is a voltage or ground issue

    ok dude.. as a atv mechanic... watching your video.. i see nothing of the post of the reverse light blinking.... so i replaced the speed sensor switch... BOOM.. problem fixed... if the problem continues after replacing the speed sensor switch.. check the CDI. for a ground loss.. goodluck

    • @ruyguy8888
      @ruyguy8888  2 роки тому

      If you watched the whole video i explained that it's blinking due to the reverse ignition cut out (part of the speed sensing circuit) being bypassed to give me full power in reverse since this is a 02 model and doesn't have the manual override.
      If i where to disconnect the ground wire used to bypass, the blinking stops. There was never any issues with the speed sensor.
      I've long since sold this ATV in 2019.

      If the little white sensor plug for the fuel level guage is no cut or disconnected, you will need to replace the fuel level guage. I had to do that on mine as well many years ago.
      not hard but you will need to pull your tank plastics off.

    This is actually incorrect. The 2004 grizzly override button only provides full power whe the diff lock is engaged. It has nothing to do with providing full power in reverse. You can hold that button all day and reverse is still retarded on the 2004.

    3:12 "...and what I've done" is wrong.
    While your circuit is a good solution, you used the worst possible electrical connection.
    3m Scotch locks or any clone there of, are extremely horrible. They cause increased resistance. They introduce moisture into the harness. And they sever strands of your wire. It's not recommended by anyone who's knowledgeable in mobile electrical.
    The best thing would be to get the correct connector. A 3 conductor weather proof type. Lastly you can also
    solder in a wire to it and seal it with something like liquid electrical tape or something similar.
