- My record for finished projects this year so far is two of six. I have some catching up to do!
June was a productive month and I made progress on my project but I knew that particular project was going to be a longer lasting project! I also worked a little more on some of the other previous projects, I'm feeling pretty good about what I've managed to finish so far this year.
We challenge everyone everywhere to pick out 12 projects you want to accomplish in 2024.They can be any type or size of project you want! Quilts, Crafts, Painting, Knitting, Crocheting, Home Dec, Scrapbooking Projects, Clothing, Legos, Art Pieces, - absolutely any category! It's your choice! Write the list down, numbering them one through twelve. Find a way to store them so they are accessible and easy to find. The first week of each month we will present a video where I reveal what I accomplished and to pick the number for the project that month. Then it's time to work on whatever project we pick for that month!! Get It Done!!
This year we encourage you to also pick a bonus project; something BIG! Do a little bit every month and by the end of the year you will be done, or, at least closer to done than you were in January! Some projects need to be spread out over a longer period of time, Look for something very special.
We know it is sometimes hard to motivate yourself to finish old projects or start on a project that is intimidating. We want to help you get over the hurdle and help you create and enjoy the satisfaction of a finished project! Let's do this together!!

The Quilted Forest is located at 205 North Clark in Forest City, IA. Our phone number is 641-585-2438. We stock patterns, books, notions, batting, and fabric for sewing and quilting projects. Our shop is filled with finished quilts and smaller projects to provide plenty of inspiration. We are open Monday - Friday, 10am to 5pm, and 10am to 4pm on Saturday. We are in the central time zone.

I found this right after the first of the year and have worked right along with you. I have gotten so many of my ufos done. June was the first time I didn’t have one to actually get finished but I got caught up with my boms so I’m still calling it a win. 😊

I cannot explain how much I appreciate this challenge! And being able to comment on your videos, makes me feel like I have to be somewhat accountable, plus it's a good check in point. I finished project #9 back in March and decided that when it came up I would get my machine serviced. And I did get my machine serviced this last month!!! Due to certain anxieties this has been a task that I have put off for actual years, but it has been done and I will feel more confident for next time. A huge win for myself! July #7 brings a small tablerunner that I just need to sandwich and finish. I think a small win is exactly what I need to get my sewjo back.
The progress you made on your project #9 is impressive! Plus with how much work you've done to past months that didn't get finished. Excited to see how far you end up at the end of the year (is it bad that I feel a little better knowing that others don't finish within the month too?). Especially since you gave yourself a stretch goal of a 13th project of working through a book

Great idea for staying somewhat on track to finish projects. If I actually made a list, I might make some progress...hummm, need to think on that process.

You're making progress and it's fun to see old quilt parts turned into beautiful quilts. Are you planning to give your aunt the quilt you make from her parts?
I did not get June finished but I did create a pattern, pick the accent fabric and have a plan. I think it will come together quickly but I got side-tracked by another project I have to have finished soon.
July is going to be a bear -- no plan. I'll have to start thinking.
Great Progress on your June project. I actually finished a 3 year mariners compass project in June. I will be working on a Christmas quilt this month. Thanks for the inspiration.

How fun seeing all the progress you're making. Its impressive how you manage to do any sewing and quilting on monthly projects between the shop, all the youtube videos and having a personal life. Well done you!!!
On a side note, this video shows me once more how connected we are in our lives. Living in Boise, your reference to your Aunt Lavonne from that city caught my attention. Who knows, perhaps in my adventures in quilting your aunt and crossed paths.

I just love watching you! You have such a calm, sweet voice. The choosing every month is so exciting and I don’t even know what your project boxes contain. Makes me want to do this too! I am usually a monogamous stitcher and have stepped out of my comfort zone this year and have 7 going at once! Have a happy July!

I love these monthly picks! I made my List of 12 and played along some months, and didn’t on others. One month I realized, “I hate this project” and threw it back in the drawer. 😂 Next year if I hate it again I will bin it and try to forget I ever started it. Last month my project was working on finishing a quilt my Mom started in 1971 when I was 14 years old - one of two identical quilts. In June I analyzed it, made some decisions, showed it to friends who are quilters for opinions, and started picking out the machine quilting that defeated my Mom (in 1971 there weren’t many options) and I am moving toward finishing it on my longarm. It is a summer-long project, but at least I started! (Jack and I are picking, picking, picking!) I laughed when you pulled out #7 because just a few hours before I had pulled out my number #7 to make some decisions on it. So, I guess #7 gets done this month! It is my commemorative quilt - I made a single 10” string block using scraps from every quilt I have made for family members and friends since I started quilting. I have no idea how crazy this quilt (or two - as I have made a lot of quilts) will look, but here we go! You are so fun! Enjoy those vintage blocks!
