Look into getting a Swellpro waterproof drone, it lands in the water and the controller floats too.
what kind of camera was she using?
Did Alligator Reef a few years ago. Never seen open water that deep and that clear. Awesome experience. Like swimming in a very big fish tank. Talk about bonding with nature....
It is one of my favorite places to visit

Incredible views, Ive been in Tampa since 95 and back in 2004 we took our two new Sea Doo's down to john pennycamp area. It was amazing! For not a lot of $$ a jet ski can provide so much fun! By the way, great editing work!

@@FloridaSkiRiders nothing worse than serene, beautiful day in nature. Then in come the noisy posers. They scare wild life. Annoy people. Always have to ride around everyone, to make sure they are seen. Close to beaches. I started watching, as soon as i seen a jet ski ,I stopped it. Do you like twats popping monos and burnouts up your street? No. Well i don't like them around me at the beach. Hey that's just me........

Yes. Yes you will.
You have to know what your doing to navigate the waters in the keys. Do not go without a GPS. It is absolutely the most gorgeous water I have ever seen and we never get tired of going!!!
will the Garmin lakes and rivers GPS be enough or do I need to download the S. Florida and N. Bahamas you think??? or just regular GPS will be good enough? I have a Garmin Echomap 73sv on my Seadoo
How did they get by before those GPS things were invented?
I’ve been to key west before all I can say is man that water was pretty as hell ,that was my first time seeing water that pretty I’ve never seen water that pretty being that I’m from the city up north

You need to set the Go Home setting to be you. It has 2 settings. Go home to the original take off position or where you are currently.

I got to swim that reef growing up with 0-3 boats max...boy it's gotten crowded
Going next month cant wait!! Tips for anchoring as far as depth and type? Water looks shallow and I normally use a weight.
I used to visit the reef back in the early eighties, maybe 2 or three vessels anchored up. No jets ski's, they should be outlawed.

I grew up in the keys and even though it’s calm, it still gets super duper nasty on jet ski’s,
. You rarely ever see jet ski’s at alligator.

Went here on a snorkeling trip through Islander Girl Snorkeling with my boyfriend and his family and it was such an amazing time. If you want to go snorkeling in the Keys do it through Islander Girl Snorkeling you won’t regret it!!

We are headed to Marathon for Thanksgiving. I also drone. We were thinking about renting a boat and getting out there. I'm so impressed you droned while on a jet ski!
Sombrero Light is closer to Marathon, but because of the angle out to sea from let-s say Grassy Key (Part of Marathon) It's not a crazy distance.

What kind of drone? Looked like a Spark but the footage was clearer than I expected it would be.
It is the DJI Mavic Air 2. amzn.to/31FBE6m ...they just released it and of course we had to snag it up! Perfect size (super compact) for throwing in the dry bag we have and launching and catching from the jet ski! Woukd definitely recommend getting the fly more pack...well worth it!

When is the best time to go? We went there this past weekend and it was rough tide, couldn't stay very long
Honestly, it really depends on the wind. We were there in June and the wind was about 2 mph.... perfect weather... and I'm sure you are aware, thats hard to pay attention to, especially in the Keys. Wish I could be more specific on a month... it truly depends on the wind speeds. 👍👍

No gators in that area, however you might run across a few sharks
There is the occasional crocodile around there but luckily the *American crocodile* is very timid and shy around people.

I've launched and recovered the DJI Mavic Air 2 from a boat before. It's tricky to say the least, if there's any current or movement on the boat/ski you are likely to get your finger cut from the rotors. It's substantially easier if you can have someone on the shore line to catch it or even standing in shallow water.
@@ThePlaton20 that's my fear with the current and while on a ski it's even harder to stay still and leveled. That would be a good video.

Why is it called alligator reef?
Great question! Now you got me searching google 🤣
FLORIDA SKY RIDERS The SS Aligator navy ship docked there regularly. That's where Alligator reefs name came from.
You're more likely to see a crocodile in that area. It's rare but they're sighted occasionally. The area was named Alligator Reef after a ship called the SS Alligator ran aground there..

greetings from Oregon. WOW..I want to do this so bad when we move this summer to FL. Is there a right time of the year vs NOT the right time? I suspect summer will be way too hot?

Oregon?! We are originally from Washington State! Love the fact that you are making the move! About the timing, this was in June (perfect in my mind)... if you go from Nov - May, it's too cold (in my opinion). For best conditions, go when the wind is at it's lowest to maybe 7 mph to 10 mph tops. Any wind speed above 7-10... I wouldn't go lol. Hope that helps a bit! Cheers,

It was named after the USS Alligator after it ran aground from escorting merchant ships across the sea. I know... we were curious too!
