Love the boat and my next boat that we will circumnavigate with under all the Capes will be a Trimaran however I would love to see the Spray Dodger as a permanent hard top option, a solution for stowing a dingy and easily deploying it off a rear davit, an option of a carbon mast with in mast or in boom furling do as to be able to reef singe handed without leaving the cockpit, a small generator option, small 12v water maker option, and the ability to make the forward cabin a workshop with a watertight door making it an additional watertight bulkhead. Cannot wait to see the carbon version we will be purchasing for delivery in 2024.
Only one word describes the dragonfly: incredible! Attention to detail second to none. If I was given the opportunity to choose any cat or trimaran of any size and manufacturer; this is the boat I would choose
As an Engineer who has come late in to sailing, this boat ticks so many boxes for what I would want. Its easy to see how much thought has gone in to the design and function of every aspect.
Absolutely wonderful. Great design and execution. By nature, I am one of those guys who look for faults. There is almost nothing to question here. Almost. A very important thing that needs to be addressed is the exposed sail drive. It needs a protective tapered skeg in front of it to deflect those villainous, lobster/crab pot lines, the occasional free floating fishing net or HARD junk that fell off a freighter, floating just below the surface. If you run over one of those at 15 knots the sail drive could be dislodged or ripped out, leaving a large hole in your hull. It is a simple fix. The other thing is that you did not address the battery banks. Obviously, there is a battery for the engine and a house bank. Where are they; how many are they and what is the recharge capability? I could be wrong, but I do not think those small solar panels on the amas' are sufficient. That leaves the engine alternator, which is probably not the best way to power a boat with electric winches, lights, installed electronics and those power using devices brought on board. One possible solution is to install electrical connections such that large flexible solar panels can be tied down to the trampolines, or a removable arch over the helm stations. Or, maybe you already have a plan but you just didn't address it in the video. But again, an incredibly thought out machine. I want one.
I wish I knew how to sail and handle this boat. I only sailed a sunfish when a kid. My dream is to live and sail this type of boat. At 62 I’m afraid this dream just won’t happen. Not enough time or money to fulfill but simply an amazing craft. I have studied many boats and the combination of attention to detail on the dragonfly puts many larger craft to shame. What a great company
Thanks for this great and very informative video! The only other manufacturer with such an extensive video is Sirius yachts. Wish all manufacturers would produce this type of videos. Instead they only produce cinematic marketing clips which focus on sunrays between the sails and fruit baskets on tables. If you built a great boat you should have the desire to really introduce it in depth.
What an awesome boat! Thanks for the video. It would have been nice to know the battery storage/charging. Another thing, has there been any thought into using an electrical propulsion system like Oceanvolt?
Would like to see "versa" helm that either swings or slides from port to starboard (and back) for different tack. Liked the stern transom that folds flat out or in and contains a boarding plank for Med. style stern to the wall docking. Would like to see feasibility on 25hp outboards mounted on each ama float that tilt up out of the water to eliminate sail drive to park boat on beach. Excellent hatches improve interior visibility, ventilation, spacious feel. Impressive design and execution. Congratulations.
The boat of my dreams. Perfect size to combine family sailing and solo. Usually when I look at the boat I see huge list of modifications that I would do for personal preferences. Not in this case. Pretty much everything is spot on and it looks so good. I'm from Finland and I like to be out at sea in early and late season. Just there when sea sea is about to freeze or just after it starts to melt. Personally I don't enjoy getting wet or cold when it's windy or rainy. Thats why my boat would come with a big hard top to cover the whole cockpit all the way to the main sheet. Most likely to be closed down with a canvas back wall as well. And I'm sure the future is electric in sailing boats. No propane, no diesel. My boat would come with a electric motor and electric appliances that has to be accompanied with a big battery banks that could be charged throug the shore power, hydro generator feature of the engine as well as the solar panels on floats and the hard top. Yes that's would be it. The boat of my dreams...
Beautiful boat. I'd love to see an option with the outriggers covered end to end with solar and replace the Yanmar with a battery bank, possibly down the centerline of the boat.
great presentation! I think that dad had better let you do all presentations from now on 😉 it would be great to be shown the greater spray hood option... it would be helpful to be presented with various storage solutions in the floaters (I forget the technical term): examples of a hatch large enough to allow the storage of a folded bike; the fitting of a few diving tanks and a small compressor etc...
A pet peeve of mine is that designers want to provide dining space for two to three times more people than the boat should accommodate. This is not a forty foot long monohull that can accommodate a small family. It is a skinny, husband and wife, superfast cruiser. Quit installing interior seating and table for eight or ten people who might be on board three percent of the time! Design the interior for the sailors, not the occasional guests!!!!!!!!!!!!! More storage, more kitchen counter space, more refrigeration/freezing. Not more useless restaurant diners. Still like the boat, but I would have to customize it to make it useable.
Even the smallest models have the exact same bench seat and tables as they also convert into berths. And the table is not just for dining, it is for office use, seating, doing some work at, let alone it just makes use of the slim hull. You have to bear in mind even with the larger DF models you have a weight limit. It's not a monohull you can load up with 2 tons of water and 4 tons of coal (real old day couples cruising) this model, wet, on smallest engines is 6200 KG. Your MAXIMUM weight without crew is 7900 KG. That 1700kg very quickly starts to get used. Woodwork, appliances, tenders, watermakers, generators, generator fuel, and for a boat like this that's a maximum - not a target. But even so if you know you'll be OK within weight limits why not just retrofit to your specifications? I know a Brit who bought a US monohull, got rid of the air con and put had a solid fuel stove built in. A retrofit won't be expensive (compared to new price) and you can tailor to your exact needs.
Great presentation, very detailed and professionally done. 👍👍👍 What I would like to know, all Dragonfly trimarans have a conventional Bermuda rig, have you tried other rigs as well? For example 7/8, steep gaff or even a Latin or Crabcraw. Always a hand's breadth of water under the keel.
If Quorning could move that forward bulkhead further aft, then there would be more standing room infront of the bed in the forward cabin. The two cupboards in the saloon would be in the forward cabin as well, where they would increase the hanging locker space. It would make quite a difference to the usability. What would the structural implications be?
When it comes to trimarans you certainly get what you pay for: these are not cheap when compared to Corsair etc but it’s rare to be able to see “all” the details that make it so, this is a Rolls Royce when compared to most others: also great to see and hear the family owners give the rundown themselves, it shows pride in their product.
How open are they to some customizations for the build? deleting the aft cabin and bringing the kitchen area over, moving the center seating over, arm chairs on one side, extend the forward cabin. and extend the head.
Do you have an extra one hanging around? I would love to do a ten year around-the-world tour and video the whole thing! You would sell a lot of boats that way!
This Dragonfly looks awesome and so much worth the money. BUT: for a longer Trip (maybe 1 year or 2) the space living space is not that big - I would love to see something like a Hybrid of the actual Dragonfly with the Neel series (in a reasonable finishing quality!), including the moving outer parts of the Dragonfly, but with a bit higher and wider cockpit and living room. And also more loading space. I know, the performance will decrease but it would still be much faster than a monohull or a cruising kat.
Now I see why you went with dual helm stations due to the placement of the engine and the engine access panel. However, it is still a skinny boat, so you could have a tilting wheel that could swing it to the center of the cockpit if necessary, which probably still would not be necessary. So, either one of the helm stations would be sufficient. The more I watch your video the more I like your boat!
Beautiful boat...Question for you. Can it move on the water under engine power while the floats are floated in? Also can the the floats be folded in when it is docked in a slip? Thank You!
Да неплохо, хороший вариант при сложенных попловках , безопасная зона купания (особенно для детей) в море-океяне. Есть что дорабатывать, у вас всё получитца.
it is a dream of mine to secure a fractional ownership ( the dragonfly 40 is very expensive ) do you have a dealer in the Santa Barbara Ca area? lets make a deal!
The thought and detail in this boat is just unmatched
Great Job Peter!
I'm certain your pride in your Son is overflowing at this point.
Your son does such a SUPERB job on the walkthrough! Impressed by how much thought goes into your boats
Brilliant video! Great to see the business owner promoting his companies products. I’d love one!

Can't imagine how gorgeous it would be at 50, 64, or even 78 feet!
You've created a beautiful vessel. One that you and the owners will be proud of for years to come.
Exceptional engineering - A sailor’s sailboat! We’ll done!
Many boats start this way but companies quickly change hands. It's nice to see passionate builders and family involved.
Family owned since 1967 is good in my book.
Only one word describes the dragonfly: incredible! Attention to detail second to none. If I was given the opportunity to choose any cat or trimaran of any size and manufacturer; this is the boat I would choose
Great presentation very clear and detailed. also beautiful trimaran, is a piece of art.

the sailboat of my dreams, it's amazing with the design of it flows like the waves and the wind, a boat in full perfection.
Fantastic presentation. I love the lines of this tri, and all the details that clearly has been thought out. Well done.

I am in love - definitely my dream boat!😍
What a piece of sailing art.
Beautiful boat
What more does a man need than this
Great presentation, good to see the next generation equally as successful and able. Best wished to you all in the new year.
A piece of art. Congratulations to both of you
Very very impressed ,I'm very hard to please but this ticked all my boxes
Love to see something in the 50 to 60-foot range - a boat for the World ARC...
The trouble is you'll have to stop all the time to let the other boats catch up.
I'm heading to the shop right now to buy some lottery tickets. I love this boat!! 😍😍😍😍
Excellent presentation. Thankyou
Excellent design of the boat.
VERY GOOD VÍDEO. THANK YOU VERY MUCH !
Well done, amazing boat. Cheers!

Awesome boat and with great pedigree, no doubt about it. 👍 Those bows, ouch they look fast!
My dream boat. Presently building a 6.5m trailerable tri in foam and epoxy. Can’t wait to launch.
Thanks for this great and very informative video!

Man-O-Man! That is one work of art!
Thank you great looking boat.
Well done 🙌
Perfect presentation!
Outstanding tour! Thank you!
Really great lines. Would be an awesome boat to cruise the south pacific islands.
Super great tour! I would like to see the same kind of tour but in high wind conditions )) Beautyfull boat!

You can order the swing helm on the smaller sister Dragonfly 32.
Great Job! I
Magnificent boat!
Very good walk through.

Excellent job.
Awesome! Bravo! Let’s get one here in Oklahoma USA. We have the wind. 😀
This is what we call "Human Ingenuity" My compliments.
Amazing boat....absolute perfection...I wonder if one could circumnavigate this boat. I am sure it is easily doable.
It has been done. Source: ua-cam.com/video/V-17n52MtrU/v-deo.html
Very well build
Very fancy ❤
The best video I see
looks like the future of sailcraft, thank you
I will buy this boat later this year.
I’d want to sail on this nice tri 😊
Anywhere to stow a dinghy?
憧れのトリマランです♪☺️
Awesome 😎👍
It’s a well thought of boat I love it I can’t afford it not in a million year but it’s my dream boat as well

Should be. I know for certain smaller models have electric engines for berthing and harbour piloting.
Exceptional performance. Limited storage. A bit tight. OK for perhaps four people. Best for a couple.
Great presentation, very detailed and professionally done.

Always a hand's breadth of water under the keel.
The only thing I’d like to see changed?
The cockpit table legs. I’d like Bayonet fit rather than screw-in.
Luv the No hard corners on doors etc.❤❤❤
superb Craftsmanship !! what a WoW factor , credit to you and your team , but what is the cost of the basic 40 , cheers
If Quorning could move that forward bulkhead further aft, then there would be more standing room infront of the bed in the forward cabin. My thought exactly
Loved them the first time I seen one, I think it was a 28 or a 35, can you get them in the US?
Yes, check on yachtworld 👍👍
Or yachthub.com/list/yachts-for-sale/new/sailing-trimaran/dragonfly-40/227477

Beautiful boat...Question for you. Can it move on the water under engine power while the floats are floated in? Also can the the floats be folded in when it is docked in a slip? Thank You!
Yes , and yes, that's the whole purpose of the folding system so you can maneuver the boat in tight marinas
Is it a calendar to see wich boat shows you'll be at?
master peace
Very clever
Надеюсь в будущем у меня будет такой тримаран!
20:38 looks like the rope is going to cut that seat?
Да неплохо, хороший вариант при сложенных попловках , безопасная зона купания (особенно для детей) в море-океяне. Есть что дорабатывать, у вас всё получитца.
whomever is response for that transom jack of all trades is a genius.
WOW!
how much do these dragonfly 40 start at?
Do you plan to put dagger boards on the outriggers for the carbon version?
Really cool boat :) Should have a small window in the side of the head though to ventilate that. Otherwise people in the cockpit will get the smells.
it is a dream of mine to secure a fractional ownership ( the dragonfly 40 is very expensive ) do you have a dealer in the Santa Barbara Ca area? lets make a deal!
tremendo bote!
CE Category 8 is not offshore is it? Thats inshore
Where is the link that shows the rig and under sail?
좋아요
looking forward to the carbon sport -hopeful with an electric in border with the new upcoming Tesla battery cells.....
great design & speed for fun but price is pretty high ^^".... hopefully everyone can afford trimaran like this to enjoy life
❤️💯💯💯✅✅✅👍👍👍
How much 🇺🇸
How can a 40 foot boat look so small?
