“Sir, can you describe the snake that bit you?”
“It was an angry rope.”

The Silent Flute was slain by angry ribbon
A danger noodle!
A MURDER SPAGERDER
“... um, you probably won’t believe me, but I think it was my spaghetti!”
i thought, it was that darn garden hose.
Rattlesnakes are the most polite snakes. They're like, "SCUSE ME, just so you know I'm sitting here."
"don't tread on me mister"
Yeah, I'm way more comfortable in rattler country than I would be in areas with a lot of non-rattler venomous snakes. I've seen probably 10 or 15 rattlesnakes close by in my travels in the USA, and all of them made their presence known well before I got to them. We have copperheads where I live, and I'm regularly in cottonmouth territory, but they're not too scary to me. But like India or Australia? That's pretty creepy. A lot of those snakes are very deadly, aggressive, unafraid of people, and stealthy. I certainly wouldn't camp as much as I do here, haha!
what's especially cute (and useful) is that many other North American snake species have adopted tail shaking as a "hey, I'm here" warning. in the absence of a rattle, these snakes will hit their tails against the ground, leaf litter, or dry grass in order to make noise. for venomous snakes, this is just another threat display of "I can bite and it won't end well for you"; for non-venomous species like gopher snakes, this is a form of mimicry to trick predators into thinking that they're up against a more dangerous species.
@@LizzardGirl713 Almost every non-venomous snake, be it ratsnake, (especially) racer, kingsnake, even the lowly garter snake (or ribbon snakes or water snakes)- every damn snake I’ve ever had experience catching has exhibited this behavior at least once. It’s a pretty valuable defense: not only might I mistake it for a rattler and leave, but it helps spread their musk around, which will also result in them being put down (whether they bite me or not). I’m in the Appalachian USA, by the way, and you’re right. Where are you?
@@The_sinner_Jim_Whitney west coast, a bit north of San Francisco. most of my snake knowledge comes from teachers or books rather than personal experience, though - I'm much more comfortable catching lizards (and newts, and frogs) than snakes.
We in Australia don’t need to worry about these venomous vipers. Imagine how terrifying it would be if we had such dangerous animals roaming around.
I don't want to presume to tell aussies about their own snakes, but I'm pretty sure the majority of Australia's many deadly snakes are elapidae, relatives of cobras, mambas and seasnakes, so technically not vipers.
Lol

*”Keeled scales warns other preditors of their deadly venom”*
Hognoses: ”I’m gonna do what’s called a pro-gamer move”
For those that don't know: Hognose snakes are harmless colubrids. Though they are venomous, it is not medically relevant for humans (unless you are allergic, much like a bee sting). On top of that Hognoses are not known for defensive bites and even if they were to bite, they are rear fanged which makes injecting the venom a lot less efficient (rear fangs are enlarged teeth that are used to chew the venom into prey). Western Hognoses are relatively common in the pet trade.
For those that speak German: They are called Hakennasennattern (plural). Which I personally find is a hilarious name. Haken = hook, Nase = Nose, Natter = a group of snake species (includes corn snakes etc.)
If you want to learn more I recommend visiting either snake discovery or Clint's reptiles here on UA-cam.
Hognose is an adder like copperhead or puff adder, not viper like rattlesnakes or Russell's viper.
Was thinking the same thing, haha. Hognoses are so adorable though! I love how they have no neck and they're honestly so hilarious when they're angry.
Derek Bootle Hognoses are just nicknamed adders because they mimic the puff adder’s appearance. They aren’t related at all. Puff adders and copperheads are vipers, hognoses are colubrids

I was born in Poland and lived some of my life there. Throughout my childhood, I was always told to be aware of the viper. In Poland we have vipers and the non venomous snakes that we call ‘Zaskrońce’ (grass snakes) and they look quite alike so I was always told that the vipers have a zigzag on their back. I think I saw a viper when I was a child, not sure. I did however get bitten by a grass snake.
Bite the snake back. Make an example.
Oh right, one of them is using the pattern of the other to look dangerous. They are here as well, but endangered in the region. Probably because they look like the dangerous one. Which is ironic because in some places they are considered to bring luck and protect children and farm animals.
People shouldn’t neglect the bite caused by non-venomous snake, because it can carry some viruses like tetanus or hantavirus due to their eating preferences that include rodents.

Biting is not a snake's hobby. It is a defense mechanism. Snakes never attack on humans. If we disturb them, the way people are doing in this video, then only they attack to defend themselves.

Why not? They are fascinating with one of the most interesting and exciting species rediscovery stories in the animal kindgdom. Since at least before the the terrestrial dinosaurs became extinct.

Rattle snakes are the best. They sit in one place and when they get bored, they play their own music.😅
🤣🤣
Evolution is making rattlesnakes harder to detect. There is a tail defect in some that makes the rattle not work right, and so the rattlesnakes that make noise get killed off by people, while the silent ones pass unnoticed and live on to breed,
but then they get killed by bison stepping on them and predators that think they are gopher snakes

Hey, I love your content. Could you do instead of an animal, a topic for once?
I'd like to see how teeth adapted to specific needs.
Which animals can regrow teeth? (honorable mention to the buzzsawfish)
Why do cats have far less teeth than dogs?
Do bears have differen teeth based on their diet?
edi Just my theory, cats tend to lick their food off the bone with their rough tongue, and their teeth are used mainly to grab prey while hunting. Dogs use their teeth to tear chunks off their food and to grab prey. So I feel they need more slicing teeth to cut flesh so they can eat...but is still like Danielle to tell us the real reason.
edi awesome. I want a video on the most violent mating rituals
