    I come from the world of ZBrush and had been depending on KeyShot for all my final renderings.
    I am not too certain of KeyShots partnership in future with ZB as we now entering into/under MAXON's influence.

    I'd recommend actually rendering out the animation at full res so we can see the final result! But fascinating what you can do with MG. Can you output HDR content with Keyshot? Is it just more bit-depth?

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  5 років тому +1

      Hi Kevin. Funny enough, it's rendered out at 1920x1080, but my UA-cam videos are recorded at 2560x1440 and I honestly didn't have time render this out at such a high resolution. I'll keep this in mind for future examples though. As far as HDR... sort of. You can render out a sequence of images as .exr files which will support 32 point float, and how you process them and encode that file is up to you. You'd need to use something like premiere pro or after effects, but it should be possible. Good question. I've never tried creating HDR content since I don't have any device that can display or play HDR content.

    • @WillGibbons

      Unfortunately, not. You'd have to apply a video texture to it with an animated gradient, but it can't be done in KeyShot alone.

    Omg I love your tutorials, thank you so much for making them! I had a question about this - if I wanted to animate lights in the environment (I'm making a memorial animation for Dias de los Muertos, so a dark lit scene with framed images of lost loved ones). For the lighting animations, I'd just use a colorfade utility as well like what you did with the point light?

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  3 роки тому +1

      Yes. You'll need to use physical lights (so like an area light). You can also use a curve fade utility node. Just to fade from 0 to what ever number you want the light's brightness to be.

    Wow, very new tricks learnt today. But what does opacity does. When you plug opacity black goes off. If I were you, I would go to PS and edit it there.

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  5 років тому +1

      It would not work. You can’t change the color of hundreds of video frames in photoshop. Try it yourself. Even with a perfect black background around the flame, it doesn’t work in opacity mode. I suggest you try and see what I mean.

    Hey Will! Should I increase the config for mi video animation from 8 frames/second to a higher number? My video preview is choppy as hell.

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  4 роки тому

      Hmm. You mean the final rendering or just the 'preview'. Preview is meant to be an approximation and a quick visual. The FPS above the timeline dictate the frame rate (smoothness) of the final animation. 24-30 is sufficient.

    Hey awesome videos here keep it up, im just starting using the program and you've been really helpful! Im using KS 9.1 and when i import the file into it the candle appears black and ive tried few things to change it and make it look like yours but im guessing its the file type version?

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  4 роки тому +1

      That's interesting. It might be the default material type applied for the model type. Perhaps KS updated something on their importer since I posted this tutorial? What happens if you drag a new white plastic material from the KS library onto the candle. Does it fix the black issue?

In my case, I am always getting about 30 frames, for the 15 sec video...So the animation of the flame looks so weird. In your case, you got about 345 frames for the flame video when you uploaded it over the emmisive plane. So, is there a way to change the number of frames for the video?

    How can I make a PNG file with transparent background and also With transparency on the cloudy material. I want the cloudy material to be semi transparent on the PNG file. I try to do it and I failed every time. thanks

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  4 роки тому

      Hmm. I'd use a black and white map for opacity, NOT transparent PNG. So you can use a grayscale image for your opacity map, black will be invisible, white will be visible and every shade in between will be semi-transparent. Plug this texture into the cloudiness of your cloudy plastic and the darker areas of the texture will make the cloudy plastic more transparent. The whiter areas of the texture will make the cloudy plastic more opaque. You could use this texture for opacity and it will make parts of the cloudy plastic disappear, but will not affect cloudiness.
