I don't own a Hybrid Gel Grip or Hybrid Milky, but I did notice that my Uniball Signo performs a lot better than my Sakura Gelly Roll does. Thanks for the testing!
In my experience, signo is more opaque but clogs up faster/easier. While the gelly roll writes smoother but is less opaque 🤔 i just ended up using both of them but for different situations
Bonus test of three black writing surfaces. Ink gave the best contrast with all four pens. Black paper did almost as well. Only one pen gave a really solid line on marker, though another came close. The railroading is a cool effect if contrast for reading isn't a concern.
This explains so much. I have the first two pens and as an artist I’ve really struggled getting the ink to come out consistently when I try adding highlights and such to my marker drawings. Now I see that they did great on your black paper and ink, but not so much on marker. I’ll have to try one of those Hybrid pens now!
That was helpful! Now...a questions comes up about lightfastness of the white ink (whites can dull due to brighteners fading from UV light.) A lot of watercolorists use Gelly Pens to add white accents. Can you get some lightfastness info on these pens? It would be great! (PS thanks for the videos, love them.)
The Uniball Signo broad is the most opaque and brighter, but in my experience doesn't flow well and dries up much quicker, Sakura gelly roll is the best, though not as opaque and bright, is still great flows smoothly, and I have some that are few years old and still runs nice.💟
I tried both the Signo and the Gelly roll on coloured pencil, and the Gelly roll is much brighter! Idk why but the Signo kinda absorbed the colour and doesn't really look white
Gelly Roll may not be the brightest white, but it has yet to dry up on me in between uses. The Signo dried up almost immediately after the first use. Biggest disappointment.
does anyone know why the ink pools to the side in the first two while used on marker? such a cool effect either way but still wanna know why/how it happens :D
It’s probably because yk how there’s a ball that rolls to dispense the ink? I think when you press too hard with gel pens the ink can’t reach the middle of the line because the ball is blocking it :D i think
@@cameronleerodriguez well maybe it’s coincidence, or the marker makes the pen write differently (which is probably the case) idk im just a stationary nerd, jetpens probably knows more
I have the sakura gelly roll pens and use them mainly for highlights and sometimes I prefer that it goes on so lightly because it helps me control how marked/bright I want the highlight and that way some stand out more than others. Sometimes I do wish it worked better though so i could use it for other stuff, so thank you for the side by side comparisons!!
I have always loved the Unibal Sigmo but it has changed, my pens dry up so quickly now, they never used to, and I use them with the same consistency as ever.
Can you try this on top of watercolor (after it has dried)? It seems like Pentel hybrid gel Grip DX works better on this testing. Pls try it on watercolor. Thx
Im in 7th grade and i use them :p THEY ARE SO GOOD THAT KIDS IN MY CLASS KEPT ASKING ME TO LET THEM BORROW them lol. Overall good review and i thought i was the only one who uses them

I like the third one a lot!

You also have to take the tip size into account. A larger tip will write more smoothly and deposit more ink than a fine one.

@@burnt_chxcken5634 but why did it only show that effect on the marker one?

but now that i think about it, maybe it is just coincidence;-;

Looks like the Pentel Hybrid Gel grip is it!

F the gellu roll. It never worked when i needed it too. Plus it took forever to dry.
I have a few of those white pens and writing on black paper has been a challenge.
What's the right side? Black paper? Or black ink painted on paper?
Great but what about Zebra Sarasa clip milky white gel pen?
So write with any pen you want but write on ink😂
all white pens over the ink line, looks the best on my likes
Keep only the good ones

Overall good review and i thought i was the only one who uses them
Pentel has really consistent results over all three, 🤔
3rd gel pen team

TL;DR: use a fine point acrylic marker.
