What a beauty ... In considering buying it 2nd hand from Commencal for 3500 eur which I think is a really nice price same guarantee as a new bike and they did maintenance
Ya, that plastic piece was a mud shield for the pulley. Commencal discontinued using it. I've actually taken mine off. I could get a DH-specific rear cassette, but I'm absolutely loving the single speed--no shifter, no derailleur.
Hey man , do you think size small will fit with 175cm? I think the medium is too long with 456 reach but i dont know about the 435/430 on the small. I have relatively short arms so . Thanks
I'm 171cm and it fits me just fine. I think my stem is 40mm and my bars have have a sweep of 12 degrees. You probably could go either way on the small vs medium. Do you like a point-and-shoot stable bike? Or something with a bit more playfulness? This bike is a pretty capable DH bike known to eat through rough sections. My guess is you can aim for the shorter size (and use cockpit settings to dial things in).
@@IDoBluesthank you for the fast response. I like to race and have fun and I think that a 50 mm will be the best . Have you measured the rad of the Supreme yet? I know my rad and it would help to be like a starting point from considering the bike (No need to measure if you hadnt done it yet)
I guess it's all relative. It's fine for my style of riding. Tight corners felt good (for a DH bike,) but keep in mind, I chose a small instead of a medium (I like a reach of 435....some guys my height--171cm--choose 450 or 460). I'm not a big jumper, so I wouldn't be the best to comment on that, but for me, on the blue Whistler jump lines, it felt great. I really like how stable the bike feels overall and loved how it chews up bumps on the fast bermy lines. On chunky technical sections, it's a beast (in a good way).
Building my supreme v5 at the moment and I am 5’11”guessing that the medium is probably the best option for my height? I am wanting a mid level of playfulness while also having some stability like a 50/50 or 60/40 or would you think that might fit that mold I am also extremely picky about my builds and was not going to hesitate on the medium level with no second guessing myself until hearing frame size and full gear weight of some other riders compared with small to even large which not sure if I can do that to my bag but had considered a small with a 200 or 205 dropper and had planned on öhlins as well but for front and rear and know exactly what you said regarding set up because just figuring out spring weight was ridiculously difficult second guessing myself when thinking the 480 with 30% but then again heard guys being told they need to be in the 500’s around my height and full gear weight just thinking it might be a bit more quick and can see me flying head over with that stiff in the chunk or over gnar roots. I at one point even started talking myself out of the bike because of strictly wanting to get on a bike first and try it since I am used to the enduro , dirt jumper , bmx and hard tail and will be first DH and first build also first spring which seems to be a lot more difficult to setup and truly dial in than the shock counterpart unless I am just overthinking it too my by doing too much research and lastly at the $90 mark for spring I may just get two and take it into the showroom since I am in Colorado and have one 2 hours from my cabin

Nice build and great rundown. Keep it up!
Thanks. I appreciate that.
Really sick no nonsense build. I like it. Other than brake and contact points, I would build one exactly the same

Love the single speed setup.
Me too! I'm surprised more people don't go that way on DH bikes.
@@IDoBlues I agree, suprising its not more popular. I want to get a Devinci Chainsaw for park use and single speed it like you did.
The black piece at the top of the rear triangle is an upper pulley wheel guard? You could go with a DH specific rear cassette.
Sweet setup!!

Does the frame crack like the supreme v4?
...like the V4. Not that I've heard of.
stunning! Is it true that in order to adjust the rebound on the shock you have to get it off from the frame?
Thanks. The rebound adjuster is on the bottom. On this frame, I can reach it without taking the shock off. On my Forbidden, I do need to take it off.
Those Tairin hubs look really interesting. Would prefer a bit higher engagement though for enduro.
I think he can build them out to have six degrees of engagement as well.
What rear shock sag are you running? Is it the same as the previous generation frames at 20%?
I think I'm pushing 30%.
does the chain rattle a lot or no
Doesn't rattle in the slightest. The single speed chain tensioner does its job well.
@@IDoBlues ok thats good in a fiew years ill get bc im young maybe there will be better and quieter version

@@mark.shlr06 I didn't measure the RAD on this one. I knew I needed a small. Felt instantly good on first ride (no need to muck around).
Hi! I'm thinking about buying a v5, how does is it feel on tighter corners? And is it less agile in the air because of the length?

Nice build. How tall are you?
Just under 5'8. 171cm

Sorry...missed this. Ya, I think the medium is probably the way to go.
What is your height?
I'm just over 5'7. ...approx 171cm.
no dropper
DH bike...no need for a dropper.
Doubt one climbs much with this set up. Well, maybe on the lift at the BP😊
