    Short and informative, thanks. I measured my arm span 188mm and wrist backsweep angle 17,7°, so I choose SQlab 30X Handlebar 780mm, 16°backsweap angle. 👍

      I LOVE the SQLab 30X!!!! I run them on all my bikes. I use the 12 degree back sweep and really noticed the difference moving to that from an 8 degree bar previously. Let me know how the 16 works out for you. I go with the highest rise possible (I think 45mm? I'd need to look...I'm very downhill focused).

      Ya, it's really swell dependant, and you have to only hit suitable paddle surf spots. But if you respect the surfers by staying clear, it has a great vibe. But as with most places, conditions matter. This time, I got pretty lucky with a 3-day swell that was good, but not too big (for an intermediate).

      I once had a surfer drop in on me and fin my brand new custom shortboard. Kooks are kooks. We all have stories. But after peeling off the weeds, I actually agree with your underlying message here. If you're with a paddle stay far on the shoulder or find your own peak.

    San Onofre is pronounced with long "O" sounds since all the areas' names are from Spanish. Hope that helps. Also, be careful in O'side, the prone surfers get pretty aggressive toward SUP'ers even when you let the sets go by and try to stay away from the crowd. I've been back paddled by people, then yelled at by them. Just be aware and be cool.

    Although this video is a bit old, can anyone shed some light on this for me? I'm 184cm tall, with a 89cm inseam and 194cm wingspan. In other words... long legs and long arms. I currently ride a Trek Top Fuel size L. However, when I bought the bike, it felt a bit small and I didn't have much control over the bike's steering. I put on a 70mm stem and was finally able to ride although with the 70mm stem I feel like I don't have full control over the steering. I usually ride on very technical trails with lots of roots, rocks, drops and some jumps. I'm thinking about getting a Trek Slash size L. The Slash has a reach of 486cm and stack of 635. I measured my RAD and I'm not sure if I have 860 (measured with my hands down) or 890 (measured using a handlebar) and my ideal reach would be 184*2.55 = 469mm. With my Top Fuel L + 70mm stem + 3 spacers (10mm each), the bike's RAD is 870 (very close to my RAD 860 or 890) and the real reach is 495mm. The Slash XL has a reach of 516mm and a stack of 658mm. I believe that with this measurement, the RAD should be around 880/890. However, its the reach of 516mm is WAY outside the my "ideal" (469mm). Should I buy the Slash in size L or XL? Thanks

    • @IDoBlues
      @IDoBlues Місяць тому

      Looking at your height and the reach numbers of the L and XL Slash, my guess is the L would be the better fit for you.

    • @Diegutpf
      @Diegutpf Місяць тому

      @@IDoBlues At first I thought the same thing... "I'll buy a Lash L with 486 reach". However, since my Top Fuel L has 475 reach and it's too short for me, I considered the possibility of getting the Slash XL (516 reach). If I add the 475 (TF L) + 50mm stem (original) = 525mm reach (short). If I add the 486 (Slash L) + 35mm stem (original) = 521mm reach. In this case, the Slash L is even shorter than the Top Fuel. Although there is a difference in their stack (608mm TF and 635mm slash) considering the L size on both bikes. Now taking into consideration my Top Fuel L with a 70mm stem and the Slash XL with a 35mm stem, it would be as follows: TF L 475mm + 70mm stem = 545mm reach Slash XL 516mm + 35mm stem = 551mm reach That's 6mm more than my current setup and it only doesn't work better because of the long stem. I can get the Slash L and put a larger stem (50mm) or change the height of the handlebars (40 or 50mm rise). However, I believe that the 50mm stem will take away some of the stability when steering. I would like to have a stem of 35 or 40mm at most. Oh, what a cruel doubt! LOL

      March 2024. The other popular breaks in the area aren't great for SUP. El Sunzal can work for SUP, but is much more crowded. Thanks, I figured out the part I was missing. All the other videos say to use 2.5 not 2.55 that I saw, but now I can just estimate the actual rad buy a calculation of the square root of reach squared plus frame stacked squared! Tells me what is in the ball park! Also for handlebar width, go to a table and shove your armpit into it and lay your arm/hand straight on the table. Mark your where your longest finger lands. The measure from the end of the table where your armpit to the mark on the table. This is the only reliable method I have found to measure your arm/hand length. I am 5 ‘ 10” with a 29” inseam and a long torso. My measurement came to 760 in my method and your method gave a min of 746.76 and a max of 782.32 so the alternate method could have some merit and is based on just arm length. I curious what arm length actually is and your preferred width to see how close the alternate method is. Thanks!

    Making a lighter hub is much easier when you rule out points of engagement, just for reference. Not comparing hub to hub, just the silent feature vs weight.

    Seth is girl sized tho. Like i'm 163cm and he's about that same height. This is why i take his advice. Also i was at region's largest bicycle store recently, absolutely gargantuan, and WTF THERE IS LITERALLY NOT A SINGLE BIKE I FEEL COMFORTABLE ON WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED SINCE THE 90S, DO YOU LOT THINK SHORTER WOMEN JUST DISAPPEARED OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH WHAT THE HELL! What am i supposed to ride a fixie child bike? Also how did they get so damn heavy, bloody hell, i don't need a suspension fork, i don't need disc brakes, like how do you even build an alu bike that i can't even lift, why. I can carry a 90s steel bike EASILY. No i'm not speaking electric, i don't have money for that, i can pedal.

      Ya, but he didn't shrink but recently sized down. You don't need a suspension fork? That's not really mountain biking....what I'm talking about here probably doesn't apply to what you are looking for.

    Went for the first time last week with a buddy that goes a few times a year. Spent some good time on crank it up and c-more. Definitely made some progress in berms and jumping. It was an epic day! Thanks for the video. Keep it up dude!
