Heil Sound microphones are awesome! Please note a correction: I mistakingly mentioned the PR30 is a condenser mic - it is not - it is dynamic just like the rest of the mics. The sound coming from the PR30 and the other mics in this shootout really impressed me! I'll be breaking down this mics in further detail soon on my channel so make sure to subscribe :) mrc.fm/youtube
Love my PR-30B,(2)PR-20's,Goldline PRO, & HEIL iCM. If it's a HEIL it's QUALITY. He backs what he sells & builds. How many other companies can you call & actually speak with the OWNER about their products? NONE & that says a lot about HEIL Sound & Bob Heil.
Don't let Bob Heil hear you call the PR30 a condenser, I don't think he would be too happy, it's very much a dynamic, as are all Heil mics. In this particular shootout, your voice is best suited to the PR40. I used one for years and can highly recommend.
You are absolutely correct, Martin. Thank you for pointing that out about the PR30. I'm going to pin a correction to the top of the comments. I understand Bob is not a big fan of condenser mics and apologies for using the 'c' word in this video. Thanks for picking it up :)
Mike Russell no worries, sorry to pick up on that. Microphones are one of my favourite subjects as they are all so different, hence i had an immediate interest to click on your video. Thanks so much for the great videos, please keep them coming, I'm learning so much, every time I watch your videos another penny seems to drop as things click in place in my mind.
All your testing sound really great Mike. Very impressive. I'll try and get 77D since it picked up the least amount of noise. Fantastic! Thank you for such an amazing video. Once again, all the way from Majuro Marshall Islands. Have a great weekend!
Genuinely appreciate this 5 minute review that is smart, entertaining and well produced. Too many narcissistic nitwits taking 15, 20, sometimes 25 minutes of screen time to prattle on, endlessly, making the review about themselves, not the item. Thanks, mate.
The PR 77D looks exciting -- thanks for being early to introduce it to us. If you've tried it on a desk stand, how sensitive is it to vibrations of hands or objects moving around near it on the desk? Does the yoke, or the mic design itself, have any kind of shock-mount effect?
I have (2) HEIL PR-20,(1) HEIL FIN,(1) HEIL GOLD LINE,(1) HEIL GOLD ELITE, & (1) HEIL iCM.I use some for performing and some for Amateur Radio.I would love having a HEIL 77D but it may be a while.
Hmm.....breath " plosives" were more notable on the PR 30. I like how they all sounded. But my heart is set on the 77 for looks AND performance for my particular application.
Johnhitbox I've tried a lot of mics over the years to find the right one, the sm7b and pr40 although both great didn't quite suit my voice. The re320 is an amazing mic to consider, I'm yet to find a voice it doesn't make sound great out of the box although now I use its big brother the an re20 which is by far the best match for my voice that i have found to date.

Looks absolutely amazing!
PR30...love it
Great!
The 40 sounds the best in IMO.
The 40 is clean and potent....the 30 and 77 don't sound quite as good.
no side talk test???? Ah...this was shot before COVID!!!
Happy days back then
Re20, shure sb7b or the hiel PR40. a few years ago i sold my pr40 for a sm7b. i have yet to try the RE20 but its also a broadcast standard.

Interesting note to you. Sirius radio just purchased 325 PR 40 due to its performance. Sorry RE
@@bobheil2496 I did not like the RE. Didn't they redesign it, Bob? I love the PR 40. Does the PR 77D use the same element?
Please... kill that stupid background music
