You are a blessing to beginners. Thanks so much for explaining art, paints, medium, etc. You made my day. I will follow you on You Tube from now on. You are concerned about people learning and enjoying art. Most other tutorials are not gifted with teaching like you are. Thanks so much. I'm gonna be a professional someday if God is willing.
The way in which I describe how to combine sky color with ur greens to create atmosphere and I think (perspective) is so easy to understand-I’m starting a painting and I’m going to use this!!! Ty ty ty❤️
This video is the best video I have ever watched to give a better understanding of painting I have came away with the best instructional understanding of art. Thank you so much for this video.
Due to asthma l have never been able to learn with oils.To finally find your tutorial only on acrylic is a Godsend. Thank you for your easy and simple way to paint.
I have learn't so much watching your video's. I started with watercolour, but after looking at your videos , I am now hooked on acrylics and have gained a lot more confidence. Thank you so much from the UK.
Thank you Ian. Love watching you and have learnt heaps with your basic tutorials. I have been painting along with you for about 6 mths now but hadn't watched the understanding beginners series, explained a lot. I'm watching from Cobram Victoria
Visit Hatteras Island, North Carolina. Famous for the lighthouse. There 4 lighthouses with in approximately 100 miles. Just here in about 50 miles is Cape Hatteras lighthouse, Ocracoke lighthouse, and Bodie Island lighthouse.
Ian, you are a treasure! Thank you for this wonderful, informative video! This has information for ALL levels...I would love to meet you when you come to America...hopefully, your journey will take you to Northern California...Looking forward to your next post...Cheers..Suki😊😊🎨🎨
Loved this tutorial ian got my first young pupil today whose not a grandchild so will recommend him to you. Hope you can come to England one day. We live just by leeds and Bradford airport so you're welcome any time. Have cousins in Perth but too old now to visit them. Thank you for inspiring me to paint 😄
I'm a beginner so glad I found you great teacher! Fun to watch and you rock! Love Steve! Both of you are so entertaining. Keep the videos coming, please!
Thank you for sharing this with us Ian, your a wonderful Artist/ teacher and so easy to listen to. I love all your videos , and your so informative, keep them coming please ........... love Steve your cat !!!
Thank you for such a good video! I have learned so much in such a short time from listening to you! So easy to follow your instructions. I am working on my very first painting. My family is so impressed
Thank you Ian. I have watched all your videos. Greatings from Schleswgi- Holstein , the Country Side between Nord - and Ostsee, in Germany. Good Luck in America!
Ian I really like your artwork but I have a serious question. Why the purple mittal gloves. Dont they inhibit the tactile feeling of the total experience. They make a product called the invisible glove that's been on the market several decades now. I used it before. Now I just wash up good but I have never done the surgical glove thing.
Ok question again. Why the use of the cheaper poster board white mixed with the retarder. I'm just concerned about it being low quality that can flake off. I get the retarder thing of course so you can do wet and wet painting. I am just thirty five days acrylic painting so eight months watercolor before that and a year digital. So far local buying is all I have. No internet buying yet. Since I am new painter I want hands on at least until I get things figured out more. I made my own brushes and tools that people love. I am using some of my watercolor synthetic brushes for acrylic. The brush thing I saw a escoda one inch flat and got price sticker shock at eighty usd. I know there are hundreds of brands and I want good quality. I watch so many UA-cam's. I really like yours. There are many . I really like a brush synthetic called princeton catalyst. Thank you for all your help. Is there some way I can send you a link to comment on a painting. I do not know anyone to ask for guidance or reviews
the craft white i use is artist quality. you can get student quality and also it is cheaper than good tube paint. i word it as i do in my videos but at the same time getting the point across to beginners, as they mature they can go there own way and not need my input as much. i have painted this way for years and looking back on my early work they are not flaking but i get what you are meaning. you can join my art group on FB to show your work link below video
Hi Ian. I've stumbled across some difficulty here in Bulgaria. Whrerver I asked for paint thinner, they say they don't do it. I was shocked, thought everybody is using that. It took me a huge research to find a colour thinner - water or acetone based (don't know the difference), pouring medium which I don't know if its the same. Which one is alright? And I also found an actual retarder which was 3.50€ for 200ml. So I'm confused... Which one should I buy?..... Also, do you clean your brushes in thinner or pure water? I saw some artist who used something else other than water. Thanks.
No entiendo inglés y me da una gran pena porque me encanta como enseña a los principiantes, pero no puedo entender lo que dice, me siento frustrada. Es usted estupendo
Hi, I just started to learning how to paint and i like your videos, you are very good teacher, but i have a question to you, I see you spraying the canvas when you are painting and i like to know if you use just water or if you use the wetting agent. Thank you very much
I understanding the brush have to be soft for blending but dry or wet?and do blend on wet painting or dry with wet brush? I like yours painting Thank you from Edmonton Canada
the brush needs to be dry and blend on wet paint, always wipe your brush as you are blending to take away the build up of paint because as you blend your brush will pick up paint ant you need to keep wiping that off as you blend
Is it important to gesso the canvas, right now I am getting cheap canvas. If we get better and buy good canvas should we even gesso that also. Thanks so much.
if the canvas you get are gesso primed weather they are cheap or dear you can paint on them straight away BUT if you want to blend the way i do then you need to prep the canvas "gessoed or not" the way i do for my blending style (clouds/sky/water)
Thanks Ian, this is a very interesting programme. I moved to acrylic two years ago after years of mediocre waterolour and have watched many different instructors, some good others I`m not sure. Your strong point is that you are not trying to sell your own brand of paint and brushes. Have you gone further with Mont Marte paints? I want to know what you think of them. I live in Brisbane, often when I go to buy paint the price has gone up, so I am always trying to save money.
