Great video. Thank you! I bought a nitro mesh kit a couple years ago. Well worth it for practice, with EZ Drummer 3. You have unlimited sets pretty much. A real drum set doesn't compare. But you can play any time on the little electronic kits.

@@Pietro.Valente it's fairly easy to see the evolution of the drumset, but I'm more interested in the playing of it, and I don't see any source confirming people actually played drums like in this video (about 1865 and 1890, because there aren't drums recordings)

You're comparing apples to oranges. In reality, it would be more appropriate to compare jazz drumming from the past to jazz drumming now, or metal drumming of the past to metal drumming now. You would see these styles have changed a lot. More toward complexity! Even rhythmically complex electronic dance styles like jungle are more complex today. And simpler styles like house music are also more experimental in rhythm nowadays
Reggaeton beat is pretty simple but I've seen some videos of live drummer doing some pretty creative stuff to the songs adding influences of different Latin drumming genres/Afro Cuban styles into it. Also where's the trap/mumble rap drumming with all the rolling/triplet hi-hats? 😂😂
@@Pietro.Valente I don't think it's sad, it's diversity. Today there's music for everyone, every mood or expression. It just keeps changing, evolving, not for better or worse
