Billly and Marilyn were part of the hit group The Fifth Dimension. They've been married since 1969, still together and still performing.
Still look great too
Sadly, they never had another hit song.
Thank YOU for that info❤
Marilyn Mcoo and Billy Davis Jr met and married when they were part of the supergroup the 5th Dimension. They been married for 53 years, God bless them!
This song is by the husband & wife duo who used to be in the group The 5th Dimension. They were married in 1969 & are still together. They had a great solo career together & this song was a big hit for them. Love their voices together. "Your Love" was another hit for them in 1977.
Dagmar S. - you have just made my day! So happy to hear they are still together ♥
I just saw Marilyn McCoo on PBS recently and she hasn't changed much. Still gorgeous...
Marilyn McCoo was one of the prettiest women in pop
Yes their married met in the 5th Dimension. Marilyn McCoo is one of the greatest singers ever, also her husband is a very good singer. Loved this song now, still do. I believe they recently did a cover of Beatle songs. I need to check that out. The 5th Dimension had many good songs.
This song rose #1 on both the Hot 100 and the R & B charts back in 1976 for Marilyn and Billy. Their friend Donny Gerrard just passed of cancer a few days ago. Shawn and Mel could you please react to "Wildflower" by Skylark. It is largely considered to be the first/or the beginning of the power ballad. Donny sang the lead on the song from 1972. Which was super producer David Foster's first outing. It's a beautiful song, totally iconic.
Happily married for some 50 years, you can tell they were made for each other, just the way they react to each other, they and this song is one of my all-time favorites, ENJOY,, Papa Ray !!!
This was the only big hit Billy & Marilyn had on their own but they had a whole bunch of hits when they were in the 5th Dimension. I recommend "Wedding Bell Blues" in which Marilyn sings it to Billy. It was first written and recorded by a 19 year old Laura Nyro in 1966 but the 5D made it their own a few years later in 1969. They have one of the longest lasting marriages in all of show business.
Married over 50 years. That's Love. 2-7-2022
I don't care what anybody says ... You just can't beat the old school music. PERIOD !
Well... it's still your opinion. A VERY PERSONAL OPINION
You got it!
@@jesusneyrachavez1398 well I agree with him 💯
@@jesusneyrachavez1398, truth is not an opinion!
@@leeeastwood6368 Even Jesus Christ did not know how to answer Pilate when he asked him WHAT IS THE TRUTH...
They've always been pure magic together.
Marilyn is such a beautiful woman...I remember this song getting a lot of play time on the radio.
Have you EVER heard such gorgeous music by two that show their love so beautifully!!!! One of my all time favorites! ❤❤❤
Yes they are a married couple originally from the 5th Dimension. Another great song when they were in the 5th Dimension was 'Wedding Bell Blues'' where Marylin MCcoo was singing this to him. Try the live version with the 5th Dimension.....great performance!
These guys are still together and happily married for over 50 years.
They can sang.
So lovely! 💕 In the 60's and 70's we had so many variety shows and specials where we could see pop and soul stars perform live. It was like having Grammy Award quality productions to watch every week. Such a great time to be alive!
When I first saw the Fifth Dimension on TV back in 1967, I was 9 years old, and had me a big crush on the beautiful Marilyn McCoo. She was not only physically beautiful but has such a great voice.
Playing this song brings back memories of the 60's-80's couple Ashford and Simpson singing "Solid as a Rock" or "Is it Still Good to You" or Peaches and Herb singing "Reunited" (the live version)
They are amazing. I love the genuine energy they give off. Check out their song I Hope We Get to Love in Time. They got married in the 1960s and have been married more than 50 years.
She's as beautiful today as she was then.
Still performing together as well. Looking forward to seeing them in Palm Desert, California on the 5th of March.
This married couple was part of the great group The Fifth Dimension and I believe that is where they met! This song was a huge hit. They were married in 1969 and are still married today. They had their own TV show in the 1970s and Marilyn went on to host the musical show, Solid Gold.
These are really two singing pros ! Her voice is great ! Play One Last Bell !
One Less Bell to Answer
awesome reaction they will be married 53 yrs. in July 2022 I feel the same way about my honey 43 yrs and still going strong. love this song.
When I hear these type of songs , I think the Words fit you two perfectly !
You will not hear beautiful lyrics like this in today's music.
You see the way they are looking at each other. No words necessary. And Mr. Billie is one fortunate man. That's about all I can say.
Except; Y'all be safe!
Marilyn is so beautiful.
Marilyn McCoo and Freda Payne were goddesses of the 70s
Marilyn and Billy very nice couple and a very good song too.
Married 53 years,just beautiful
Such a lovely couple. They have been married FOREVER and still love each other so much. I saw them perform a few years back in Boston and what an amazing couple they are, both on and off the stage.
From the group 5th dimension, they have been married for 52 years, still performing together with a new album just out ❤️❤️
Marilyn McCoo is married to fellow 5th Dimension bandmate Billy Davis Jr. On July 26, 2022, they will celebrate their 53rd wedding anniversary. The couple shared their story of love and faith in the 2004 book, Up, Up and Away. They continue to perform together in venues around the country. McCoo is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho sorority. She is an emerita member of the board of directors of the Los Angeles Mission. McCoo and Davis are born-again Christian
I went to see them and we went backstage after the concert. They were so sweet.
They have been married for 52 years now, since 1969 . They were originally the lead singers of the 5th Dimension .. They received a grammy for this song in 1976 (their 7th) & are still the only Black Couple to have their own television show in 1977 .. They just recently this past year released an album "McCartney Lennon ICON - Blackbird" .. listen to it , it's really really good ..
I got to see them about 7 years ago in Los Angles off Sunset. Took my daughter and her friends that were in thier early and mid 20's. They were blown away and so was I. Marilyn was in her 70's and she looked in her 30's. They are phenomenal!
Not only married but recently celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary (50 yrs.).
Great song!! Any time Marilyn McCoo is singing it’s sweet music to my ears
They were and still are married. In my opinion Marilyn Mccoo had one of the best female voices of her time.
Love THEM!! Great song!!!! Thank you! One of my favorite duos from that era is Diana Ross & Eddie Kendricks( was it booked as The Supremes & The Temptations?) "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me". You will NOT regret it!🤩
They are a very talented couple and the group The 5th Dimension was as well. Really apppreciate them both as you see how much love they have for music and for each other!
I really enjoyed their music back in the day. It was so wonderful to hear them again. I really like what you said Shawn about how this is a song that couples can learn from and aspire to. That was really well said and beautiful. I think that is one reason I love this old music so much. It expresses the emotions of tenderness and love so deeply. There is nothing superficial about it. It's honest. Have a great day!
Great. You two have that chemistry. Yes, they are married then and today. You guys must do her "One Less Bell to Answer. She is gi.
Songs with passion and emotion wonderful..
My mom loved Marilyn McCoo's voice. She always had The Fifth Dimension playing in the house. Listen/react to Age of Aquarius and Wedding Bell Blues....such good songs...such a great group!! 💜
A childhood favorite. They are alive and well, still performing.
This old man looked at Marilyn, as a little boy, and fell in love. There is a whole generation of men who had crush on her. I admit it!
Another blast from childhood. Definitely go down the 5th Dimension rabbit hole.
Loved their music together for decades. They're 55 years married this year too...love it 🎤🎶😊
Love... this...song. I'm glad you guys get to hear songs you might not have had an opportunity to hear otherwise.
They were married then and they’re still married today. They’ve been married for over half a century. Congratulations on their longevity.
They had been part of the group the Fifth Dimension. "Star" was a huge hit.
Yes they're a married couple, for 53 years and still together!
They're 2 of 5 singer's from the group The 5th Dimension! If you haven't yet you must do AQUARIUS/LET THE SUNSHINE IN. It's a hit!!!
Marilyn also used to host a music show called Solid Gold in the 70s
They fell in love while singing in their group as “ The Fifth Dimension. “ Marilyn laid her head on Bill’s shoulder while riding in the limo after a performance, the rest is their history together. One of their song’s the group sang was Marilyn singing to Bill, the song was called: “ Bill “ a great song! 💙♥️
More great 70's R&B! Thanks, dynamic duo!
Beautiful song, beautiful words.
I just saw them on the ever classic LOVE BOAT show. Yes, I’m showing my age 😮!! This was probably their only single that was popular, BUT, they were a part of The Fifth Dimension, who were HUGELY popular. Great voices, great songs. Sure do miss those days. I’m happy you loved them, as much as I always did. Listen to the 5th Dimension!!
Remember hearing this when i was a kid back in the 70s and 80s still love it
This music still holds it own after all these years.
I Hope We Get To Love In Time is my fave of theirs. Your Love and I Believe In You and Me as well.
omg love this song !!! 🔥🔥
YES, they are married & STILL married.
Wow! I haven't heard this in years, it brings back so many memories!
They have been married for 50 yrs and still going strong.
Couples with that sweetness is a great quality. God alone does that
Shawn and Mel after a long of caring for my 94 year mother in law across the street my wife Iris and I relax and enjoy the music.
I absolutely love this song 🥰
You guys are my new favorite reaction channel. I love your vibe and your chemistry
I never get tired of hearing this! Such a feel good song!
Total class act....theres real talent....
I use to see them on all the variety shows in the 60s and 70s. 💘
Love this song from my childhood. Currently working w/ a sample from this song in a Deep House song i'm working on. Pure magic between these 2!
Beautiful couple - (obviously). And I love how they had no issue with the radiant Marilyn being a little Taller than her man.
Still together and still in love !! Like I am with her ! What a voice oh yea him also 😀
The song Wedding Bell Blues by the 5th Dimension was Marilyn singing to Billy Davis jr trying to get him to propose!
She’s such a pretty lady. I think I said that on another channel. She is though. Even at an older age.
Married & part of the 5th Dimension
❤️❤️
This was the #1 song of 1977!
Marilyn McCoo is so beautiful. I'm getting all hot and bothered again. LOL I was a kid at 5 years old when I fell in love with her.
R & J Stone were another married couple who had a hit in 1976 with a song called 'We Do It'.
Joanne Stone died 3 years later in 1979 from a brain tumour :(
that one girl in the Nottingham Palais!😆😆😍🥰
which makes the Wedding Bell Blues song skit even more cute....part 2...he ended up with the one he ran from, lol
I love this duet. Those were the days of first love. And Yes they were married. React to Reunited by Peaches & Herb. Please! Thanks! Love your reaction videos. God bless u both❤️
This made me think of you two. Gladys Knight The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me Lyrics
The same man who wrote Disco Lady for Johnnie Taylor wrote this one too. Don Davis. Took me years to figure that. I could hear the similarity in the melody, especially the flute.
They are still married! You should check out WEDDING BELL BLUES BY THEM! They made before they got married!
This one is special ❤️.
arrrrrrgh delightful....
Also react to: One Less Bell to Answer, Aquarius (Let the sunshine in), Soul Picnic, Wedding Bell Blues by the 5th dimension. Beautiful voices.
Yes, they were and are still married I believe. That takes me back to the skating rink !!! Please react to Otis Redding & Carla Thomas "Tramp".(1967)..I think y'all will enjoy it !!!! Any Otis or Sam Cooke. Another one I used to love was Bobby Womack "Harry Hippie" Y'all are just awesome, keep on rockin' !!!!
Yes there are still married and time has been very good to them they look very good as a couple
You gotta do their big hit Marry Me, Bill.” So romantic!
They were together and still are.
It’s not my era (8os/9os)….but, it’s the best era in pop music… the 197os…period.❤️ 😀
It broke my heart when she married Billy... Marilyn is still adorable!
Marilyn & Billy were great as a duo, &, prior to that, as members of The Fifth Dimension. Lots of great songs!!
Another husband/wife duo -- arguably the best husband/wife duo -- are Steve Lawrence & Eydie Gorme. Married from 1957 until Eydie's death in 2013, they both have fabulous voices on their own, with lots of great recordings to their solo credit. Portrait Of My Love is an early great one from Steve. With Feb 14 coming up, I also HIGHLY recommend My Funny Valentine by Eydie (name pronounced E-dee Gor-may). Together, their 1960 song, We Got Us, wasn't released as a single, but it was part of an album & won the Grammy Award that year for Best Performance By A Duo or Group.
You should also treat yourself to this clip -- IMO, the best 15 minutes of recorded music -- Steve & Eydie singing a medley of songs written by George Gershwin (one of the most prolific & possibly THE best, songwriter of the 20th century, despite the sad fact that he died in 1937, at the way-too-young age of 38). Listen & enjoy two wonderful voices singing an exceptionally well put together medley of great standards from what is known as The Great American Songbook. ua-cam.com/video/1Zni8yLEl-I/v-deo.html
Michael and Penny from Good Times saying this song on the show. 1🔥🔥
Sweet memories 😊
