troodon imo is the truest example of a glass canon in the game. a solo or pair of them can decimate most of the roster if skilled but a single hit from most anything will end them too. adult troo is a menace in the right hands
Man Troodon is one of my favourite picks to play in a group, or maybe just as a duo with a friend. The chaos you can cause with 2 or more Troodons really ramps up the intensity of them.
I love tactics where I hide myself into a bigger cluster of grass right after dismount and then wait for my mates to do a proper smoke screen. It saves stam + you can drag your enemy a little bit around the battle zone with 1 or 2 troodons. Going in with more than 3-4 is a bad idea, let alone full pack. There should be openers, heavy hitters (best to have all combat muts loaded on them) and at least 1 "observer" - that one is important for pursuing bigger things that can run away while the rest is getting stam. 5 good players with a plan is more than enough. Hunting at night or fights in the open but with grass/some sort of foliage. Troodon is super fun but I also suffer with PTSD at this point. :D

Oh yeah, it would be so much easier to survive baby stage. Baby troo barely could kill a baby deer. I have to spend two full stamina pool for that fawn and I was lucky he got stuck in the tree. Most of the time if you spawn not near the body you're dead.
I nice addition to the game would be for some species to be able to gain the omnivore diet through mutation, I believe troodon, packy, and diablo would be good contenders for being able to get the mutation from the current roster

One of my first ever dinosaurs was a troodon. I had just downloaded the game and I hoped onto a discord call and we managed up a pack of about 7-9 of us and took down a whole teno.
lots of people understimate Troodon venom until they get hit with it. I used to play lots of Troodon when it came out but since I'm more of a solo player and latency is never my friend I kinda gave up on the playable for now until it gets its pounce changes.
I wish troodon had better venom, like the version of venom that it has now is just sort of bland, I hope they add something to it like stamina drain or something to give it more of an edge. And also mimicry but I don’t know how well it could work
Haha it’s awesome seeing a Troodon horde, I hate those birds, I’ve died so many times to those as a fresh spawn. But I love seeing large packs of small dino just take over an area, so fun
Troodon looks so fun (and deadly) on paper, but in a game where the tiniest bit of lag will end your run it's just sad. I think it should be able to eat some types of fruit or something to give it that true scavenger role at least. Even if it had to be a mutation.
I agree, poor troodon needs some love. It has gotten buffs to its ability so it is deadly in groups when latency doesn't get it killed, but latency almost always gets it killed
@@Gustangela I'm planning to make a tutorial video with all the game basics very soon! May make a series on each individual dino eventually, but figured it would be good to explain how to get started in the game for all the newer players!
Indeed Troodon is not as weak as people think, its WEAKER. Makes more/similar noise as dinos 10-100x heavier when sprinting and flops over dead if 95% of the roster so much as looks at them even with damage reduction mutation. Similarly almost the entire roster of playable dinos can simply trot/sprint away and there the little the Troodon/s can do about it. Their only damage is from their venom and it takes a fair bit of stamina to use it, can not sprint across the map and still spend all your stamina attacking.. and sprinting after someone just to keep up with them will inevitably just result in not having stamina to attack. The only prey they can reliably kill are fresh spawns and idiots/newbies... and even those are more than able to put up a fight even by pure chance/luck. For a dino that takes a bit more than a hour to grow and is useless for half of that(no venom until 50%) its a garbage tier dino to play with the only redeeming quality being it can be somewhat funny to jumpscare people before acting as immediate comic relief afterwards running away while 4 calling.
It's weak, yes. But when used well and played in a proper well coordinated pack, troodon can be absolutely wicked. Unfortunately latency and desync have made troodon pretty unviable as they take hits they shouldn't more often than not
Similar to raptor, you use pounce to apply damage. But then like dilo, you have venom applied through those pounces. First pounce adds a small amount and each phase the venom in the body stacks. But you have to be careful and only pounce again *after* your troodon makes its noise between pounces. That's how you know which venom phase your target is on(aside from third stage, that one is pretty clear from the purple glow). At third stage, your damage applied with each pounce and bite is multiplied heavily, so that's the time to really pile on the damage before it wears off.
The game looks cool but the hit detection seems so weird in these videos. I've been considering buying it with the steam sale, but how bad is the combat really?
it suffers greatly from latency, higher ping players depending on dino (usually stego and dibble) get essentially free hits which in this game leads to death very quickly. The isle was the first game I regretted getting, its just one of those games where most of the time its more fun to watch others play and suffer than to live it at least for me. Also be warned hacking in the isle is an issue and happens quite frequently these days and unfortunately there isn't much you can do if hackers do find you since they rarely use weak playables.
Troodons and dying in a largely unwinnable fight to the venom resistant cerato for no reason is one of the most iconic duos in this game next to being a herbivore and having terrible stamina, or being a carno and being ridiculously overpowered. All the more embarassing that the cerato at the end managed to lose, unless the damage it took from the herra pounces was just that insane.
hey all, i used to hold rmb to stay latched/pounced on a target and would release rmb to jump away or off of my pounced target, but recently ive been releasing the rmb and my dino wont jump off the pounce. has the button to unpounce changed recently? thanks
12min ish. that pack, and one of the guys go; we gotta kill a stego. dang right son Am I the only one who thinks a "pack-bonus" would be a good way to balance these small critters?- strentgh in numbers kinda buff, perhaps even ad actual grp-mechanics and grant immunity for FF?
trood is actually fun to play and it isnt weak, but what makes it imposible to play it is the lag and de-sinc, you will die more to those than any dino or mistake
My main problem with troodon is the buggy pouncing and it being a bit unnecessarily hard to get started in the juvie stage :/ Its the main thing that holds me back from enjoying troodons gameplay, cause its simply discouraging to die as one but it not be your fault but rather the servers 😔

lots of people understimate Troodon venom until they get hit with it. I used to play lots of Troodon when it came out but since I'm more of a solo player and latency is never my friend I kinda gave up on the playable for now until it gets its pounce changes.
That's partly why I don't play it either. Just not worth it when there's better playables available for my more solo lifestyle
I love the Troodon hoarding, so many little biters! Like someone else said though I wish they were omnivorous
I love me a troo crew!
I wish troodon had better venom, like the version of venom that it has now is just sort of bland, I hope they add something to it like stamina drain or something to give it more of an edge. And also mimicry but I don’t know how well it could work
I hadn’t seen the thumbnail until now and I just saw it THAT SKIN IS AWESOME I LOVE BLUE 😆
😂
It's a blue Troodon. Bluedon, if you will.
🤣
Had so much fun , now this time as Troodieeess!
Yeah, so unfortunate we didn't get to mob the server haha. But it was still fun xD
@@dinometta Next time :3
Oh yay! I was just thinking about what to do and this video popped in.
Good timing!
Clearly Metta has a primal desire to be an evil mischievous little creature. I wonder what might that mean.
😂
Just seeing all them drinking was so funny 12:56
😂 It was so surreal seeing that many troos
we need more Troodon in the isle (coming from a Troodon main)
Lol if they'd just figure out how to reduce the latency!
awesome as always
@@eau_de_claudette thank you
Haha it’s awesome seeing a Troodon horde, I hate those birds, I’ve died so many times to those as a fresh spawn. But I love seeing large packs of small dino just take over an area, so fun
That was the biggest horde I've been in since troo's initial release! So fun!
It has gotten buffs to its ability so it is deadly in groups when latency doesn't get it killed, but latency almost always gets it killed
a new Metta video :D suddenly my day isnt so mediocre (I had a math exam)
I hope your exam went well!
That was Troorific!
XD
0:25 in no
On unofficial servers the growth is faster than on official servers. I play only on unofficial servers becouse of that.
Most good unofficials are EU based or free grow servers, so I seldom play on them
0:11 i think that is my raptor right there, sorry for the weird kill, i have high ping
I was so mad, I'd died to something else wonky an hour earlier too xD
The unyielding ankle biter of Evrima
Chomp chomp!
Could we have a vid on the bepi?
@@Rome....d yes! In progress!
@@dinometta LEEEEESSSSSS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Oh how I do love a Troodon horde!!
It's really fun when you are coordinated!
@ Absolutely! Hope to see you out there sometime, would love to be in a Troodon horde with you!😊
Ever consider doing a legacy vid, Metta?
I've done one, but honestly I just can't with legacy combat anymore. It's so slow and tail riding
@ fair, fair
love this lil rat
I need a video with mechanics, I am starting playing and have no idea of the timing to apply venom, etc.
@@Gustangela I'm planning to make a tutorial video with all the game basics very soon! May make a series on each individual dino eventually, but figured it would be good to explain how to get started in the game for all the newer players!
This is awesome sauce
Thank you
Indeed Troodon is not as weak as people think, its WEAKER.
Unfortunately latency and desync have made troodon pretty unviable as they take hits they shouldn't more often than not
what server were you playing on? the troodon pack was so cute
This was on NA2!
How do you actually use a troodon? What are the mechanics exactly?
Similar to raptor, you use pounce to apply damage. But then like dilo, you have venom applied through those pounces.
First pounce adds a small amount and each phase the venom in the body stacks. But you have to be careful and only pounce again *after* your troodon makes its noise between pounces. That's how you know which venom phase your target is on(aside from third stage, that one is pretty clear from the purple glow). At third stage, your damage applied with each pounce and bite is multiplied heavily, so that's the time to really pile on the damage before it wears off.
@dinometta Thanks for the reply! Does each phase increase with any troodon biting the target, or just builds up for each individual troodon?
troodon is super fun just as herra
Indeed!
The game looks cool but the hit detection seems so weird in these videos. I've been considering buying it with the steam sale, but how bad is the combat really?
It hasn't seemed too bad. Owltime is another Isle player that engages in a lot of combat if you want a different look.
it suffers greatly from latency, higher ping players depending on dino (usually stego and dibble) get essentially free hits which in this game leads to death very quickly.
Desync is the number one thing that gets me killed in this game. On some servers it's better than others, but 9/10 runs I'll take at least one bad hit
troodon is a heavily pack oriented dino of course your going to have a hard time on your own
Troodons and dying in a largely unwinnable fight to the venom resistant cerato for no reason is one of the most iconic duos in this game next to being a herbivore and having terrible stamina, or being a carno and being ridiculously overpowered.
All the more embarassing that the cerato at the end managed to lose, unless the damage it took from the herra pounces was just that insane.
The cera at the end was likely a new player as they didn't seem to know how to alt attack
Wait cerato is venom resistant?!
@Spider-r6d yes, on top of everything else it already has going for it x]
@@Dinoman9877 dang, why would they add that, it makes sense for it to be resistant to disease but not venom!
WHEN DID YOU POST THIS LOL
Today xD
hey all, i used to hold rmb to stay latched/pounced on a target and would release rmb to jump away or off of my pounced target, but recently ive been releasing the rmb and my dino wont jump off the pounce. has the button to unpounce changed recently? thanks
Jump button it is. You can direct your dismount with camera angle but this is also on mercy of latency.
Yeah, when they changed raptor pounce, they made it so spacebar is the dismount button now!
@ oh my gosh thank you I figured something like this haha. No more getting my raptors killed
0:50 this looks like my Diablo
I hope it wasn't! Bro was mixpacking with that raptor xD
@ oh yea no. Definitely not me I have a major hate for mix packers.
Guess i just have a basic ass Dibble, gonna need to change it up
The Troo horde!
Heck yeah!
I’m new, very enjoyable video!
Welcome!
12min ish. that pack, and one of the guys go; we gotta kill a stego.
dang right son
Am I the only one who thinks a "pack-bonus" would be a good way to balance these small critters?- strentgh in numbers kinda buff, perhaps even ad actual grp-mechanics and grant immunity for FF?
Lol, we saw one too. But only a couple people wanted to hunt it
Love it!
Thank you!
I was Jah! I am happy my death in the end was not in vain xD
@@jeremyhammond2567 haha looked like you got stuck under him! Unfortunate death, but he went down too!
trood is actually fun to play and it isnt weak, but what makes it imposible to play it is the lag and de-sinc, you will die more to those than any dino or mistake
It is weak- ts the skill that you use that makes it strong
You're not wrong. One moment of desync means you're dead on troodon
Metta stream AND a new vid? Lucky us! :D
Heck yeah!
Sorry for asking but do you play on official servers or others mostly?
@@Smugliif I'm mostly on officials yeah
@@dinometta Okay thanks! I was just wondering because sometimes my game sync with others feels a bit off. Thank you for the wonderfully made videos
I was in one of those troodons that were in the second pack
Glad you could join us!
there easy to do solo. plus there deadly
My main problem with troodon is the buggy pouncing and it being a bit unnecessarily hard to get started in the juvie stage :/
Its the main thing that holds me back from enjoying troodons gameplay, cause its simply discouraging to die as one but it not be your fault but rather the servers 😔
I agree heavily. Those dang buggy pounces are why I don't play troodon or raptor much right now
