It's actually bonkers how few people still talk about the classic Forza games. They offered so much more than the more modern iterations as you have shown in the video. The attention to detail was crazy and even put Gran Turismo to shame at times. I hope these games make a resurgence with Xbox emulation making more progress. They deserve more conversation!
Having played the old Forza games out of curiosity, I’m actually surprised how fun and content rich they are compared to the later iterations. Edit: One flaw I will point out is with the Championship events, if you want to win the car, you have to win every single race, even if you have the most points by the end of the championship.
Consider yourself lucky, I sold my Xbox classic when the 360 came out and it was the biggest mistake, I dream about playing this game at lest once again... so many great memories😢
One cool thing about the older forza games is that you don't need an internet connection to play the single player career mode. The standards for gaming is falling to the point where games with the feature to be played without internet is considered a positive when it should be automatic.
After GT4 we have to thank Polyphony for dropping the ball. I bought an xbox 360 JUST for Forza Motorsport 4. Have played FM5, FM6, own FM7, FH2, FH5. Love both series, I'm glad Forza exists, we need competition to push for greatness.
It's always nice getting to know more about these old games because not many people touch on them. Most people tend to focus on the newer Motorsport titles (FM7 for example) so seeing someone cover the start of it all definitely piqued my interest as a fellow Forza Horizon and Motorsport fan (to some degree). Props to you and your editor for putting this great video together.
I've never actually played the OG Forza but that riced Dodge Neon is the trailer is peak early 2000's lmfao Having Sprints and the Numbered Track Layouts in the Loading Screens are such unfortunate cuts from more recent titles, the layouts especially are a really helpful feature. The Drivatar feature as well is sorely missed with how lacking the AI can be in recent titles. They're supposed to have redone it for the new Motorsport but having the ability to get a teammate that you could actively contribute to improving would be such a great feature with today's tech.
I still have my OG Xbox under my desk with Forza motorsports in it when I’m in the mood to reply this gem. It really is an amazing game with wonderful customization
I remember the first time I owned a original Xbox my dad brought me for Christmas, it cam with Forza Motorsport 1, I use to always stay into it, it was the best racing game I've owned for sure
Forza 2 was my first Xbox 360 game, and Forza 1 is, to this day, my favorite racing game. It's GT3 with incentives to take the racing seriously, better graphics, and more modern controls. Even better is the Xbox's ability to let you rip your own music to the hard drive and play it in game, so I get to listen to my favorite songs rather than the ones the game came with. The only other 2 games that come close to FM1 for me are NFSU2 and FM 4.
This is hands down my favourite Forza game. I'm praying Xbox emulation someday gets to the point of PCSX2 because I'd play this and PGR2 again in a heartbeat
Forza Motorsport was a beast of a game. So much content and incredible handling. Sad it turned into Forza Horizons with arcade handling and online bullshit like dlc.
I always wanted to try these early Forza games, they had so much effort put into them. Totally different from the current landscape with the franchise, thanks for bringing this showcase! I'm sure Chadlonso will grow to become a world champion, maybe.
I never had a PS2 at the time, but my brother had the original Xbox. I was a Need For Speed kid at the time, so the day I discovered Forza Motorsport, I was kinda like: "Wtf is this? It's way too complicated!" - But oddly enough with the game being just accessible enough not to be repulsive, difficulty settings being very customizable and the premise being so different and interesting compared to arcade racing games at the time, it eventually got me totally hooked to a different genre of racing game that I'd learn to love even more than the ones I was playing before. This game already looks quite impressive today, but back in the days, it was absolutely mind-shatteringly new: fully customizable liveries, cars with damage models, an absolute killer soundtrack by Junkie XL... Everything screams "It's a quite grounded, sim-like game, but you can hop in if you're an arcade enjoyer and get used to it progressively". Just for that, IMHO, the first Forza Motorsport is kinda the ultimate "transition" game for an arcade racing game enjoyer to get into simcade and towards more sim-oriented games without being too brutal of a change. Oh gee, I remember trying to memorize the turns in advance during the loading screens to try and not crash at the first turn - I'd never have expected to do that as a kid in a racing game!
Forza 1 is forever top 5 best in my eyes. I remember buying a original Xbox in 2009 to play this game and also the older Halos even though i had a phat Xbox 360. Didn't regret it! And I brought another one a year back to do the same and for PGR2.
Man just came across your channel totally forgot how good the first forza was.....going to have to dig out the OG xbox when I get home from work and start running through this amazing game AGAIN!
I am currently playing through the career mode of Forza 1 standing at about 20%. I was very surprised to find my MS Speed wheel working with this game on the Xbox 360. Loving every moment.
Still play the game on og xbox, GT didnt had full detailed cars, even tho you had 700+, but the career was better at GT3, but Forza had detailed damage models, first with tuning and decals ability, FM3 had detailed interior for all cars, not blacked out, Fm4 was the last for me, with all of the games had killer OST, blacksabbath, daft punk.
I play it too. What are your favourite cars to use? I loved the 22B, it has like 9.0 acceleration for 400hp. It's OP in the lower hp cups as its light and 4WD. The XJ220 has 9.9 speed for me too and the AB FLUG RX7, MR2, Elise, NSX and 360 are so fun to use.
not many videos of fm1 existed just last year, this year the game's the getting the social recognition it deserved from many youtubers note : i searched for 'creating a livery' on fm1 last year and results were scarce to none.. i wanted to see how the 100 layers livery aged thru times 😂
I used to play this game soooooo much. The only problem now Is both my Xbox original and the disk for Forza motorsports is broken. The Xbox won't open the disk tray and Idk where the cords are to be able to plug it into a TV. The disk on the other hand has VERY deep scratches from being used so much. Out of every game this was probably the longest game I've ever played. After The disk stopped working, I was only about halfway done with the game. I will always remember the game as one of my favs in the forza franchise.
It's sad people forget how forza truly started. Had some sweet customization for a track racing game, aftermarket and pre tuned cars, (Junkie X.L for instrumental rock soundtrack) simple yet good but overall just fun and definitely challenging as you progress.
Nice seeing their roots but just like Gotham Racing I rather play the 4th installment where you can really see that they got their grips together and where worthy of competing with GT.
I remember playing the original Forza on my og Xbox back in 2005. Never would i imagined bout 20 years later i would be playing Forza Motorsport aka Forza 8 on XBox Series S😂

There is a fairly early build out there of this, from back in November 2002 (with footage of it on youtube). Of course, being at that early of a stage of development, isn't much to with, with a C5 ZO6 Corvette being the only car there is to use, and is pretty much the equivalent of Gran Turismo 2000 in terms of functionality. It may be no competitor for Gran Turismo But, this game at least bring the sim-cade well balanced with unique car rather than many version of same car, also some fantasy track was quite variety with other tracks, with some Need For Speed parts & visual customization that at least surpassed Gran Turismo 4 back when they were released
Technically Grand Tourismo 4 features over 721 cars from 80 manufacturers, from as early as the 1886 Daimler Motor Carriage, and as far into the future as concepts for 2022. Not as good as gt4 in my opinion. The best forza was the 4th game, but to me gran turismo has always been the better games, even by todays standards, but forza has always been a close 2nd
after forza 3, the forza motorsport series fell off. forza 4 just wasnt that good. get mad at me all you want, you're just blinded by nostalgia and the fact that jeremy clarkson narrated some parts.

Forza is based because it's not Japanese game (even though I really respect Gran Turismo even with this flaw).
dje sam tebe naso brate zanimljiv si :D nemas bas neki racing skill ali smjesno je gledat
I wanted to try FM4 for a bit of time, one reason being the customisation. Tried to emulate it on Xenia, but it keeps on crashing. Which sucks cause, as of now, the customisation on FH7 is absolute dogshit
I think with FM4 there was a mod that fixes the perfomance a bit on Xenia project plus I think it was called
@@DoVe_7 oh cool, I'll check it out later
Its insane that Xemu cant even run Forza
it was an ok game
Not as good as gt4 in my opinion. The best forza was the 4th game, but to me gran turismo has always been the better games, even by todays standards, but forza has always been a close 2nd
Honestly I've always loved GT4 but these physics are much better imo. The cars feel even more stiff on the new GT games than they did on GT4
uhkooruh
combability
after forza 3, the forza motorsport series fell off. forza 4 just wasnt that good. get mad at me all you want, you're just blinded by nostalgia and the fact that jeremy clarkson narrated some parts.
I love both. There. Now stop
@rtrojosh3577 Bro FM4 was the peak of the series
@@hamiltonseggsgaming69lol calling FM4 bad is like saying Gran Turismo 4 is bad while FM4 is not only the peak of the series but also the fullest version of what FM3 should be, FM3 is basically barebone games and FM4 perfecting it, because basically FM3 and 4 is using the same engine and assets but FM4 make it better
@@FrozenDrone12 exactly!!
@@FrozenDrone12I wouldn’t say that FM3 is bad like that.
great video, but i personally do not like that the intro / developement info about the game is a third of the video, it really isnt all that interesting
That's a fair critic , will try to shorten it a bit next time 👍
I gotta say the worst forza ever
