    I really don't understand avant-garde music like Schoenberg and more of the Stravinskeys things. But composers like Prokofiev I deeply respect. One of the greatest composers ever, love his etudes, sonatas and concertos (especially piano concerto 3)

    • @Quotenwagnerianer
      @Quotenwagnerianer 8 місяців тому

      Schoenberg is not avant-garde. Avant-garde began AFTER WW2 as a reaction to the horrors of it.
      It was an understandable reaction, but a musical dead-end. You can't write music that deliberately tries to alienated the listener and expect it to have a lasting impression.

    • @pookz3067
      @pookz3067 2 місяці тому

      @@Quotenwagnerianerthough, there’s value in exploring dead ends and non-lasting forms do expression that fit into particular historical contexts. If no one’s doing it, the value only increases. Preferring the eternal to the transient is a matter of taste.

If there is a moment in time when we all need to use our energies in a constructive and healing way. Now is that moment. I saw the most gorgeous ,serene sunrise this morning (l live across the pond) and lamented for those who will not see it . Like l said Traum , you capture the moment . Thankyou .
