I have to fly in order to cruise. Flights are expensive, so I'd prefer at least a 7 day itinerary to make it worthwhile.
I agree and I am on SSDI so I have to save,
Same, it's a waste to fly there and back for a measly 3 day cruise
Longer cruise is better. The shortest I have done was 5 nights
same I won't go on a cruise that is short to much work to get ready and fly down to the cruise.
@@LM-id1bb exactly to time consuming and expensive
I love longer cruises because there's less drama. Hopefully, they will offer both.
what drama happens on shorter cruises and why?
Good about the pricing! It's so discouraging when you see that price and then get to checkout and it's double, triple, quadrupled in price.
It might be good idea for people that can drive to the port, but for me it’s not worth it for me to do a shorter than 7 nights isn’t worth it for me for the cost of airfare.
Agree
100% if I lived an hour away, then maybe.
Agreed. I’ve noticed that a lot of people that don’t live near the port for shorter cruises usually do a back to back to make the trip worth it.
We do for Long Beach and San Pedro, in California.
For shorter trips, are they going where you need a passport?
The longer the better
Agree, the whole traveling to port, the embarkation and all that, two weeks or even more.
If all the cruise lines keep changing all the cruises to short 3-4 day cruises, we will have to stop cruising. It is not worth the cost of what airfare is to fly to Florida or another state from California, get a hotel, transportation, etc. It is not worth the cost, even if you pull a 3 day back to back.
same here
Agree....will not do anything under 5 days and then only if I can tie it in with some other activity. 7 or better for just a cruise alone.
My husband and I enjoy 16 days or longer. More ports and time in ports
Just do back to back cruises
BTB are great. Itinerary are basically the same with a sea day. Can only go to Nassau ( out of PC ) so many times. Have fun.
I don’t care for the short cruises!
Transparency is a Good Thing.
Love it! 🚢☀️
Absolutely!
I am a firm beliver in 8 or more day cruises only for me and my sister agree because 1st day ure driving worried about getting your luggage then nap time and the last day is paying fees off and packing and making sure everything is good to go and getting of the ship so really the 8 day is a 6 day for me and mine because we stress to much😂 and u have the fact all my cruises are a 6 to 9 hour drive
I often cruise solo and I really hate when I book a cruise and when I go to pay I find out I have to pay about the same rate as 2 people even though I’m alone in the room. So annoying.
My husband and do cruises 6 are more days. We practically jump through rings of 🔥 of fire at our jobs to get time off so we make it worth our while.
I would rather do a longer cruise on the larger ships.
I prefer long cruises 7 days or more to enjoy my vacation. I don’t care for the shorter cruises
Agree. It takes a couple days for me to relax.
OMG a law from Cali that I can actually get behind?!? AMAZING
Right! Lol
Shocking!
So true!
That's really hard to believe. California, are you sure??
We dislike huge ships and we prefer cruises longer than 7 days. As my hubby ends up taking 2 weeks off (owner operator truck driver) we might as well make it 12 day cruise! We prefer the smaller ships that can get into more ports. The itineraries are much better. So, keep the big ships on the short cruises and the mid sized on the long ones! This works well for us. We love and appreciate you more!!! ❤
I like shorter cruises. It sllows me to take quick weekend vacations and dont have to take time off work. This is a good idea
If you live close to a cruise port it is, not if you have to fly. Too many things can happen, and it doesn't make sense to fly in a day in advance for a three day cruise.
nice for people that are close they should have some short cruises but I doubt they can fill up the ship
I see what yall mean. I literally live 5 minutes away from the cruise port in Miami. I'm tired of the nicer ships reserved for the long week cruise. They should alternate between shorter cruises and longer cruises... that way there's a variety of choices for us locals.
Same
Actually taken 4 and 5 days cruise and they always been packed
We live in NC not going all the way to Florida for 3 or 4 day cruise like 6 or 7
I live in NC and I do it all the time lol 😂 when I get a cheap flight
I said the same thing.
I’m in California.
Same here. I'm in Tennessee.
Same here I have to fly from Wisconsin
Agreed.
Carnival needs to do more weekend cruises out of NYC. Friday to Sunday. They can use a smaller ship. It’s a great mini vacation for a hard working New Yorker.
Problem is only place they would be able to go in that short period is Bermuda
That would be fine. I remembered a few yrs back I wanted to take my mom on a cruise knowing well she was afraid of cruising lol. A friend of mine said carnival cruise had cruise to nowhere from New York City. I booked it knowing if she was afraid it would only be for 3 days. I booked a regular room without balcony. When we got onboard she was some what relaxed so I said to myself let me go see if I could upgrade the room to a balcony room to my surprise the ship was booked 100 percent. It was the carnival dream which carried 4631 passengers. I was like wow. long story short we have done 5 cruises after that. We need weekend getaway cruises from NYC.
@@Willworld. I would be for that. Bermuda is on my list to visit.
That would be great. Short trips from Baltimore and Norfolk as well.
Didn’t NY loose the Carnival Firenze because y’all ass ghetto
If Carnival makes the change to put their largest ships on shorter itineraries, it will be after Celebration Key is open as they have schedules through June 2026. I believe that the average cruiser spends more per day on average on a shorter cruise than a longer cruise as they don't have to stretch their budget for as many days and the cruise would be cheaper upfront. Shorter cruises can also help better utilize ports. Shorter cruises typically embark/debark on Thursday/Friday or Monday/Tuesday while 7 day cruises typically embark/debark Saturday or Sunday. This allows for the same terminal to potentially serve 3 of their largest ships. Plus, with limited ports that can handle the largest ships, putting the largest ships on short itineraries allows them to visit these ports on Saturday and Sunday when the 7 day cruises are at their home port.
So funny how times have changed! Way back 1991- Royals Nordic Empress ( later Empress of the Seas) was a 3&4. Night cruise out of Miami to Coco Cay - we all had to tender and then didn’t know any better. Ships always full and $600 for an inside cabin 4 nights - no alcohol no internet! No crazy booze cruise, just class! Formal nights were dressy and no one came in shorts nor baseball caps. It was pure fun & class!!
2000 we went on voyager of the seas it was brand new, it was so fancy to me lol. Everyone was so nice there was no phones just fun. Our very first cruise
I don't live near a port. The travel expense would be to much. I would have to book four flights, and two hotel rooms just to cruise for 6 or 7 days. Its not worth it.
Not a fan of the short cruises - on any cruise line - but you'll notice that prices for Oasis class short cruises are way higher per day than on a Freedom class ship. Not just the cruise fare itself, but the add-ons. I think that is how RCL is keeping their short itineraries from turning into Booze Cruises. Also, as far as tendering, I would imagine the short Excel class cruises to only go to the new private island (which is getting a pier) and Nassau, so no tendering required at either location. I do look forward to seeing how different the Islander will be for Margaritaville. They're the Little Cruise Line That Could in my opinion, so I have nothing but cheers for their success, even if I never set foot on one (though I will likely try it out).
I don’t own the ship so if it’s clean and the food is good and entertainment is ok I’m happy. Still a cruise
It a big fan of short cruises! Too much party and craziness on Carnival for a few days. We left Carnival and moved onto Celebrity to get away from the partying and too much drinking
It’s great for us younger cruisers. We don’t have the time to take off work or a babysitter for that long. However we would like to cruise on ships not as old as us. I’m sure the difference im opinion is amongst 2 different generations.
Now, the cruise lines should all get-together and include tips in price.
I really think these Cruise Companies need to gear some cruises around the M-F work week. We don't even look at Cruises under 6 days. We generally fly and have no desire for the short Cruises.
I’m glad this change is taking place! Now I don’t have to keep explaining to some that on cruise websites, that’s the cost before taxes and port cost! Thanks for sharing 🛳️🛳️
Yes, for those new to cruising this is so disappointing.
We like 12 or 14 day cruises. I'm having time finding anything good now. A lot of these bigger ships are putting out three or 4 day cruises. That's not worth it for us. We like the Longer Cruises.
NCL has a repo cruise from Seattle to Miami that has a great itinerary, this fall. Free at Sea and all that jazz.
I love my 7 or longer cruise s. As long as they have options, I'm good. I can always find another cruise with a longer cruise days
I do think the change in advertising the cruise line prices is a good move. I'm a travel advisor and more transparent pricing on websites is helpful so when I quote a cruise, the price will be closer to what they are bombarded with online.
The 8 days from East Coast, like Bayonne and New York and Baltimore, you need more days to enjoy the Caribbean without Flying.
Back in the day The short cruise was great, so was flying, big changes now.
MSC rotates the Seashore and does 3/4 day one week. Then the next week does 7 days. They also have market B2B cruises.
Yes! I really want to try a short cruise with them to give it a try. They go to unique ports in Europe but I'd like to get a feel for them prior to investing in a big trip overseas!
@@pagaporvista569 I’m currently on my first MSC cruise. We are on a 7 day and on the MSC Seashore. My only criticism is be patient with them on the first day. They are a great cruise line but growing too fast. Their private island is beautiful and their ships are beautiful. Customer service could use some good improvement.
What I would really like to see is the (final price) on all items. Shopping in the US really is different than shopping here in the Caribbean and Europe.. Cause the price on the tag is the final price you pay.
Only way I see carnival go through with this is if they worked out the math with drink packages.. They probably figured out they’ll make more money on the short cruises with the drink package than the sticker price shock value of a 7 day.
I'm happy to see a bit more transparency in pricing! I grew up in Europe so I hate the shock of price changes. I remember when airlines used to do the same, if only hotels and cruise would get in line. What not add gratuities in, too? I like the idea of choices for shorter trips, we just moved to FL and were hoping for more frequent short getaways on NCL but of course there's that the typical 3/4 nights out of Port Canaveral list there used to be with NCL. Size of ship wouldn't matter as it's just a few days. We did do a 5 day on NCL Getaway last year which we enjoyed but still would like a 4/3 day long weekend option. But I agree with others, if I have to fly to a port I would not want to do anything less than 7. Can't wait to retire so we can do the 12-14 day cruises!
Best cruise youtube channel hands down. Hard grind, try to have lot's of fun J. Good work.
Another thought is for the crew…. Cleaning the ship and cabins in between the shorter cruises….
I think the bigger ships should be for longer cruises, & let the smaller ships do shorter cruises 🛳
Minimum off 10 nights, 14-16 night is the sweet spot for us travelling out off the UK
Did a short cruise once, 20+ years ago, NEVER again! I only do 7 day+
I think carnival should do an itinerary that goes to St. Lucia, Barbados & Antigua again.
We tend to sail on ships multiple times because even with a week cruise it is hard to do everything on board. Often we stay in the same cabin so we know how to get everywhere. Have done this several times. Only sail with MSC. Cheers!
Since I've have to fly from Cali to cruise to the Caribbean, less than 7 days is not ideal. I'd actually prefer 10-12 days. Then maybe 7 day + 4 day cruise would make sense. However, large ships would make embarkation and disembarking long for ports. And many won't be able to experience everything the mega ship would have to offer. Just thinking about the rush is stressful. I wouldn't want that energy on any ship, stress energy from cruisers having FOMO because they don't have enough time. I like all included upfront pricing which includes taxes and port fees. That's what airlines have been doing and it makes a lot more sense.
Two cons. #1 for the guest. These new Carnival ships were designed with a lot more dining options than can be enjoyed on a 4 day cruise. Guests truly won't be able to explore the ship or those options on a short schedule. #2 for the workers. 4 and 5 day turn arounds are very hard on cruise staffs. There will be more headaches. Room preps, luggage turnarounds. Add the costs of embarking and debarking (shore side workers, deliveries ,etc.). Now imagine they are doing this now with ships handling 2500 to 3500 guests but increasing the totals to 6500 guests,
Great Info! Thanks for reporting!
Shorter cruises seem to be harder, wear and tear wise, on ships (all crew will tell you that crowds on longer cruises are way more "chill"), so hopefully this doesn't take the luster off of Carnival's Excel Class ships.
Maybe use the Vista class for short cruises and leave the excel class for longer cruises.
I hope we get transparency in pricing everywhere, especially those dreaded resort fees!
Yes, resort fees are ridiculous. Just factor it into the cost. Same with “cleaning fees”.
Good information 👍🏾
Thank you!
How far can you go during a 3-4 day cruise? I prefer 7 day cruise as a minimum... disappointed that cruise lines seem to be shifting away from longer cruises... One reason for liking longer cruises..is the cost and hassle of getting to Ft Lauderdale or Miami. Will be trying 8 day out of Port Canaveral....
I generally do 14 or 15 days. You can do them on RC but they are older crappier ships though.
They should alternate between the 4 day and 7 8 day
Still to this day I have not been on a cruise and I don’t think I ever will. However, I love Jays content so much and I love his personality I just keep coming back to watch more😂 I’m happy he says he’s gonna put out more content more frequently
You gotta try it, such a great vacation
Ooh I hope that new California rule applies to plane tickets too!
I remember the 2 day to nowhere cruise. Interesting times..... saw some things I can't unsee....😳
They are not doing it to give people a chance they are doing it to make money. Talk to a couple employees and they said it’s killing them because of the turnover of people two times a week because it’s such a huge ship but they are going to coco cay TWICE a week now and making a lot of money, that’s why they used the allure to kind of see how it goes and I guess they’re making a lot of money.
That’s why they’re in business.
It’s not, the good ship lollipop.
@@Catmeaner THATS what I was trying to point out 🙄 everybody keeps saying it’s to “give people who can’t afford a weeklong cruise on the biggest cruise ship a chance to cruise.
Always good information bro much appreciated 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Longer cruises are better. It allows for a good mix relaxing sea days and gun port days.
I'm looking forward to that Margaritaville review. Nice video and very informative. I learned a lot in a short time.
We only do 3 and 4 day cruises. We have already done the 6, 7 and 8 day cruises on Carnival and the shorter make great weekend cruises.
That giphy with the man with rose glasses and Hawaiian shirt is all I need to see 😂
Always! 🎉❤
California in the house 🏠
The Carnival excel class ships do not have self-serve laundry facilities so they can go shorter than 7 days; but, not longer.
It is tough for the crew to turn all of the cabins on embarkation day. Imagine having to do that every 3-4 days.
Carnival does this in Long Beach already. Those short cruises are always at full capacity.
Nice updates!!!Happy Monday😊
Bearded dude with the drink makes it into all your videos 😅
Yeah that would be a bummer to see the new ships turned in to a rust bucket booze cruise.
Staffing issues are already here, now you’re expecting the crew to do two turns a week. Stupid idea, get proper staff on the ship and maybe do once every 3-4 weeks do the short trips.
Agreed
The bigger ships going shorter days. I think they took that from a waitress you go to a restaurant the waitress wants you to eat and get out so they can turn the table and make more money. I think the cruise lines picked up on that idea turn the ship over quick make more money.
Big con for us on the west coast, added expense to have to fly back to the east coast multiple times a year.
I love the fact that those of us who don’t have all the time in the world to be off, might get the opportunity to get on one of the larger ships 🛳️ to cruise on a shorter trip. ❤ 5 days would be great.
I live in Houston and Galveston cruise port is less than an hour from me
My wife and I have unique jobs that don’t always allow consecutive time off. A 4 day cruise for a long weekend for us would be great! We’ve never cruised before but watch your channel as we find it very interesting
We live close to a port, so weekend cruise are a great weekend getaway
I can tell you from first hand experience, we did a 4 day on Allure (Oasis Class), and it was fantastic!! We had a great time ! You make some good points on Carnival in general but all and all I would absolutely do a shorter run.
My first couple cruises were either 3/4 days due to budget and see if I'd even like it. I get motion sick pretty easily and was worried. Well, compared to a 25' sailboat on bouncy waters, cruising is a cakewalk! Then, Ive booked 2 more 7 night cruises
Love these videos
Carnival also has Half Moon Cay and Amber Cove as well
it's nice that california and the EU are still trying to look out for the consumer
airlines had a nice start but there seems to be a drift to extract as many things as possible as "extra" features...which probably won't stop until the default traveler is assumed to be traveling naked in the cargo bay but can buy luxury add-ons 🙂
Shorter trips mean packed ships. I was on a 7 day cruise last week that was starting to run out of stuff by day 5. It was at full capacity. I also had to wait a few times and had to reorder my drink more than once because the staff was overwhelmed by the crowd. I won’t take a short trip like this because I need to fly to the port. If you live close, this is a good deal.
We'll be cruising on the Islander July 26th-30th and on the Jubilee August 10th -17th ⛴️🚢
The Valor from NOLA is a wild yet fun cruise. Just one incident when i was on it.
I'm so glad that the true price of cruises will now be advertised! Awesome change for the industry.
Yep! Always try to book and bam it’s 4 times the price!
We started with a 3 day -> then a 5 day-> going on a 7 day next week -> have a 7 day booked for next year already. Shorter cruises give people the chance to try something out without commuting as much time and money… then they can reel you in hook line and sinker. 😂😂
Disney does it too. Disney Wish primarily does short cruises. It’s sister, the Treasure is launching this year and will do 7 day cruises.
We have had actual pricing in Australia for years and it makes things much simpler.
We just took our first 3 day cruise and for our family this was a great amount of time. That said we have taken that same ship a number of times and know what we like…we did notice a lot of first time cruisers aboard so it was likely a different experience for them.
so true .j
Just got off the test run of the Islander. I’ll pray for you…the ship and the staff are not ready. Dont go thinking you’ll have internet either. It was spotty at best and we could only get on it about 10 minutes a day if that. Casino wasn’t ready and working properly. Service issues and the food was not the best. The ship was sooooo pretty though and is laid out just like the carnival Pride. ( I had to leave it on a positive note 😂)
I can’t wait to hear your review
A shorter itinerary on a large ship is a money maker for the cruise line for certain. The price in comparison to a week or more will be less, but guaranteed to not be a better value per day. I agree that it would be a draw for a specific consumer that perhaps doesn't have as much time available for vacation.
In general, I'm not sure why a cruise line would want to take their nicest, newest ships and subject them to the wilder and more unruly types of passengers that are on 3/4 nighters.
I totally agree with you 😮
I live within driving distance to New Orleans under 7 hours and about the same for Mobile. While I love longer cruise (10 days is the perfect cruise for me), sometimes I can only do a 4 or 5 day. I have with several. But they are often on the older ships. Would like to see newer ships. Now for ports in Florida, only would do such when visiting relatives in Florida as an add on
I think 5 day cruises or a mix of 7 day and 3&4 day cruises might work for Carnival. I do believe that it’s a good idea for Carnival since it is difficult for a lot of people to take off 9 days for a cruise.
Went on a back to back cruise on the Conquest (4 days + 3 days) last year, and met ALOT of first time cruisers on the 3 day one, plus it was during the SuperBowl! Yes, we partied....😂
Disney launched the Wish as only 3-4 days so not really a new concept. Carnival tends to have 3-4 days on their oldest ships so just 1 option with a nicer ship would be nice.
Who wants to fly to Fla for a short cruise? Not me!
We have sailed carnival for 20
Years. To the point we are platinum holders. lol. Many 7 and 8 day cruises. However We have taken a few 3 days and we for sure saw the difference in attitude/behavior on board. It Wasn’t a problem for us but I can understand how it would be for some people.
Love your shirt. 🫶🌟💕
Great idea putt the complete price 😊
That might work for the large ships sailing from Florida, but the Jubilee out of Galveston already has a very limited itinerary as is. The new island isn't included on any of them looking all the way into 2026.
Looking forward to your review of the new Margaritaville ship!
Respectfully for lots of us, this is a great idea.
7 + day cruises are miserable. The PTO, child and pet care get expensive. Not to mention the cabin fever (ship pun intended).
Lots of us want bigger nicer ships just for the weekend or under 5 nights.
Everyone's situation and preferences are relative and important to them so I respect that... But saying it's a bad idea when a very large percentage of the market has been asking for this for years isn't fair.
There are thousands like myself who can and will scrap up what's needed to get down to the port by flight, party hard and then be right back to work Monday afternoon or Tuesday.
I would hope they keep the 7 day cruises. Maybe a 3/4/7 schedule or 5/9 schedule. I prefer 7 days or more. But I have done back to back 8/6.
