Jay: you have me laughing while watching some of the topics you talk about . The mistakes, the silly things that people make on the cruise ships. What some people do, how the people act, it’s too funny 😂😂😂😂
You are spot on!!! I work as a pier agent I’ve seen everything from people coming off the ship in hand cuffs to drunk people at 7 am . But the amount of couples coming straight off a cruise in full blown arguments is insane. And don’t get me started on the parents who don’t pay attention to their kids they come off talking on the phone and I’ve seen kids get left behind, fall straight down the escalators because the parent is not paying attention attention 🤦🏽♀️
Such great advice! Keep up the great work.
Get that travel insurance!
About 10% of cost and 10000000% worth it.
From who
Which company
@janlascala3945 there are many to chose from. Don't go with the cruise line insurance. Get airline and cruise insurance. Add on riders for extra health ins. Delays. Missed connections. Lost bags. When you go online you will see all kinds of add on options. Like pet insurance for service animals. Etc. It has proven worth it's cost on 3 separate occasions. Best of all... peace of mind. And for the record I hate insurance premiums. Love the payouts if something goes wrong.
😊
More please. Thanks

Hey Jay, title has a typo. Cheers
@@XP72official Got it. Thanks!
1st LOL
Fly in the day before and stay at a hotel near the seaport.
i hope to meet you on a ship one day!!! you are awesome brotha!!!
Great Info Jay!
Great information Jay😉
Great tips!
Thanks Carla!
@@JSHIPLIFE Hey, Jay, thanks for these tips. Could you also please cover reasonable tipping? (I asked Trek Trendy once before, about tipping on such upscale travel (others had asked as well), but he never replied.) Many of us don't want to feel/ BE "gauche" when we travel - especially if we HAVEN'T travelled in several years.
I worked for a long time in the service industry, but that ended back in the 1990s (yup, I'm that old), and things seem to be so much more expensive now. When I order pizza delivered, they want a minimum 15% tip (and going up in 5% increments from there) - and that is ON TOP OF the delivery cost! Yikes!
I value good service, but don't want to be leeched of all money. I am sure others would also be interested - reasonable amounts, and how & when to give the tip - and to whom, would be informative & helpful - it gets COMPLICATED, especially when there are hotels also involved.
Thank you in advance. Cheers! (And yes, Part 2+, please and thx!)
5:14 . Thank you, this is 100%.
Thank you! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😁😁😄😄Part 2 please, this is really helpful for first time cruisers!
Yes please do a part 2. Thank you 😊
The crew is 1 of the best parts of the cruise!!!
The fact that you guys went to swim with the pigs then ATE HOT DOGS 🌭…DIABOLICAL 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Going on my first one this summer
You’ll love it!!
@@Mekakinny man I hope so!! 🤞🏿
Loved this show part 2 3 4 until we get it🎉😂
Great tips Jay! Part 2 please! ☺️🤭
I get travel insurance and pre pay for everything I can. I am a drinker but I don't like to drink so much that I feel like crap.... water in between dinks is a HUGE help. Don't forget to drink your water.
Words of wisdom in this video.
You nailed it, taking care of the crew is the best return, on your investment
Also make sure your room is large enough to make people happy. Last year I sailed with my BFF in an interior room. I wasn't sure I would ever sail with her again. Even tho we weren't in the room that often, it was tight. This year we had a bigger room, and had the best vacation ever!
We usually do 4 adults in an interior. Its just perfect. You are there to sleep and shower
I had the exact opposite experience with my bestie. I upgraded us to an Aft Excel suite and she was so excited that she kept bringing strangers to our suite to show them around. I’ve never been so upset 😮
Would love to see a collaboration with yourself and Life Well Cruised or La Lido Loca
Go look on La Lido Loca, Tony did collabs with Jay from Shiplife, Ilana from Life Well Cruised, and several others! Posted about 6-8 months ago 😊😊😊
Hey we were on Breakaway recently too. Week of May 19th. We got married on the 20th then promptly won the Not So Newlywed Game on the 21st.
…and THAT is the real, raw truth! Thanks J
Make a part two! I quit drinking this year and was so happy with that decision on my first cruise! Not being hungover is amazing! Thanks for the great video
Thanks for the tips 🛳️🛳️
It’s what Jay said! Yep, that part. 👍🏼
All good points!! Especially the kids/teens!
Great tips for first time cruiser. ❤and others😊
Yeah I went on a cruise last December and there were a lot of teens at the club. It was such a vibe killer
You were spot on in this video once again! I'd love to see a part 2.
The Pineapple People 🤣💀
Great advice!!
I Absolutely agree with knowing the travel companion you are with because once you are on that ship, you are stuck. Bad Sleep habits (snoring!!) can make for miserable nights Ear plugs did not help!!
Great stuff there Jay. Taking my adult daughters and grandkids on their first cruise. Just told them to watch this video.
Important tips! And at a certain age, the recovery time needed from a drink increases lol. I have a 1 drink a day rule on cruises! 😂
Wow alot can happen on a cruise ship enjoy this video
I am so full of gratitude for each member of the service team. I am sitting there eating good food, having fun, enjoying life. Meanwhile they are away from their friends and family so they can provide for them. I think they need to be paid more. Thanks!!!!
Yes, part #2
Jay : You inspired me from your dog Sledding video to try that excursion. Do you have any tips far as what to wear? Waterproof rain pants or snow pants? Any other things you can recommend. Thanks.
Seen a family fight on a cruise ship before. I don’t see that on resorts though. I still prefer cruising.
Settle your bill at guest services the day before you disembark.
Or put a card on file with adequate funds and it will settle as you cruise
Thank you for the video!
Watch the time and know that the cruise line goes off of ship time. The ship WILL leave you if you’re late and then you’re screwed. So turn off the automatic set date/time on your phone and set it manually for the ship time or better yet, get a watch and set a timer if you have one.
Yep! I'm taking a regular watch just to be sure.
@@beachykeen1263 that’s smart! That’s what I do.
Good video all is so true. I love Cruising. Always get my money worth but no drink package for me. 😂😂😂
I know we would all enjoy a part-two!
Yes part 2. Thank you 😂
I cruise solo because i learned my lesson about being on vacation with the wrong people. I totally get why people are removed from the ship. Yes, people watch your children. The worst people are drunks, bad kids, bad parents, and rude people.
Always!
Very good info. The 2 most important things I think are watch your drinking and watch your KIDS. As you mentioned it seems like parents let their kids do as they please. It is hard to deal with other people’s kids when they are misbehaving. And no parents around!
100% wisdom. Welcome to your 30's next stop yelling at kids for being on your lawn 😂
Part 2 on this one would be appreciated.
"Knowing is half the battle!" Give us a "Part 2" and more if you have it please.
I don't understand why people book in hurricane season, especially people who have booked in hurricane season before and had their cruises canceled...
Pineapple 🍍 people 😂is that what we’re called now? 🤣
Bring caffeine because carnival didn't have monster or full throttle
I'm with you, Jay. I hate when someone calls a ship a boat.😮
I'm staying away from Carnival and Royal. If I go on a cruise I wanna relax.
To put a slight spin on a certain cartoon of the 80s...
"Now we know!"
"And knowing is half the battle."
"YAY J!!!!" 😆
Yes to Part 2, please!
Never get that drink package. Ain’t drinking all that liquor.
Part 2 👍🏼👍🏼
Love these vids and ive never been on a cruise. The main thing putting me off is the tipping though. Are there cruises with no tipping is involved? Tipping is so awkward for me and would just prefer the crew to aleready be paid enough. Its really not common here to tip- especially at a bar!
It would be best to go with a more luxury line where they won't nickel and dime for everything. Cruise lines such as Virgin Voyages, Regent Seven Seas, Silverseas, Crystal and Azamara have gratuities built into the fare so there is no requirement to tip. 😊
We made the mistake of cruising on Norwegian in the haven. We are now spoiled rotten. What a huge difference. My travel agent had no experience with the “haven suite “ so I had to learn everything about it myself. I’m looking forward to maybe you helping me next time? Please and thanks for your amazing content
I didn't even get the drink package on my last cruise. If you are sea sick for almost 2 days it really cuts back on alcohol consumption over a 5 day cruise.
Maybe it is the call of mermaids that is no joke it does happen.
Good tips
The difference between a boat and a ship is how many sails or motors it has. If there is one main sail or one motor, it is a boat. If there are two or more sails or motors, it is a ship.
Any input on the best travel agency to book a cruise with? We have only cruised once and we were in our early 20s. Now 48yo. :)
How is Lauren doing?
What insurance do you recommend
When I get purchase travel insurance I tell them if it could happen I wanna be covered for it.
Apologies if this is a stupid question, but our family are going on a Caribbean cruise for the first time in September, and even though we are not interested in any of the excursions, we're still allowed to get off at the ports and have a look around on our own, right?
make sure comprohensive insurance means it covers anthying that might happen on board or off board the ship. Prepere for the worst case scenario and you need never panic!
I am willing to say if you drink, you will suck at making rational choices. prepare ahead of time. Also no drinking is not required on cruises. You can but you could chose not too.
Party cruisee are a thing.
So are quiet genteel cruising.
The point is to cater an experience to an audience. You want a floating reaort where you eat good fois. watch shows. engage in sedate activies, nap in your room in the afternoon? The cruise lines happy to take your money too.
The pineapple people has me crying 😂😂😂😂 I had to rewind to double hear what I thought I heard 😂😂😂😂
I'm not sure if I misunderstood but it sounded like you were saying that if you get in a fight in a cruise ship and you get arrested while on the cruise ship that you might get dumped off at the nearest port and be in prison there. I hope that's not true because that sounds very weird to me because if you didn't commit any crime in the port then that part has no business putting you in jail for something you did aboard the cruise ship I believe that if you do something aboard the cruise ship that causes you to go to the brig you might stay in the brig throughout the duration of the cruise and then be arrested by the police upon arriving back at your original port of departure
It's so hard for me to fathom people being rude to the staff on the ship, it is totally unacceptable and unnecessary!
‘Make sure that . .’ seems like so much more work than it was in the 1980s/90s. Pre-internet/pre-cellphone? Sooo worked for me. 🤦♀️
the amount of money i have spent and tipped, and the crazy prices they are charging now i will call it a dinghy, a boat or a luxury raft. lol.
Exactly. I'll call it a super size me boat if I want. I pay the cost to call it whatever.
Can you make the video shorter? Anyway great videos, enjoying them, just this one seemed to be too long.
Have you ever taken a viking ocean cruise?
Yes he has
@@MrsRobinson518 I'm looking into booking one for 2026
How about the departure location does that affect the type of crowd you encounter? Meaning departing from Galveston vs Long Beach Barcelona etc…😊
Yes it’s a ship and not a boat because it’s called a cruise ship not a cruise boat.
I'm laughing at the creepy nerd guy
Why the love-boat-fuck would anyone ever take a cruise after seeing this list? Just fly wherever you’re trying to go, and avoid all the ratchets, influencers, ridiculous ppl & hidden fees.
Do crew talk about passengers that tip or only the bad sailors?
Most cruise ship casinos charge to your card on file nightly , so you shouldn’t have a big bill at the end. Carnival cruises charges thru nightly to your card on file. I believe NCL does to.
Best entertainment is sitting back in the club late at night and people watching. Quit warning these people, your taking away the free entertainment.
Tip #9 don't go on crapival...I mean carnival
I enjoy carnival 🤷🏾♂️
What's wrong with it?
Geez Justin. What kind of crazy cruises do you go on? I am planning my 3rd cruise on the Celebrity Apex with my 93 year old mom. I haven't seen anyone totally inebriated or any fights on my last 2 cruises. Maybe Celebrity is for old folks like myself. I am 58. I do drink a glass of wine every night with dinner when I am at home and definitely drink more than that when I am on a cruise but never to the point of being hammered. As for the bed wrestling to each their own. I personally don't want to have sex with anyone except maybe John Travolta. Lol. Is this just Carnival cruise line you are talking about? In all seriousness my cruises on Celebrity were alot of fun but no nonsense going on that I saw. Love you and your channel from your #1 fan living in Delray Beach. Btw, how can I purchase a t-shirt signed by you? Would love to have 1 especially because the odds of me running in to you are slim to none.
Thank you for sharing that information thank you
#1 tip use your brain and stop watching utube vidios
Was that swimming with pigs excursion that you went on with NCL?
I like to drink! I have Never overdone on a cruise, not because of an X day hangover, but because of the fear of seasickness. 🥵🫣🥴
