Another lovely ride out with you. I first visited Stonehenge as a teenager with a friend who lived in Salisbury, and back then we simply parked his car by the side of the road and climbed all over the stones 😀 This series is reminding me of what a lovely part of the world we have here. It's easy to become jealous of the UA-camrs who live oop north and have mountains but it's just as wonderful here, albeit somewhat flatter. Thanks.

Thanks for the lovely video, Mike. I really miss driving on the wrong side of the street ;-). But all joking aside :). I love driving along the back roads through the small villages and towns. Especially in England there are so many beautiful little towns where you can find great photo motifs and also in the countryside you always have fantastic places, like the little bridge you found. I hope I can be in England again sometime, when this pandemic is over and we mainland Europeans are still allowed to travel to England. Have a great time and take care!
Another nice ride out Mike, you live in a very beautiful place there. I did visit Lymington about four years ago and got some rubbish shots, but keep promising to go back. The shot of the bridge reminded me of one I took a couple of years ago in Crayford Kent. Nice to know we have some similar taste in our shots! 😊
Hi Mike, I’ve lived in this area most of my life, so great to see you exploring. There’s a nice walk that takes you near Stonehenge from Larkhill and there’s also Woodhenge that’s a lot less spectacular, but still worth a visit if you want to tick off the “henges”. Also the wall you drove past at 17:29 happens to be the boundary of Sting’s house. It’s also the wall where I wrote off my first car! Keep well, maybe see you around here again sometime.

(Alan) I like these videos Mike, it's something different. They've changed the roads around since we last went to Stonehenge. I think you now have to park and get a bus (?) I suppose with the picture, you could have exposed for the stones and then used the graduated filter in LR to bring the sky down ?. Although I don't expect you wanted to complicate things ?

Love seeing the English countryside and to live within driving distance of Stonehenge, wow. The closest thing I live to here in southwest Wisconsin in the USA is the mighty Mississippi River which is one of my favorite things to ride along. It is a 30 minute ride from me. I am 5 hours south of the Great Lakes also.
Thanks. I am lucky. The UK's great for this stuff because even the most distant parts are only a couple days ride away. Stonehenge is only an hour - and away from the main roads it's packed with quiet, scenic backroads. I want to travel in the US someday.. ... MIKE 🙏👍🙂

Thanks for the ride Mike. I’d forgotten how much more view you get on a motor bike than in a car. It’s a pity that the wide angle lens of the GoPro makes you look like you’re going faster than tootling through the lovely countryside.
Terrific video Mike combining my favourite hobbies of photography and motorcycling! Just a point, if you didn’t have a tripod handy why didn’t you place the camera on the fencepost and take 2 exposures, one for the sky and another for the foreground/stones and combine them in post?

Hi motorcycling and photography really do go well together don't they? I pack my camera and go into North Yorkshire on my Firefly electric motorcycle (youtube my review) and its so much easier to park up to get a shot than being in a car. nice photos by the way!

Really apprieciate that question because it looks like maybe a couple hours work, when in reality it's about 5 hours shooting - and 20 hours to edit video and stills - and finding suitable music alone can burn best part of an afternoon. As I learn what I do and don't need to shoot the whole process is getting faster. I'm very lucky to have learned from some of the best in the business. Two of whom are very senior camera and editors of BBC Top Gear.. ... MIKE🙏😊

Another approach to tackling difficult lighting conditions like at the bridge is to switch from a 14-bit image to a 32-bit image. Bracketing two or three stops under and two stops over and creating a proper photorealistic HDR image in Photoshop will produce an absolute superior capture compared to a single raw image. Shooting 32-bit images is so superior in color palette and dynamic range it's a no-brainer. The trick is to remember when you enter Photoshop it defaults 8-bit you have to change it to 32-bit mode and then blend your bracketed images with auto HDR by selecting the option Tone in Adobe camera raw. Then when you export you can export it as a TIF a JPEG or whatever you need. Avoid editing in Lightroom because Lightroom is only 16 bit. That's only two bits more than a single raw photo has.
I'm a biker but have yet to really get to grips with doing photography from the bike - my enjoyment of riding takes over from the need to take shots. Ho hum... Something you never mention is the benefits of shooting in RAW, then using supposedly hidden data to draw out more detail in the shadows. Early shots of stonehenge where you wanted to have some detail in the stones but the sky was too bright, could've been helped with careful post-editing. You may have already covered all this, but I am relatively new to your channel (attracted by the bike inclusion).

Hey Robbie. In this one it's a Triumph Thunderbird 900, 6 speed. My fav bike is a Triumph Legend 900 which will be appearing soon. Done over 120,000 miles on that bike and it's still my no1 fav... I am 60 in February - how the hell did THAT happen 😳... ...MIKE 🙏🙂
Possibly Aaron. Though I wanted to keep it simple, down to the minimal kind of kit you can carry on a bike, plus the grad would either cover the stones and make them even darker, or leave a gap in the brightest part of the sky... . MIKE 🙏😊

Talking while driving (or riding) is not against the law, but it doesn't mean its a good thing. While talking you are distracted from driving, there's no question about it. Just like crossing roads with phone in hands. Today 90% of deadly car accidents happen because at least one of the two parties were distracted one way or another. Its not because we're allowed to do it that we should.
I like these kinds of videos. I have a comment, though...currently the ratio of riding:photography is about 80%:20%... is it possible to make it more like 50%:50% ...? thanks , anyway.

It's the first time I've seen the donation system. I didn't know prostitution was back in force! There's something very uncomfortable about it, like tipping a prostitute in a club or a go-go dancer. People are so gullible. "I like your video so I'm tipping you". Gosh money is ruling some people. Awful! I imagine it's only Americans or older generations though as its not a modern mentality!

Thanks for the lovely video, Mike. I really miss driving on the wrong side of the street ;-). But all joking aside :). I love driving along the back roads through the small villages and towns. Especially in England there are so many beautiful little towns where you can find great photo motifs and also in the countryside you always have fantastic places, like the little bridge you found. Another nice ride out Mike, you live in a very beautiful place there. I did visit Lymington about four years ago and got some rubbish shots, but keep promising to go back. The shot of the bridge reminded me of one I took a couple of years ago in Crayford Kent. Nice to know we have some similar taste in our shots! 😊

Hi Mike, I’ve lived in this area most of my life, so great to see you exploring. There’s a nice walk that takes you near Stonehenge from Larkhill and there’s also Woodhenge that’s a lot less spectacular, but still worth a visit if you want to tick off the “henges”. Also the wall you drove past at 17:29 happens to be the boundary of Sting’s house. It’s also the wall where I wrote off my first car! Keep well, maybe see you around here again sometime.

picture, you could have exposed for the stones and then used the graduated filter in LR to bring
the sky down ?. Although I don't expect you wanted to complicate things ?

We did road trip from London to Stonehenge and then to bath.
It was the best road trip of my life.
I did those treks on a tour bus many years ago - what a great photographic adventure.

Love seeing the English countryside and to live within driving distance of Stonehenge, wow. The closest thing I live to here in southwest Wisconsin in the USA is the mighty Mississippi River which is one of my favorite things to ride along. It is a 30 minute ride from me. I am 5 hours south of the Great Lakes also.
Thanks. I am lucky. The UK's great for this stuff because even the most distant parts are only a couple days ride away. Stonehenge is only an hour - and away from the main roads it's packed with quiet, scenic backroads. I want to travel in the US someday.. ... MIKE 🙏👍🙂

Terrific video Mike combining my favourite hobbies of photography and motorcycling! Just a point, if you didn’t have a tripod handy why didn’t you place the camera on the fencepost and take 2 exposures, one for the sky and another for the foreground/stones and combine them in post?

Hi motorcycling and photography really do go well together don't they? I pack my camera and go into North Yorkshire on my Firefly electric motorcycle (youtube my review) and its so much easier to park up to get a shot than being in a car. nice photos by the way!

I thoroughly enjoy all your videos. One question, how long does it take to edit your videos? I’m imagining it taking hours for say one of your biker ones.

Really apprieciate that question because it looks like maybe a couple hours work, when in reality it's about 5 hours shooting - and 20 hours to edit video and stills - and finding suitable music alone can burn best part of an afternoon. As I learn what I do and don't need to shoot the whole process is getting faster. I'm very lucky to have learned from some of the best in the business. Two of whom are very senior camera and editors of BBC Top Gear.. ... MIKE🙏😊

Another approach to tackling difficult lighting conditions like at the bridge is to switch from a 14-bit image to a 32-bit image. Bracketing two or three stops under and two stops over and creating a proper photorealistic HDR image in Photoshop will produce an absolute superior capture compared to a single raw image. Shooting 32-bit images is so superior in color palette and dynamic range it's a no-brainer. The trick is to remember when you enter Photoshop it defaults 8-bit you have to change it to 32-bit mode and then blend your bracketed images with auto HDR by selecting the option Tone in Adobe camera raw. Then when you export you can export it as a TIF a JPEG or whatever you need. Avoid editing in Lightroom because Lightroom is only 16 bit. That's only two bits more than a single raw photo has.
Agreed. Realistic HDR is what I'd do if I was just doing it for myself. I don't want to delve into photo merging etc in these videos though. .. MIKE 👍
I'm a biker but have yet to really get to grips with doing photography from the bike - my enjoyment of riding takes over from the need to take shots. Ho hum...
Something you never mention is the benefits of shooting in RAW, then using supposedly hidden data to draw out more detail in the shadows. Early shots of stonehenge where you wanted to have some detail in the stones but the sky was too bright, could've been helped with careful post-editing. You may have already covered all this, but I am relatively new to your channel (attracted by the bike inclusion).

Hey Robbie. In this one it's a Triumph Thunderbird 900, 6 speed. My fav bike is a Triumph Legend 900 which will be appearing soon. Done over 120,000 miles on that bike and it's still my no1 fav... I am 60 in February - how the hell did THAT happen 😳... ...MIKE 🙏🙂

Possibly Aaron. Though I wanted to keep it simple, down to the minimal kind of kit you can carry on a bike, plus the grad would either cover the stones and make them even darker, or leave a gap in the brightest part of the sky... . MIKE 🙏😊

Talking while driving (or riding) is not against the law, but it doesn't mean its a good thing. While talking you are distracted from driving, there's no question about it. Just like crossing roads with phone in hands. Today 90% of deadly car accidents happen because at least one of the two parties were distracted one way or another. Its not because we're allowed to do it that we should.

It's the first time I've seen the donation system. I didn't know prostitution was back in force! There's something very uncomfortable about it, like tipping a prostitute in a club or a go-go dancer.
